Thanks man!

I want to look into this. I'd prefer a portable linux distro, but I'm a Linux n00b, so I don't know which distro's would support this. So, even better would be Win7 drivers for this device.

Can you please give me some details about the usb/fs drivers you use (how is the usb-device and the filesystem recognized? ext4?)

I know you're already working on it with OS Builder. Maybe it's possible to insert an provxml in one of the wmparts and then hardreset and let coldinit.exe do the Interop Unlock. But it would be best to get access to exfat. Hopefully there's a way to accomplish that.

It seems it has more to do with firmware version than Serial/Zune menu availability on Diagnostics app. I haven't updated my Lumia, so I can't know for sure. Try powering down the phone and holding vol+, vol- & power. If windows detects a USB disk and tells you it's not formatted, it probably works for you (you can check it by going to Control Panel -> Administrative tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management)

AGAIN, BE CAREFUL, YOU CAN BRICK YOUR PHONE.
12070 lumia 800 gives a USB input in device manager but doesnt show anythign anywhere in disk manager.

so..i dunno wat to do..if i downgrade i feel sorry for the apps i got :p

I'm pretty sure biktor_gj has some specific drivers installed that allow him to do that. If I hold vol-up and vol-down while connected to windows, I see an extra device: USB\VID_0421&PID_05EE. Vendor ID 0421 is NOKIA. Product ID 05EE is unknown (to me). You need a driver on Linux or Windows to be able to do the connection. If you don't have a driver that connects to this device, the phone will not do anything. If you release the buttons, the phone will continue to boot.

The good thing about linux is that it detects the filesystems inside a partition even if its IDs are wrong, If I plug it on Windows (windows 8 consumer preview but it will work perfectly well on any other OS with usb disk support) it detects it as a USB mass storage device. The problem with Windows is it doesn't correctly detect the Fat32 partition (the partition containing adsp, amss and emmcboot) and asks if you want to format it. If it asks, SAY NO.

With the phone OFF, press and hold Volume UP+Volume DOWN+POWER until you notice a short vibration. Then plug it to the USB port and Windows should install the device like any other pendrive or usb hard disk.

This are the IDs (vendor:device): ID 05c6:9006 Qualcomm, Inc
As you can see it doesn't detect it as a Nokia phone, but a Qualcomm device. That's why I think some engineer at Nokia left some Qualcomm diagnostics application available on the phone. I don't know any other phone with this enabled, but there's something similar on a Huawei X5, which also uses a Qualcomm CPU. But to make my point clear, THIS SHOULDN'T BE ENABLED ON A PRODUCTION PHONE.

Also, just in case you need some more information about my phone:
Carrier: Vodafone Spain
Diagnostics App Version: 1.0.0.0
Firmware Revision: 1600.2475.7720.11414
Radio HW Revision: 8255
Radio SW Revision: 1.6.00.24
ROM Language: 0c0A (spanish)
ROM Version: 7.0.7720.0
OEM Device Name: RM-801 EU 214
Mobile Operator: VOD-ES
Mobile Operator Device Name: Lumia 800
Device HW Revision: 112.1402.2.3

Attached to this post you'll find:
EMMCBOOT.MBN: WinCE loader extracted from the Fat32 Partition
SDB1.ZIP: Contains a full dump of the first partition on the nand, containing the initial bootloader. I think this is just default Qualcomm bootloader
SDB2.ZIP: I think it has the second stage loader, including some kind of firmware update system.
SDB6.ZIP: Contains a full dump of one of the three 3Mb size partitions which I don't know what they are. Maybe you're luckier than me with them. I'd post my entire flash, but it has phone's IMEI, and all the file system on the phone, with all my contacts and stuff... and it's 15Gb in size and there's nowhere to upload that monster. But I'll leave here the hexdump of the 'head' of the file:

Thanks for info.

Unfortunately I can't reproduce the behavior. I'm on Firmware 12070 and diagnostics 1.7, Windows 7.

I've tried both zune and serial mode.

I tried some Nokia driver packages.

If I restart the phone and hold the buttons until the vibrate, I only get 1 extra NOKIA device; an input device.

At no point I get a QUALCOMM or Mass Storage Device, so at this point installing Linux will probably not help me any further :(

Great Thing you have found there ;) I don't have a Linux PC around right now and really not much time to look into These files. But I justr wanted to give Feedback about entering this Qualcom-Mode: On my (unbranded) Lumia 800 with 12070 everything works fine. I received every update through Zune but this shouldn't matter. So you don't need to downgrade your phone. I just hope that Nokia will not fix this with the next update.

Ok. I really don't understand why I can't reproduce this then :(

Edit: If I press and hold 3 buttons (vol-up, vol-down, power) the phone only gives a short vibration and screen stays black. Nothing will happen until I release the buttons. I get a long vibrate and then it will start with the NOKIA logo and boot to Windows. I don't get any message about a QUALCOMM or disk mode or anything.

Edit 2: My "Device OEM Name" is: "RM-801 EU NDT EURO1" and my "Mobile Operator" is: "000-33". This probably means I got some type of developer phone. Diag version 1.7, Firmware rev: 12070, OS: 7.10.8107. All revisions are the same as biktor_gj.

You wont see anything on screen since the display will stay black all the time
Release the buttons once you feel that short vibration, and plug the usb. If you keep holding power for more than 5 seconds you will reboot the phone...

let me know if that helped..

:( Both not working for me :(

I will try another computer tomorrow. But I doubt that will make a difference.

Also when I powered off and connect it to pc, the phone immediately powers on, so I'm not sure why I would need to press and hold the power button. I did it with and without power button; no difference.

Gonna try alternative ways and see if any of those work for you! Will edit with my findings

Try this: power off, hold vol up + down, keep pressing, and then keep pressing power.. After vibration, let go of power, plug in usb, and it should be detected in windows

Nope. Doesn't work. If I do that, nothing happens until I release all of the buttons. I get a long vibration and then the phone boots to windows. I think I tried all possible combinations already.

Thanks for helping,

I tried everything you guys have suggested.
I held two volume buttons and power. Released, noticed vibration. Plugged in to computer. Both Windows and Linux tell me it's "Nokia DLOAD". Shortly after, it will boot WP7.

Same if I plug in to computer first and then press volume and then power.

Is there a chance you guys got given some special developer device or maybe using a different country firmware?

The described behavior didn't work for me until I decided to update my firmware (12070 from other region -> official 12070 from navifirm/Nokia Care servers) using Nokia Care Suite. I was using it for the very first time, all previous manual updates were installed by updatewp.exe. Since I already was using 12070, but from other region, NCS didn't allow me to update, so only thing I had is to refurbish. What I noticed is that my phone received 2 updates, not one. First update was small, after rebooting phone showed standard 'The phone was updated', NCS meanwhile started sending 12070 update, then what I noticed again - phone didn't shut down with Goodbye words, its display just became black and in Device Manager a new device Nokia DLOAD appeared (I suspect short update was some driver to be able to use this mode), there was some progress moving in Nokia Care Suite after that, finally in some minutes I got the updated but cleaned up handset. What I also noticed, I can now use vol up + vol down combination while powering on to put Lumia into this Nokia DLOAD state (feeling a short vibrate while powering on instead of long vibrate as with usual boot up). I don't have Linux, but neither Windows/Mac show disk drives. Going to install linux now :)
Hoping this helps someone ;)

How did you dump your 15GB partition? Just dd'ing the device to a file?

Sent from my Lumia 710 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Well, I first did a DD of the entire disk just in case, and then a DD of all the partitions except partition 5 which is the Extended partition container...

Key combination which work for me:

Hold Power for more than 5 Seconds: Soft reset
Hold Camera+Power: Seems like what you guys call "Nokia DLOAD". I get a picture of a phone and a laptop on screen for some seconds, then it reboots to Windows Mobile. My linux box detects it as a Microsoft HID device:
Code:

Hold Volume UP + Power: I also get the mass storage device mode:

EDIT: Shame on you you made me boot to Windows 7 :p
About the Camera+Power key combo, if I plug it to the usb port, then press and hold camera+power, and then release power when I see the picture with the phone and a laptop (attached a photo), Windows 7 actually downloads a driver and puts the phone in something like a MTP device. Cannot access it on anyway, but when it doesn't have any driver it just says Windows Phone, when it installs the driver from Windows Update it calls itself 'SEARAY' (the mainboard codename)

EDIT2: Dump Tool is doing something guys! after 15 minutes my Mac Mini is starting to get a little hot...

What did you say you needed for InteropUnlock? :)
Dumping all the contents of the flash right now... Let's hope I can build them back!

Any instructions I could follow to recompile the imgfs into something flashable with InteropUnlock enabled?

EDIT3: Attached logs of everything...
EDIT4: This is what Dump Tool said after some minutes when I clicked 'Create Packages'

Creating template...Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow.
But Advanced Dump Tool shows Packages, the tree structure etc. Don't know where to move forward...

I'm uploading copies of partitions and the structured flash dump to MediaFire so you can take a look to whatever you want... If you don't see it there, it means it's still uploading!

Have you flashed the newest version using NaviFirm or Zune?
I used NaviFirm to flash my 710 (lets face it, chipset-/spec-in-general-wise they are the same) and it works perfectly.

I'll try to dump, unpack and repack mine in a few minutes.
