It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Note - If you get installation error, try removing first line(Upto the first semi-colon from the updater-script) and then flashing again.
OR use this META-INF folder and replace with the one from the ROM!

- Wipe Cache/Data
- Wipe Cache Partition
- Wipe Dalvik Cache
- Install Zip From SD Card
- Select the ROM's zip and then, GApps
- Done
- First Boot Can Take Some Time
