My problem sounds very similar to the one in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z4-tablet/help/indicate-freeze-black-screen-4x-t3286996
but I don't used xposed or anything custom software, just vanilla Sony Xperia Z4 Android.

My Xperia Z4 was working fine this morning with normal use. Suddenly, it said it was overheating, although it was cool to the touch and shut down automatically. After that I couldn't turn it back on. I went home, did a reset (power button + volume up until 3 vibrations), connected it to a charger and the red light came on a bit. I could hear the noise from the power button, and when I connected it to my PC USB, it was detected, but the screen is completely black.

Is my screen dead? i.e. hardware problem rather than software?

Hi,
If your tablet is detected by your PC try a repair via Sony PC companion. There are chances that the tablet is dead :crying:

I tried Sony PC companion, it reinstalled the tablet successfully and I turned it on. The Sony startup sound came up but the screen remains completely black. I guess something is wrong with the hardware then? The funny thing is though, that the touchscreen seems to be working, when I randomly touch the screen I hear the keytap sounds. It's just that nothing is displayed.

Return the tablet to warranty (I think the screen is dead)
