I think i'll give Freda a try here and see how it works!

I do know Amazon officially announced Kindle for WP7 and that should be available soon - they even had a demo of the app with screenshots for launch a few weeks ago.

I also got word that OverDrive media is writing an app for Windows phone 7 so overdrive content should soon be usable on windows phone - including ebooks and audio books for checkout from your library!

[Q] App shortcut to webpage

Well the scenario is pretty easy for anyone with a windows phone to understand what i'm asking for. Anyone who has YouTube app installed on their phone can duplicate this. When you click YouTube it opens up IE pointing to YouTube. And when you click back inside IE, it takes you back to the app list.

Is it possible to duplicate this behaviour with my own website? We're working on something similar to this but what behaviour we're getting is that the application lunches, which then goes to launch the browser (which is correct), but then when you hit back, it goes back to the application itself, causing it to launch another tab in the browser with the link.

Does anyone know what we can do to replicate the behaviour of the YouTube app?

I know it might sound a bit bizarre, but does anyone have the XAP for the YouTube app? If they could use reflector or something to see what is in that XAP on how they do it, much appreciated.

I've been in contact with TomTom and thought I would share their somewhat disheartening response to Windows Phone 7 development.

I would of thought following iOS they would of been a bit earlier to the party this time around but it seems TomTom don't like being there at the beginning :(

Hello from Tomtom , My name is Chris.

This is a very new OS and until testing has been carried we are not yet in a position to comment on compatibility or availability ,

Once PDA/Phones actually start shipping with this version of the OS installed by the manufacturers more in depth testing can be carried out and the compatibility listing updated.

I will be be happy to feed back your interest in this to our software development team

With Kind Regards and have a good weekend

On Mozart tile on screen saying:- Coming Soon. Also on their web site.
I spoke to Orange about this yesterday. When I upgraded my phone and contract (to Raccon contract that includes Orange Maps) I was told to make sure I didn't use Orange Maps until my new contract kicked in (which was yesterday).
When I phoned Orange I found out these two interesting facts:
1. According to Orange Tech Support, Orange Maps is not supported on HTC Mozart (which I thinks means they haven't writtent the app yet - hence the 'coming soon' icon)
2. Also according to Orange Tech Support, there have been problems with the Orange Maps service - it hasn't been working since April (!) and they have no idea when it will be back online. The official help advice from Orange Tech Support is to try using Google Maps!!

Needless to say I'm lodging a few complaints with Orange....

[Q] Call Blocker / Manager?

I am looking to getting a WM7 device, but would like to know if there's any call blocker / manager along the lines of Super Private Conversation ("SPC") (Android) available for WM7.

Free or paid, it doesn't matter, but I need to have one... for reasons best not to elaborate.

I've asked here are my few weeks of research have turned up zilch.

Many TIA.

Please build an Internet Radio App!

Over here, there is Capital FM but it doesn't allow me to add in other Internet Radio links. I'm hoping that someone could build one that allows scanning for Internet Radio links or at least allow manual keying in of links.

Thanks.

Yes I have an Orange Maps "Coming Soon" icon which they helpfully put on my home screen to waste some space! I could understand if it was going to be a couple of days, but otherwise an email/text to say it was available at the right time would have peeed off far fewer people. Seen at least one Orange press release out there saying it was available at launch in London. I have no faith in Orange development as problems on their web site etc seem to stick around for months or even years before someone gets round to fixing them! Not holding breath.

Telmap looks like they will be there first and the flash movie on their home page shows the software travelling around London which is encouraging for me at least :)

Pete
P.S. This is on a Samsung Omnia 7, I don't think Orange have an app at all yet.

Hub creator app

What would be really great if possible would be an app to create your own hubs in wp7! Say if you want to group specific tiles together without having a start screen 10miles long. Like submenus... Just a thought.

I emailed sirius about this and they say that there are no current plans but will re-evaluate at a later date, so I don't think it will happen right now. Very disappointing, though not unexpected since they never did a winmo app either.

Doesnt work like that unfortunately. i have a couple of apps on the marketplace now. And still learning more on the way Wp7 os handles alot of stuff.
first of to create the hub like experience the app its self has to be a hub, So you can like create an app that will create a new hub n the phone. The phone does not allow alot of cross applications. As of right now i dont believe its possible for you to access the and pic the details of apps on your phone to your application.

Also upon my studies on the os, if you app takes longer than 10 sec to load the os will terminate the app ( this is good info for all the other developers out there). there are lots of ways around it like using multithreads and make sure your ui thread never gets bogged down.

I will research more on the issue. But as of right now from my knowledge i have to say that its not possible to create the app hub you are referring to.

even though sirius does not plan on it, maybe geekstoolbox will work on a program for us like they did for winmo like siriuswm5 or sxr2
