I have CM9 by Quarx with GB kernel on my SOC Defy and multiboot 0.8. I tried to get codenameandroid (CNA) JB as my second system. When I boot into CNA (2nd system) it takes me to the setup screen without any issue, but when I press on the android logo to start the setup it says setup has crashed and again shows the android logo. I am sure the CNA zip is fine as it runs fine as primary OS. Both the roms are GB kernel.

it seems this version is not compatible with the latest cm10 in Qkernel.
i don't mean i want to boot qkernel in sdcard though it seems possile, but when i install multiboot the qkernel doesn't work in nand system.
is it a way for multiboot to be compatible?
and it seems twrp is not compatible too.

Cross kernel in multi boot is shaky I think. About twrp, the problem is not with multi boot, but about TLS support in latest ROMs since we gained hwa I think....we need eppy for that now...BTW maniac was trying to patch twrp in the cm7 thread I think.

To be clear again for everyone ...
U can use only one of 2nd boot or 2nd init...along with multiboot's second system.

Custom kernel builds will always be 2nd boot. Non custom kernel builds on nand go to 2nd init.

U cannot use custom kernel builds running from sdcard since 2nd system is not 2nd boot.

So possible combination

-->2nd init(non custom kernel build on nand) + 2nd system(secondary roms from sd without custom kernel)
-->2nd boot(custom kernel build o nand) + 2nd system(secondary roms from sd without custom kernel)

Mihovil had ported backtrack 5, search in gen section .there is a guide for that i think. And it isnt exactly like multibooting but more like mounting an image from sd card.

great suggestion, mihovil has port ubuntu 10.04 too but.. it run as a virtual machine, and we know the virtual machines dont use the all "potencial" of hardware.

Hey all,
Just a note for reference and posterity, after dabbling with this for a day or so, I have hit upon a combination that works for me, using:
dlhxr's Image Creators, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25118085#post25118085, joydeep1985's multiboot guide, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24237176#post24237176, and multiboot v0.6.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364659.

I flashed Walter's kernel, 4.5.2.109-DHT-22-gingerbread-BL5.zip https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B3OovGFEtCdncDlaQjhzWVUtbFE, as recommended by Walter (note: *1 best for battery performance, for dualboot with CM7/9 GB-kernel, install Defy-4.5.2.109-DHT-22-gingerbread-BL5-kernel.zip) and joydeep1985, and used Walter's comprehensive MSGinger 4.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140839 as my nand system.

I liked the text boot selection, so after experimenting with the touchscreen beta's I went back to the consistent success I had with v0.6.1 multiboot loader.
I used Defy/Defy+ roms, I'm guessing that's a gb kernel issue, because I didn't get any non-defy+ roms to work.
So it was CM7.2 for Defy+ stable http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=jordan_plus, and Wajk's just released http://goo.im/devs/Wajk/Defy%20Plus/GB/ WajkIUI_multilang_2.10.27_Plus.zip, from his excellent MIUI/WIUI thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161110.
I had the corrupted VFS issue until I used the Image Creators for the VFS, after which I did not mess with the file systems using the multiboot app, other than to observe they were healthy.

I picked up a Sandisk Ultra 32gb Class10 microSD card, and it boots almost as fast as the phone nand.
Waiting for an O/C update!

WooHoo!

PS- Caveats I noted, other than what bugs exist within the ROM(s) themselves:

For whatever reason, when I tried the 4.5.3-109-DPP-11-gingerbread-BL5 kernel, I was unable to get multiboot to function until I flashed 4.5.2.109-DHT-22-gingerbread-BL5 back, even after reflashing multiboot.

I found that the battery level was always reflected as 100% in the 2 multiboot roms, but accurate in the NAND rom.
I have flashed the GB batt fix and wiped stats for all three systems with no success...

Defy Red Lens
4.5.2.109-DHT-22 GB Kernel
Nand: MSGinger 4.0
MB 1: CM 7.2 for Defy+
MB 2: WajkIUI 2.10.27 for Defy+

Noob question:
If you have the custom kernel on nand, then am I right in assuming that the 2nd system build will also be able to make use of kernel settings like ksm, etc?
