On the tribute2 kingroot good with teather.... virtual router very unstable so droped that and made a cross-over cable and shared the internet with a Linksys router.... all happy now :>) unlimited data 4G lte.
Still cant get my tribute ls660 to stop being a brick....thinking of installing the ketchen just to learn a little more, or find a new route to get it back.

The DL is asking for an encryption key b4 it will let me get it? Thanks again btw.
On a side note my T2 tether link project, the pc loses conection it seams when the phone sleeps ... so trying to set under options I set the stayawake check mark. will let u know how that goes

I ended up just flashing 6th_Hokage's rooted system img and it works great without any issues so far, so thanks for that. Now that Marshmallow is here for our Boost LS770 I wonder what possibilities await.
I would guess at some point someone would be able to flash the original stock ZV5 image to make their device pure factory stock (more or less), then take the OTA for Marshmallow 6.0.1, capture it after the installation, then hopefully be able to roll back to Lollipop but I'm going to guess it's not going to be anywhere near that easy due to potential bootloader changes.
We'll find out soon enough as the update spreads.

did you id the port for your phone? I set mine to port 41 in device manager. then changed command lines to express same. But TBH I'm still trying to un-soft-brick a tribute ls660, so tread carefuly!

Do you think that image would work on the ls660? I might try it if I can figure a way to flash from download mode or recorery stock.

It started the 28th of this month and it's going slowly be region I guess...Boost will get it right after I believe...But I my brother has the Stylo atm so I won't be able to work on it any time soon so after someone gets the update pull the system.img so we can fix soft bricks

My wife got the update notification today. she is on ZV5 but the stock recovery is broken if i get "flash" the Zv5 system.img back on her phone (not rooted) will that also include the stock zv5 recovery so i can update to the 6.0 ota?

Does this work for the Cricket version too?Attention if you try this and end up with a brick or your device transforms and tries to destroy you; it's not my fault you did this not me. So just read all of this thread not just the O.P to get out of a bind if you reply with "the thread is too long i wont read it please help" don't expect anything short of "there's a search bar use it"
Attention If you bricked via trying to root with the 5.0.2 method on 5.1.1 then just run what is below and you will have a fully working and rooted Stylo
Hello there I and Unjustified Dev have figured out how to root this puppy with the help of a video on YouTube so please read carefully and copy carefully ! (Thanks @Newyork! for helping me clean up my OP)
- Make sure you have a Windows PC
- Download the LG Drivers from here:
- Reboot your device into download mode
- Download this folder and unzip it to your desktop:
- Run ports.bat from within the extracted folder, to find your correct port (use the one with: LGVZANDNETDIAG1)
- In the LG_Root folder hold shift and right click and choose open command windows here
- Type
Code:Push_File.exe \\.\COM11 busybox /tmp/busybox
(Make sure your COM port number is correct, it varies)
it will then give you a message for example:
- Now type
(same deal as before)Code:Push_File.exe \\.\COM11 lg_root.sh /tmp/lg_root.sh- Now type
Code:Push_File.exe \\.\COM11 UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip /tmp/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip- Now type
Code:Send_Command.exe \\.\COM11- Now type the following
which will result in:Code:ls tmp

So, this won't help anyone unbrick, and if you guys knew, I apologize, but i just read the last 10 pages and didn't see any mention of it...
I just downloaded the newest kingroot (version 4.6.5) and rooted my T-Mobile LG G Stylo (LG-H631) 5.1.1.

Have you fixed the broken stock recovery, cause I broke mine and can't find the 5.1.1 stock recovery anywhere.
Nope I was just going to wait until they post the new system image for marshmallow or someone posts the stock recovery and how to apply that in download mode
I have the MM update.zip but yeah I am stuck because I have no recovery and no one will help..

You just have to flash the stock recovery via command line ask the maintainer of the MM update cause he has the command for it

i was just talking about this with @Unjustified Dev over Hangouts and seems the same process for T-Mobile / Metro as well so will be cool if that Title is edited for T-Mobile and Metro as well....
P.S. ill be testing process as soon i KDZ my stylo (Tmo) and proceed with TWRP (Custom Recovery) for T-mobile/Metro so you can edit OP with those steps and have a Universal Thread for all Stylos4
0k I CAN confirm that ROOT and TWRP (Custom Recovery) for T-MOBILE is a GO and pretty sure same for METRO :fingers-crossed: :good: :highfive: (Thanks @Unjustified Dev)
PS. i flash latest KDZ v10i and procced with Root after that i Enable OEM Unlock to flash the Custom Recovery (TWRP 2.8.7.0) with FLashify........
PSS. Because i had a Backup i Restored and got everything back again and no need to reinstall everything again
EDIT 1 - Seems like if we TMO/METRO user want to access Custom Recovery the OEM Unlock must be check all the time @Unjustified Dev is this always this way or there us a way around? cuz when is Uncheck gives:
