Please, quit whining about DLNA.
If you want DLNA, i'm sure we could all suggest you to go back to stock...
End of discussion.

There is so many workarounds for a bunch of stock apps with cm7. I didn't ask for dlna included by default on cm7 I just want a way to include by myself if I want to.

Testing 110830 nightly with a Transcend 16GB class 6 card. Haven't had any issues like black screen or apps not being able to write to it like before. Awesome work!

The touch to focus doesn't actually work the way it is supposed to does it?
Sure it shows a green box around the area you touch but it still uses the spot/metered way to focus at approximately the center of the picture no matter where you touch :D

Try it out keeping your hand at the bottom (near) while pointing the phone at something at a distance.

Same here. Why to implement uch a software feature if hardware doesn't support it? Like 720p recording for green lens.

Then just do it. You 'just' need to copy all the DLNA related binaries in /bin and /lib and then figure out why dlnasrv fails with an IPC error. I tried, but eventually gave up. I don't think you can expect me to debug this binary crap over multiple days when I (and seemingly the majority of users here) don't see a use for this app.

Ask Motorola ;)
The camera app just tells the clicked rectangle coordinates to the driver, everything else is handled there (inside Moto code).

Dont get me wrong! I think cm7 its a wonderful rom, but i see devs helping for different stock apps to be on cm7... I figure out that is an error with framework files, but i can't locate where exactly...... so, i gave up (like you) and now i'm using ms2ginger rom.

Maybe when HD recording be ready, i will come back to cm7

Hi all, first of all I just want to say, CM7 kicks ass! Now that that's outta the way....I'm having some problems with the portable hotspot feature. I was previously on RC1V2 and I had to use the Wireless Tether app + hostapd from ZTE blade workaround in order to get wifi tethering to work. Now, I've updated to the latest 831-179 nightly (which completely rocks! great battery life and super smooth overall). I've tried using the portable hotspot feature that's been built into CM7 but there's no data being pushed out (although I can still setup the mobile AP and I can actually connect to my Defy, there's limited connectivity and I can't browse any web pages). My IP settings on my desktop haven't changed when I was still previously on RC1 and wifi tethering was working perfectly then. I've also tried using the Wireless Tether app again, but to no avail (shows error on log that says: error initiating wifi module, error starting hostapd). My 3G connection is fine on my Defy, web pages loading and everything. I would greatly appreciate any help, I've been using this feature a lot since our home internet has intermittent problems, so the wifi tethering has been a real life saver. I've already tried reflashing the nightly, still no luck. Is there any solution short of re-flashing froyo? Once again TIA and keep up the great work!

I know that I already asked for this but....someone knows how to make the video camera work without the freez? I have a defy with red lense. I wipe and made a fresh install...but I cant get it work. I mean I cant record in wide, just in low resolution I dont have any lag...but the quality is aweful.

I saw that there is a patch for the stock camera to record in HD...why we cant use that?
Try a better micro sd

Updated from RC1V2 to new "Keira Knightley" 110901-1516 - few weird things happened:
  • Flashed BOOT179-4, no problems (flashed quicker than I expected but seemed to work)
  • Rebooted, saw new Epy7 logo :)
  • Reboot to stable recovery. Wiped cache, wiped dalvic
  • Selected install zip from sd card and navigated to 110901 nightly
  • I got a screen with the android and the box but no text. I expected the screen where I have to scroll down to confirm the install. Pressing the phone buttons resulted in the phones haptic feedback but the screen never changed.
  • Pulled battery and rebooted, tried again and it worked fine.

After the nightly was installed I went to gallery and the gallery seemed to get stuck in an "updating gallery" loop. I pressed back and got a Force Close on the gallery.
Rebooted and the gallery seems OK.

Swype beta now gives a licence error so I guess I will have to uninstall and re-install - but I think this is to be expected ?

The main thing I will be looking out for is an improvement in battery life with the change of kernel and the new nightly.

I'm just glad I didn't fry my motherboard like the last time I updated from RC0 to RC1 - it's taken me this long to get the balls to update again. :D

I have a 8GB sandisk class 4 microSD card and do not have any freezes on my red lense defy. I'm on the latest nightly 110901-1516, but didn't have freezes with earlier nighlies either.

I've posted a few comments about the video quality beeing worse (laggy/choppy) compared to a green lense/soc defy. Recent tests and comparisions do not show any difference anymore for me. The quality of videos for both red & green lense defy's is pretty much the same and quite good in my opinion. Maybe the video quality improved in the latest nightlies (not sure when and why) or I didn't test properly.

I've been on and off on this thread, reading when I have time to, but I'm far from being completely up to date with it.
I'm on RC1 v2 and I must say I'm having LOTS of trouble, but I don't know if it's just my hardware or if the ROM is messed up.
It freezes a lot ( when waking it up from sleep, for example ) Radio gets messed up when interrupted by any notification sound ( sms, calls, etc ) text messages don't usually go out on the first try, etc.
Usually a reboot resolves things, and because of that I'd asume that the problem is in my rom. SO, before I lose all hope and decide to go back to the boring stock rom, I think I'll try updating to some nightly that you guys can confirm is working fairly good ( keeping in mind this is still RC1 ).
So, here are my questions.
Where can I download BOOT179-4 ?
what nightly would you recommend ?

BTW, I checked and I have the Bayer Camera Module, BUT I can't tell if it's lens is green or red, SO, I was guessing that if it is red, 720p recording should work, right? ( don't wanna risk flashing a stock SBF without knowing that for sure )

Wow, that was a mouthfull, thanks in advance for reading, people.

@SeiferTV

CM7 doesn't support HD recording. Maybe this will change in the future. I have also a bayer module and I believe the lense color doesn't matter. The module is what matters.

I'm on the very latest nightly (cm7-110901-1516-NIGHTLY) and all works perfectly.
I got there by first installing cm7-110822-1650-BOOT179-4 and then the nightly on top. But I don't think only installing the latest nightly will make a difference. You'll be then on the BOOT179 kernel and not BOOT179-4.

Here's how I install the nightlies and didn't have any issues so far.

Boot into 2ndInit -> Recovery -> Stable recovery (simply press power button -> reboot -> recovery)
Select "Wipe cache"
Go to "Advanced"
Select "Wipe dalvik cache"
Select "Wipe battery stats" (you don't need to do this for every nightly you install)
"+++++Go Back+++++", then select "Install zip from sdcard", "choose zip from sdcard", then select nightly zip
Select "choose zip from sdcard", then select gapps
Select "+++++Go Back+++++", then "reboot your system now"

The link to the nightlies and gapps are on the first page of this thread. I also recommend you install the latest google apps (gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip) as well.

That's a normal state for FM Radio even if you install CM7 properly. People said that it is possible to be only a problem with my Defy but it's really a software problem. With Connected Music Player ported from stock Froyo or leaked GB those problem doesn't exist (instead of that, CMP has problem with loosing saved radio stations after reboot).

The best of the FM bugs, is that one when someone calls me and I answer but the radio continues playing. Oh yea...is great. :p

I think this has a lot to do with the laggy recording people have at HD resolution - my HD (1080p) camcorder needs a minimum of a Class 6 card to record HD - how many who are complaining they have laggy video are using Class 2 cards? Plus, the Defy doesn't officially support 720p, so maybe, just maybe, its never going to actually work (and how many attempts have the devs now had at trying to make it work?) - for sure it won't work with a class 2 SD card trying to write a 3+mbps data stream....

0831, vibrating as normal in 'only silent' and 'always' modes as set in sound settings.
It vibrates in each setting - never, always, in silent mode, etc. - does not matter.
It my opinion it should be quiet when in a silent mode.
yeah we are talking about 08-22.
Maybe next nigtly (keira) will work fine.

Keep up the good work devs - I hope you know devs how many people got great phone because of you!
