If you habe empty images you don't need to wipe.
Otherwise backup your android_secure-folder.

I try to find a solution to this problem.

Hey m11kkaa wassup?

1st of thanks for this thread and all your help I greatly appreiate this.

About a week ago or so, I first read someone asking if dual boot would be possible and thought that it would take a while to come through.. Until 2 days ago, someone suggest me to use it: perfect timmming for ICS alpha builds and just plain awesome!!

OK, just to be safe before my 3rd ICS builds multiboot install.., cache and Dalvik cache wipes should not cause problem aren't they?

That's it! Thanks again.

I think this should be safe but I didn't try it.
The safest way would be to backup/rename the folder before wiping :)

Same problem, I think both the ROMs should use the same kernel. ms2ginger uses a different kernel than cm7,cm9 and miui.

Yes, that's the limitation of the Defy. You can only use one kernel.
Maybe you find a kernel which works with both rom's.

Good to know.

Here CM7/ICS works fine and I just I just wiped cache and Dalvik cache before install and no biggie except that the recovery has a tendency to give black screens on "go back" selections. --> just a long press the power button and menu's back.

ICs finally has sound and phone signal: cool stuff!!

Theoretically you could replace Stock Recovery with an boot-image with another kernel.

Then you would have to hold down Vol-Down to boot.
I didn't tried that but it really could work. This way you would have 2 kernels on Defy :D:D:D

I believe the easiest way to clean install to virtual, is to boot into real system (CM7), replace system.img, data.img and cache.img in /sdcard/fsimages with a clean one from first page.

@Cassinander: If you are comfortable with ADB you can boot into Latest/Custom Recovery, enable ADB, go into mounts&stoarge and mount data and cache and then execute the following commands via ADB:
Code:
rm -Rf /data/*
rm -Rf /cache/*

1- I replace with some 3 files of before instalation, posted in first post?

2- If i to want do by ADB, where is this? In the Recovery Reboot, see unmount options, but no mount data/cache options. Help me learn, please.
