Thanks yeah I got it up and running. It is still a waste of time still at this point. I would like to help improve compatibility, but I don't have the required expertise, is there any good references to learn from so that I can get a better grasp on this. Thanks

Would this work on the at&t variant? If not could someone port it, I'm not all that good with potting. If it is compatible could someone post any directions that are different than the already posted ones?

I have no idea what you are talking about, but feel free to make the rom your way

As Ubuntu is running in a separated container on top of an Android kernel and services, the communication between them happens via Binder, Sockets and libhybris.

Ok, I will explain it to you. YOU CAN"T REMOVE THE ANDROID FILES FROM THE ARM CHIP. Its locked down and all you are doing it over writing a boot file. Just like all the other roms out there. Yes, I have worked on Arm chips, it was over 5 yrs ago. You can put files on there and lock them down so no one can remove it without the proper commands. This is why they use an Arm chip becuase they have a nice lock down feature for developers so no one can steal their files. If you think I am talking out my butt, try this. Go into recovery, do a wipe, remove your sim, and then boot up your phone. It will boot up to the factory settings of the phone. Which are the files you need to replace if you want it to run properly. Until then, basically you have a dual boot system with the bootloader only loading Unbuntu.

I am glad to see the intrest in porting Ubuntu over as I am in possesion of a N7100. I was a dev on the HTC way back 7+ yrs ago. Anywho, would like to port Ubunto to my device once it is finished. I am disabled now and may not be much good but can try and support. I have to use my N2 for all calls, sms, video, email ect. Well you get the picture?

Is there a way to build the phablet-armhf for our self or can we try to flash the normal trusty-preinstalled-touch-armhf.zip also.

The mako, maguru, manta,... ones are the specific for Nexus devices i know.

Code:
phablet-dev-bootstrap -j 4 ubuntu-touch
with

Code:
ERROR:phablet-dev-bootstrap:Error while trying to sync repository
something about cannot verify sign of v.1.12.7

Code:
gpg: Unterschrift vom Mit 16 Okt 2013 23:46:04 CEST mittels RSA-Schlüssel ID 692B382C
gpg: Unterschrift kann nicht geprüft werden: Öffentlicher Schlüssel nicht gefunden
error: Konnte Markierung 'v1.12.7' nicht verifizieren
did the repo changed, or is this only a temporary error?

Maybe
you need to update repo :)

Code:
curl https://dl-ssl.google.com/dl/googlesource/git-repo/repo > ~/bin/repo
chmod a+x ~/bin/repo
