Hi!

I have tried to install the app, but it indicates that the hardware is incompatible. I have a PX5 radio, but it seems to bring a brand new MCU:

MF1-px5_C54_whd01a-aAaAaA_7708_B4_20210310-10: 40

Is there a way to make it work? Are you going to update the app for this type of MCU?

Thanks

Hi @KoTiX2,

I installed the free version you post on the first message and I tried during last week on my PX3 MTCE GS auto radio. It works fine (I noticed that quality of sound has increased) but I realized some strange situations:
  1. When I seek stations in the background, the app crashes.
  2. I think that AF only picked new stations if you seek them first. It would be great that radio could recover AF automatically without having to scan previously.
  3. How can AF work better? Which value have I to put in factory settings? I tried with 20db and 30db but AF only works a few times in spite of station has more than one AF registered.
Thanks in advance for this great app!

You are lucky that it work "fine" on a px3 unit :p
I guess it's running anroid 7, correct? I beleive that I some how lost the support for android 7 units while adding new features to the app.
I have a px3 cpu board somewhere at home and i'll try to load it up on one of my units to see what happen but i cannot guarantee anything right now...
Tnx for reporting anyway ;)

Yep, that's the one I have... I bought it 3 years ago and yes, it has android 7.1.2
Please don't forget about px3 units.. we cannot afford upgrading them yearly. As I said, I am looking for a good radio app which works well (I am realized about android radio chipset limitations) and I want to buy your app if it achieves it. Thanks for your work.

This is not a NavRadio notification. It's from some other app or from the hal9k or malaysk rom.
You should check their custom settings.

@KoTiX2
Hello there,
My radio does not have rds feature. If I buy your app, will it work? I have uploaded a picture of the system specs. Very happy if you help.

It seems a S32F0 MCU based HU, but the beginning of the string of the relevant version is shown as a different one ( MF1 instead of S32F0). The remaining is the same of any MCU with S32F0. You can try, at your own risk, to flash one of the S32F0 MCUs based on 7708 Radio Chip.

If I flash the firmware you tell me, what risk is there? Can I brick the unit?

Hi, I use an Ottocast USB AIO box, the Picasou 2 Pro, this is an app for listening to the radio with all the features I'm looking for. Do you think the developer can work on this device?
Does this device have a FM radio chip, connected to the original car antenna? This app is for aftermarket Android Head units that replace the original ICE equipment. They universally have a FM chip that is not part of traditional Android; rather controlled by a separate microcontroller and firmware. Real FM radio, nothing to do with the internet. Unless I'm mistaken, apologies if I am, about your device; it is completely outside of the aims of this app. Even if it could access the FM radio, via usb, it would do so in a way that is nothing to do with this app. The developer makes new versions according to the popularity of newer qualifying platforms, I outlined above. I don't imagine it's economically worthwhile to him to develop bespoke versions, at the very low app cost he asks for it.

Wow, man, I just have to say nice work for replying to all these posts. You are certainly in touch with your users.

I have a pretty fair number of suggestions or requests, but I'm going to keep it to my main problem for now just to keep things simple. I read through all 100 pages of posts to see if this problem was mentioned, and it wasn't (or I missed it somehow).

Anyway, I'm having trouble with the drag-and-drop function of my favorites list. I assign all the stations I want as favorites, then I drag and drop them into the order I want (basically, talk stations, then pop stations, then hard rock, etc.). Everything works fine, I can switch between stations like I want and everything stays put. However the radio doesn't save the new dragged-and-dropped configuration. When I turn the car off and come back later, the favorites are still there, but in order of frequency. The app has forgotten all my dragging and dropping.

"No problem," I thought, "I'll just save the list once I get them in the order I want, then if it forgets I'll just overwrite the list with my saved configuration." But when I do that, it doesn't help, the favorites are still listed in order of frequency.

So I thought I'd throw yet another problem at you and see what you think. I'm guessing since nobody else is commenting that remembering station order is a problem that it might have something to do with my particular configuration? The only thing I can think of is that I'm one of the few who actually uses AM stations, so when I rearrange the AMs and the FMs together perhaps the app is not able to handle that somehow?

Anyway, saving favorites order is not working for me. Glad to troubleshoot if you need to try anything. Thanks for the amazing program!

Thanks for your feedback...I would hope that if the program allows you to rearrange a screen it would always remember the rearrangement, or just not let you rearrange it in the first place. No one would want to rearrange their favorites more than once.

I would think the most common use case would be people would scan for all the FMs and AMs they can get and leave those bands alone, then pick their favorites, then rearrange them and keep them displayed. While they could rearrange the FMs and AMs, there's not much reason to if they're not stations they listen to much.

ALSO (very opinionated here!) I like the idea of being able to arrange my AMs amongst my FMs. There's no reason for that not to be allowed, and it makes sense if you categorize your stations.

Anyway, certainly if you save your configuration in a file it should also remember positioning for each band? Thanks for answering, and I will look forward to the next few updates to see how the new bands function! Thanks for considering my comments!
I have a good news: i was able to fix the FAV problem of reordering the list after app start.
I still need to to male some more tests but i beleive that by next weekend i could release the new version.

    SOME TIPS:
    TOGGLE SCREEN NORMAL/FULL:
    - Double Click on the station information toggle fullscreen on/off.

    NORMAL SCREEN:
    - Long press on the station information popup the "ADD Station" dialog window if the station is not in your station list. If it's already in your list, it will focus the relative station button.
    - Long press on a station button bring up the "EDIT Station" dialog window
    - Single press on screen arrows <> does a small frequency step fwd/back
    - Long Press on screen arrows does a quick search fwd/back

    FULLSCREEN MODE:
    - A Single press of the arrows <> switch to next/previous station
-A Long press on station information(center of the screen) bring up the "EDIT Station" dialog window.
    - In interface settings you can remove the big frequency in background if a logo is available.
    - In settings you can hide status bar, activate the clock and a speed gauge

    STEERING WHEELS CONTROLS:
    - The steering wheels commands act exactly in the same way as the fullscreen arrows, they just need to be setup in the correct way in carsettings application.

    FAVORITE LIST:
    - The FAV list is the result of merging FM and AM favorites, so you can have both frequencies in the same list.
    - FAV stations can be edited within the fav list but cannot be added. You need to be on fm or am list to add a station and set it to favs.
    - Deleting the FAV list will just remove the fav flag from the fm/am stations but will not delete them.
    - Deleting AM/FM list it will delete the FAV list too.

    LOGOS:
    - you can use your own station logos, you just need to know where you have them stored and browse for them when editing a station.
    - To get the stations Logos from the app you have to set the nationality of the logos in the interface menu, download and extract them.
Once they are extracted you have to edit each saved station to assign the logo image to it.
    - The automatic assignment of the Logos is based on the RDS id of the radio stations (pi code) and the search of the logo by RDS name.
The first method (by id) is faster and more precise but it needs that the name of the logo contain the picode of the station and for this purpose i renamed them for some of the available countries. Of course i cannot make them all and the functionality of this method depend of the availability of correctly named logo images for your country.
The second method (by name) is less accurate and it work comparing the RDS name with all available logos. If the rsult of the comparison is 100% correct the logo is autoamatically assigned. If the result are more then one logo, a dialog window popup asking you to choose it.

AF (Alternative Frequencies) handling: (Doubleclick to switch between stored AF)
AF service allows the radio tuner to tune in to an alternative frequency when the signal becomes too weak. The minimum level signal can be set in factory settings (Auto Search Stop) and has been found
that around 30 db is the best choice.
To improve even more this service I added an automatic storing of the alternative frequencies so that every time a new frequency is received, it's added in a list.
After an autoscan some radio stations can be found on different frequencies, NavRadio+ have an option (in Settings/radio) to automatically merge the frequencies in just one button populating the AF list
The frequencies available in this list can be selected using the station editor or switched one by one DOUBLECLICKING on the station button.

    NOTES:
I'm the only developer of the app and I work on it every single day for some hours a day.
I try my best to develope the app at best of my possibilities and I wish at evey release that it is bug and crash free.
This is very hard to achieve, even if I have some very good friends that help me testing it.
I'm really thankful to them for their help and support.

Thank everybody who beleive in my work and thanks for understanding. :)

Some more news for this week (the image should be self explanatory):
    x7TCQF9.png

Then there some more countries with automatic logos:
Belgium, Czech rep., France (tnx @Timpuli), Hungary, Croatia
Italian logos are still worked out and I'm waiting for friends to prepare the German and Spanish logos (they are really too many).
I'm fixing again Agama metadata for no RDS users and liveRDS.
Other minor bugs are fixed too.
Next week i'll concentrate on after sleep resuming and AF alternative frequencies.

I uploaded on YouTube a small video showing the new upcoming Drag&Drop + Swipe feauters of NavRadio+

It's a demostration of the new new drag & drop and swipe features of NavRadio+, now you can
    - Easily Change order of the memorized stations.
    - Delete a station with swipe gesture.
    - Add an Alternative Frequency to a station by dragging.

    VIDEO HERE

Suggestions and comments are wellcome ;)

Then please go ahead and write such app for yourself, if you think that it's so easy and cheap to do.

There's nothing wrong with asking some money for a good software. Things don't have to be for free and I'm pretty sure that @KoTiX2 so far put more hours of work into this project than it payd back, if you look at it at a monitary basis. There surely also is a lot of enthusiasm in this project.
