I've purchased NavRadio+ and installed into my PX30 HU. Everything seems to work as expected, nice job.

The only issue that I think is not directly related with NavRadio+ is the FM physical button of my HU which allows to start the radio app. After disabling the stock radio app in factory settings, such button now does not make anything. How can I make that button to start NavRadio+?
AFAIK you are using Hal9k Mod v5. It should have this possibility according to its changelog in the OP:

48. Added the ability to select applications that will run instead of stock apps. You can start your player with a button on the steering wheel

Thank you for you reply. I found that setting and now the button starts navradio.

The issue I'm having is that autoboot option within navradio does not work. I will try using a similar option that Hal9k Mod Settings provide to start apps on boot.

After one week of usage, I am really happy of my purchase with NavRadio+.

As of now, I only have one suggestion regarding alternative frequencies of stations. I feel that automatic switching to a alternative frequency does not work very well (I use 30db on factory settings). Even this aspect maybe cannot be improved directly by the app, my suggestion is to enable some easy way of changing to an alternative frequency, because now it requires to double click on the station as if you want to edit it, and then select the frequency from the list. Maybe the developer can think a faster/more direct way to do the same.

Regards

Actually there are already a couple of faster way to switch between the stored frequencies:
1. sliding up/down in the middle of the screen.
2. Double click on the station button (not holding it to edit)
I normally use the slide option: when a station start receiving badly and i know that there is as better freq stored, i slide down and reception become much better and without noise.

...i should add a guide for these tricks in the app ;)

hello @KoTiX2, I have been using your radio for several versions, and so far everything had worked very well, but since I updated to the latest version the button inside the application for automatic start has stopped working, and This is causing me problems that I did not have before, are you going to fix this problem soon? I am using the hal9k rom in its latest version, but as you said I had never had this problem. Thank you for your work.

I reported the same issue and I also use hal9k rom. The workaround is using the feature of the rom to start applications at boot, setting NavRadio to that list it works well. But I agree that the autostart feature of NavRadio should be fixed

The autostart function is blocked by firmware in most of the units.
Many manufacturers prevent third party apps to start after boot.
I haven't changed nothing in the code of last releases that could brake this function.
I only updated the Google minimun SDK to 10 because it's mandatory now and i have no idea if this can break the boot receiver in anyway.
There isn't really much that i can do about it..

Version 2.14 is coming out today:

- Fixed all resolutions and displays density (i hope for last time)
- Fixed "only logos" view for USA

I now use many different folders (sw***dp) for each resolution.
The formula used to determine the DP value of the folder is:
"Smallest width in px" *160/DPI density
For example for a 1024*600 240dpi display we apply the formula 600*160/240=400
So the dimensions folder for this display will be sw400dp.
The problems start if somebody use non standard density values. Malaysk in his roms for example force set a 220dpi density value,
some other guy set 242dpi...
I tried to preset the correct dimensions for these special cases too but I cannot know all of them, so please report me the correct display sizes and DPI values if you still have problems.
Hi KoTiX2!
Is there any chance to revert to the 2.13 or older version? I accidentally updated, and now it looks bad... Unfortunately I don't remember at which version I stopped updating, but I think it was from August or older... For some reasons, I also have non-standard DPI for my screen (200dpi for 1024x600, 7"). I realize that some apps will have broken layout, but I need more stuff to fit on screen (maps, specifically). And for most apps this is not an issue (things are even better).

Another issue is with station metadata, and how the system and the launcher deal with it. It is very unfortunate, that all three products, each being the best in its category (namely the Hal9k mod, the Agama launcher, and the NavRadio+) break things all the time, and it is very hard to find settings and versions combination that work more or less good. And then any update can break everyhing... Now it's happened, again :(

Revert is not possible, sorry
Right now I'm too busy porting the app to FYT devices but I'll see if it's possible to add the resolution that you are using without breaking others.
I haven't changed nothing to the code part that send metadatas to agama but I'll check it too.
Have you asked the same question to Agama developer?

@KoTiX2 We have found an issue with NavRadio+ on the FCC Launcher thread that its dev @SpeedFire- identified as such:
Here is the version which SOMETIMES shows the correct logo for NavRadio fcclauncher-3.442_test109.apk (I still don't have any issues with GMMP)

The issue is mainly on NavRadio side (at least on my device and the latest NavRadio beta from Play Store). It doesn't attach radio logo to its notifications for some reason (this can be checked manually - you don't see radio logo there). Instead the only image attached is the NavRadio's low res icon which is not useful.

NavRadio's radio logo instead is sent via a Hal9k app ("com.microntek.modservice") for some reason.

This means that when radio station is changed the Fcc Launcher receives several (often 10+) updates from both NavRadio and Hal9k radio apps. NavRadio updates includes correct station name but no logo (which results in default logo applied in Fcc Launcher). Hal9k updates include correct logo (sometimes) and incorrect station name.

I think the change should be done on NavRadio+ side. The author needs to add the radio logo bitmap to notification as a MediaMetadata.METADATA_KEY_ALBUM_ART key for example.
Could you please add the radio logo bitmap to notification as described by @SpeedFire-? Thanks in advance. :)

I'll check it but I'm pretty sure that NavRadio radio already send the logo via player metadata as requested by FCC and all other launchers.
I'll let you know if I find out something wrong. ;)

Thanks.

The thing is that @SpeedFire- uses the player notification instead of the media broadcast to get the data to display in FCC's Player widget. He found this to be more reliable, since broadcasts can get lost in the system.

Therefore we would like to ask you to also display the station logo in the NavRadio+ notification, which currently isn't the case.

I tested this last FCC build on Allwinner, MTC and UIS7862 units and the results are different on each on them.
Results are also inconsistent on the same unit but let's say that the station logo is shown for most of the times.
The metadata that NavRadio have always sent are:
METADATA_KEY_TITLE, METADATA_KEY_ARTIST,
METADATA_KEY_ALBUM,
METADATA_KEY_ART

I'll add the METADATA_KEY_ALBUM_ART in the next release but this is not the problem IMO.
I'm pretty sure it was working ok in previous versions of FCC even with KEY_ART and i haven't made any changes in the metadata code since a long time.

Have you asked the same question to Agama developer?

I think the problem is rather with NavRadio, trying to replace stock radio app (same identifiers? AppID?). So Hal9k's mod service treats notifications not as coming from a media player, but as from the stock FM app. Where they have different structure, apparently. The evidence for this is that when I disable radio notifications in the settings, but add NavRadio to the list of players which display notifications, this doesn't make them appear. Only enabling Radio notifications makes popups to be displayed, and if I restart NavRadio, sometimes they get displayed correctly (with name and logo). Other players display notifications with no issues (e.g. YT Music). And of course, stock FM app is disabled, both in Factory setts and even APK is renamed.

P.S. This worked more or less fine with Hal9k version 4.0.2 and NavRadio build from August, I guess. Having updated the mod to the latest (4.2.1) and NavRadio likewise, popup notifications are now broken. Maybe you could give some suggestions on how to setup all these (I don't even mention Agama now, as it has correlation with system popups behavior - when the latter display fine, the former is also fine).

After few minutes of playing, sound stops and screen is as shown:

Screenshot_20220112-073515.png

I then close application by pressing back button, restart it and in most cases it is OK. Sometimes it repeats.
Any ideas?

PX30, Agama launcher, stock radio apk disabled.

    Nice updates man.

    Just reporting.

Frequency via canbus on car information screen. Fixed.

Notifications seems to work much better from hal9k rom. At least i haven't noticed any weird behaviour.

My launcher widget still shows empty logo when i turn on the car while radio is playing. But i can live with it. Changing freq a couple of times fixes it

    Thank man.

@Anton TNT @KoTiX2 @realzoulou I have always wanted that. One app with updates from both Devs. I would gladly pay £25 for such an app with the attention to detail they can provide.

With full support for all MTC devices.
    13
    SOME TIPS:
    TOGGLE SCREEN NORMAL/FULL:
    - Double Click on the station information toggle fullscreen on/off.

    NORMAL SCREEN:
    - Long press on the station information popup the "ADD Station" dialog window if the station is not in your station list. If it's already in your list, it will focus the relative station button.
    - Long press on a station button bring up the "EDIT Station" dialog window
    - Single press on screen arrows <> does a small frequency step fwd/back
    - Long Press on screen arrows does a quick search fwd/back

    FULLSCREEN MODE:
    - A Single press of the arrows <> switch to next/previous station
-A Long press on station information(center of the screen) bring up the "EDIT Station" dialog window.
    - In interface settings you can remove the big frequency in background if a logo is available.
    - In settings you can hide status bar, activate the clock and a speed gauge

    STEERING WHEELS CONTROLS:
    - The steering wheels commands act exactly in the same way as the fullscreen arrows, they just need to be setup in the correct way in carsettings application.

    FAVORITE LIST:
    - The FAV list is the result of merging FM and AM favorites, so you can have both frequencies in the same list.
    - FAV stations can be edited within the fav list but cannot be added. You need to be on fm or am list to add a station and set it to favs.
    - Deleting the FAV list will just remove the fav flag from the fm/am stations but will not delete them.
    - Deleting AM/FM list it will delete the FAV list too.

    LOGOS:
    - you can use your own station logos, you just need to know where you have them stored and browse for them when editing a station.
    - To get the stations Logos from the app you have to set the nationality of the logos in the interface menu, download and extract them.
Once they are extracted you have to edit each saved station to assign the logo image to it.
    - The automatic assignment of the Logos is based on the RDS id of the radio stations (pi code) and the search of the logo by RDS name.
The first method (by id) is faster and more precise but it needs that the name of the logo contain the picode of the station and for this purpose i renamed them for some of the available countries. Of course i cannot make them all and the functionality of this method depend of the availability of correctly named logo images for your country.
The second method (by name) is less accurate and it work comparing the RDS name with all available logos. If the rsult of the comparison is 100% correct the logo is autoamatically assigned. If the result are more then one logo, a dialog window popup asking you to choose it.

AF (Alternative Frequencies) handling: (Doubleclick to switch between stored AF)
AF service allows the radio tuner to tune in to an alternative frequency when the signal becomes too weak. The minimum level signal can be set in factory settings (Auto Search Stop) and has been found
that around 30 db is the best choice.
To improve even more this service I added an automatic storing of the alternative frequencies so that every time a new frequency is received, it's added in a list.
After an autoscan some radio stations can be found on different frequencies, NavRadio+ have an option (in Settings/radio) to automatically merge the frequencies in just one button populating the AF list
The frequencies available in this list can be selected using the station editor or switched one by one DOUBLECLICKING on the station button.

    NOTES:
I'm the only developer of the app and I work on it every single day for some hours a day.
I try my best to develope the app at best of my possibilities and I wish at evey release that it is bug and crash free.
This is very hard to achieve, even if I have some very good friends that help me testing it.
I'm really thankful to them for their help and support.

Thank everybody who beleive in my work and thanks for understanding. :)

Some more news for this week (the image should be self explanatory):
    x7TCQF9.png

Then there some more countries with automatic logos:
Belgium, Czech rep., France (tnx @Timpuli), Hungary, Croatia
Italian logos are still worked out and I'm waiting for friends to prepare the German and Spanish logos (they are really too many).
I'm fixing again Agama metadata for no RDS users and liveRDS.
Other minor bugs are fixed too.
Next week i'll concentrate on after sleep resuming and AF alternative frequencies.
    8
Then please go ahead and write such app for yourself, if you think that it's so easy and cheap to do.

There's nothing wrong with asking some money for a good software. Things don't have to be for free and I'm pretty sure that @KoTiX2 so far put more hours of work into this project than it payd back, if you look at it at a monitary basis. There surely also is a lot of enthusiasm in this project.
    7
Ok guys, most of the requested fixes are coming out with v1.56 release:

Fixed AudioFocus when using mic in navi app (this was a very old request)
Fixed for MTC the problem that app wasn't killed after source change and with AF or TA enabled it was starting back on itslef (tnx @emre33 for report)
Fixed widget controls unusable after 40sec (tnx @ Al Ferro)
Added double click to switch between alternative frequencies of a station
Changed statusbar Notifications with new icon and better layout (tnx @the-unknown)

FCC integration will come probably next week or later, sorry ;)
