Ah thanks but looks like the first backup was overwritten (clicked enable hotspot twice) so this file is the modified one. I guess I should have it incrementing the backups and add some logic to the restore to pick from them.

Well if it's not much trouble on the s5 could you click restore via hfa, let it reboot a couple times to finish (you wont loose any data), click enable hotspot, then undo/restore. The telephony.db.bk file will be the one I need after that.

Again much appreciated!

Dang it is still the modified one. Well if you have a file explorer can you do restore via hfa and grab the file from
data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db

or terminal emulator
cat data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db > mnt/sdcard/s5.db

or adb
adb pull data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db s5.db

It's weird, looking up that phone says it supports gsm/umts. But the apn for global roaming is missing. Have you flashed any framework mods? Or even just link me to the mods this phone has applied.
The only framework mods is xposed. I only use a couple of modules. Blacklist, MinMingaurd, Multi window plus, Pandora patcher. Other mods are Mother of all ad blacker( just replaces host file) roam control app. I think that's all I have done the my wife's S5.

Roam control might be causing a problem. I'm not 100% I'll go search it out and see if it causes hotspot problems on my note3 here.

ya just read up on it (not going to buy it to test) I'm pretty sure now it's whats causing a conflict.

If you want disable it uninstall or whatever and try apk from first post of this thread again. Roam control does seem to touch the same file hotspot activation check resides in.

I use it on my Note 3 all the time. It's install on the S5. it's been only used once to test it.

The one with 4 apns is what you got from the s5 after the hfa, the one with 26 apns is from the note 3 after a hfa. S3 one has 18 as it lacks all the global ones.

I guess I just need to get this file from one more s5 to be sure it really only has 4 apns.. S4 is working with same one as note3.

sorry I had to crop the one screen shot till it fit the forums size requirement.

NG2 Update

Can you confirm if HotSpot Enabled for L720VPLFNG2 Baseband? I'm running SuperS4 V2.0 NG2 Rom. clicking the Enable Native Hotspot button, waiting about 5 mins, rebooting and getting "Hotspot Error: You are not subscribed to the Hotspot service. Do you want to see subscription options?"

I am uploading new version now. I had added support for SPH-L720T but not SPH-L720 the other day. Both variants are supported now.

Of course it's rooted. The app was granted superuser, I clicked "enable native hotspot" and waited about 20 seconds. Nothing happened. Rebooted the phone and then it gave me the prompt saying I needed to subscribe in order to enable hotspot.

Is there a step I am missing?

Never mind! :)

I got it to work! I guess I didn't wait long enough before rebooting.
Thank you! :)
