IIRC the new crypto key for using the Nougat RUU is in the last update to Marshmallow - you can't go directly to Nougat without first getting the Nougat key, either by installing what is being called "firmware" (as distinct from the RUU), taking OTA's up to the final MM version (or installing the RUU for that version), or updating HTC Synch on a PC and installing from there (I think). I suspect that your problem is the lack of the proper key.

If he did not follow through with whole conversion but stopped at changing cid/mid he has to flash firmware seperately for nougat and then flash whole ruu...I dont think he would get an ota from his carrier on a dev device... Heres steps I would do...

Make sure cid/mid are set correctly
Flash developer firmware seperately
Flash developer build that matched his original build, ie 1.57.617.X vs carrier build
Take ota up to nougat

Some of us are still here...
Summers in Idaho are short and the winters long, so it is understood that there is work to be done and the pressure is on. I heard someone say that "Winter is coming". There will be time when the snow falls.
I am still very happy with the A9, and appreciate anything you do to prolong its life. The next hurdle will be to replace the battery, which appears possible but also potentially damaging to the display - I'm hoping to get another year or more before then. I would really like to delay buying a new phone until I can get one that is well-supported with root and AOSP ROMs here on XDA, ships with Treble, and has an easily replaceable battery. It might be a long time...

Tried my luck and.... succeeded

It clearly says don't flash on firmware below 2.18.617 or on stock Euro firmware.. well I was on 2.17.401.2 stock Euro device and I thought why not, I was suffering major battery drain and my device would random shutdown when power got to less than 60%. So I decided to flash and to my absolute surprise, it bloody worked, and it works so well. Just shows, wonders never cease haha

So, I just want to say this. My good old HTC One A9 finally couldn't stay charged anymore. I'd get about 90 minutes from full to zero. Tried recalibrating battery and flashing from scratch. Just age. Slightly cracked screen too. My phone insurance gave me an LG V30 for 75 bucks. I couldn't believe it! Great phone, and I can live without root. I just wanted to thank Wonders_Never_Cease and all the very fine people in this thread. The A9 is a damn workhorse. Had it a long time through thick and thin, but it was time. The V30 is an animal of a phone, and I love it. But, this ROM is one of the best, and Wonders is a hell of a dev. Thanks again all. Peace out! ✌

I've noticed performance issues with this ROM, snapchat, instagram and even yotube stutters time to time, battery life is great though..

First one to report anything of this nature... This could be a vast majority of things, too many apps opened, app issue, tweaks/changes you may have applied... If not on a .617 device, memory allocation is different... To many variables to say from your post what could be the issue...

Well, I am indeed on the .617 firmware, I have the 3gb variant of the A9, Plus during my testing all the apps were closed in the background.
