well ure screwed either way. the goal is to restore everything back to stock and see if you can get a line working

btw was there a seal on the box that you had to break in order to open the box when you first got it?
Yes, the box was 100% sealed which I broke to open it. Now I'm second guessing whether or not I wiped the phone before installing the stock rom (not now, but my previous attempt).

ROM flashed, waiting for phone to come up now.

I got the same error - the minute I put in the sim from the working phone I got this:

SIM network PIN blocked. Enter SIM network PUK.
___________
Unlock
Dismiss

I did try to call T-mobile Friday and yesterday. They provided me with two PUK unlock codes which did not work..... What do you think I should do now?

I really think this is a region lock and not sim lock.

there are 2 types of locks and the region lock usually needs a phone call of around 5 mins made on the originating soil to unlock it.

on my unlocked Korean note 9 they made a 5 min call to lift it( seal on box was broke but I knew about it and expected it) I've wiped countless times, changed csc multiple times too. never have I gotten this type of issue. same with my note 8.

root your phone, and go to efs/imei and post each files contents.

they should all have 1 string texts in those 4 or 5 files. permissions might not allow you to open some of them so just copy them over somewhere or just upload and post them

I think I agree with you. Makes no sense that a blank t-mobile sim that's been sitting at my desk for 5 years would generate the same error message.

After hitting dismiss on that initial error the notification error says "Invalid Sim Card. Network locked sim inserted."

I will root it and post the files. Thanks for your help.

Btw Samsung says they don't unlock phones, only carriers. T-mobile, the carrier, says they only unlock T-mobile phones. So how do people sell unlocked phones? Confused.

Also, I forgot to mention in the mayhem of the last two days, somehwere, somehow, when I loaded the LUX rom when I went into settings I could see that my imei information disappeared. I somehow managed to get it to come back, but maybe I screwed something up when trying to load detonator.

pretty sure your efs/imei got screwed up.

anyhow for the issue at hand:

I googled the issue and this came up

https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/397897/Sim+Network+Pin+Blocked

looks like your situation.

you said you tried a few valid codes, but never the less might gotten locked.

check last post...

I actually have 2 of these cards unopened. they are for Thailand I think but basically should work.

got em off Ebay for cheap ( traveler cards) and bought them last year to trouble shoot the OEM unlock disappearance issue before it was found what actually caused it and how to fix it. I never got around to try them.

if you send me a shipping label I'll give them to you if your interested.

You still think it's a sim card issue? Everything that's happened I think I must have screwed something up.

I also forgot to mention after detonator I really screwed up because the phone wouldn't let me unlock it no matter what I did. I had set a swipe password and it would accept the swipe and then all of a sudden lock itself.

After following Dr. Ketan's root guide (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/how-to/root-note-9-n960f-fd-experimental-t3832143) I noticed he changed the procedure slightly.

I also noticed that he says to "select to allow modifications" whereas other root guides with TWRP I have seen say you should be in read-only mode. What are the consequences of selecting modification?

After rooting I have no radio signal - I can see a circle with a line through it next to my battery percentage. Sim card is not in the phone and was not during the rooting process.

recreate the missing ones and add XEU to them. also check my screen shot to set the right permissions on all of them

when you flash twerp you slide to allow modifications.

then go to wipe menu and format data.

if you want a custom rom then do factory wipe, reboot back to twrp then flash it. try ketans rom btw just in case. don't forget to flash correct vendor .img( to flash it choose image button instead if install)

no ap_key.dat is something else but it should have been there by default and the code2.dat is from I dont know where.
