Fyi, you can also find your wimax version (and so much more) using "getprop".
Open a terminal or adb shell. You do not need to be root to access this info.
Run:
$ getprop persist.wimax.fw.version

And for the wimax mac addy:
$ getprop persist.wimax.0.MAC

This didn't work for me on CM6. Granted me superuser but could not find wimax_mtd. Does it hurt to flash over a wimax update if it's already up to date?

It can break it. What i did was download the latest wimax and the second latest wimax and test them both out and see whichone is best..

Sent from my phone... I think useing Tapatalk?

Cool thanks for the support :D. I went ahead and updated it anyway and everything seems to be in order. No way to check what my PRI is NV or WIMAX on CM6 huh? Maybe an app in the market? Thanks for the info!

Thanks! I threw these scripts into gscript, saved them to sd, moved them to sdcard/ase/scripts/, and since I have have tasker, and the ase plugin for it, I created myself a home screen button that when pressed, will ask if I want the wimax version or MAC address, and will feed me that info in terminal based on what I choose, without having to constantly enter the script manually to get to that info. Now any time I reflash, that task is still there in tasker, so I just need to load the button back to my home screen.

I'm doing something similar to check my stagefright value, and to set that value to true or false on the fly with setprop (so I can listen to Pandora with good sound, and YouTube will work correctly)

Anyone know where can I find out more about what can be done with getprop? Or even some basic scripting info?

Sent from my blah blah blah blah

This is a quick and simple way to check your wimax version.

1. Download & install "Android Terminal Emulator" from the market. It's free.
2. Open the terminal emulator app
3. Enter 'su' and then hit enter - marked with a 3 in the picture below
4. Enter 'wimax_mtd' and then hit enter - marked with a 4 in the picture below
5. Your WiMax version will show up where 5 is in the picture below

Also, your MAC address can be seen doing this as well. Look for 'Dev MAC ='

The first time I did the test I got errors similar to yours. Ran the test again and it worked. Have you tried it again?

I must be one of those who inadvertently wiped out my 4g, neither the wimax_mtd or the getprop commands did anything.. :(

Oh well, I guess I'll have to drop my phone in the river if 4g shows up here anytime soon..

Make sure the 4G radio is on for this command to work.

I am also getting this and I had 4g toggled on. So I guess I am screwed. I have nandroid backup but obviously only backed up what I have above. Update I just downloaded and installed the radio/wimax from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787756) and then did the test again and everything was okay and a match.

I'm no noob to android, and just updated to the latest RA recovery on my rooted phone. I was able to get my wimax version from the terminal emulator on my rooted phone, but am trying to find it on a non-rooted Evo, and haven't a clue what the hell these instructions want me to do. I cannot launch an adb shell without a million lines telling me how to use it, I get $ and getprop are not recognized commands, etc.

There's a way to get it using the ## codes on the phone keypad. Does anyone recall this?

Thank you for your time.
