Device temperature too low, can't charge oneplus 5

I own an OnePlus 5 that I have used for a couple of months with stock OOS and locked bootloader and unrooted. I have always used an original dash charger and cable. However, few days ago the phone became unresponsive to the charger and after the battery died. When I reconnect the charger now, it gives a message that device temperature too low, can not charge and when I turn it on the battery shows 50% charge when I remove the charger it turns off after a short while. The phone didn't suffer any drop or water damage or any other kind of accident. The phone is not under warranty so, I need to find a way to charge the phone. I have searched for the problem on many forums and some point out to a faulty temperature sensor on the battery and others point to the daughter charging board while some say there's an issue with the motherboard. Is there anyone who could troubleshoot the problem precisely.
Or, Is there a way, to flash a custom kernel which could turn off the temperature sensor on the battery, if it's there.
Also, needed to know that will the problem go away after a battery replacement?
I have wiped cache and data, downgraded the phone from Pie to Oreo and nothing seemed to work. Some people suggested putting it to rest for 24 hours, I also did that, but to no avail.
Hi friend,
I've recently incurred with the same issue. I currently have OxygenOS version OP5_O2_Beta_29 and Android Pie installed on my phone. The customer care has advised me to downgrade to OxygenOS version to some oxygen version (and not downgrade to Oreo version) as the beta version is only for testing by developers. I'm not quite sure about this after reading your post. I wanted to know from you have you been able to solve your problem (by any means: battery change, temp sensor thing or OxygenOS version downgrade)?

Please reply soon as this will be very helpful!
Thank You

Sorry brother but I'm afraid an OS downgrade is very unlikely to help in this case. When I faced this problem, I tried 4-5 diffrent roms including downgraded OxygenOS but none helped.

You were right, I downgraded but it was of no help! I downloaded the Official Build version from the official website but it didn't work out. Can you suggest what exactly should be done in this case? Will be of much help!

I had the exact same issue. My mechanic just changed the charging port. And everythings ok. Just got the phone in my hand. Don't know if the dash charging would work anymore. But hey! got the phone working atleast! ?

Did you read the solutions within this thread?
i did, but I'm pretty sure mine didn't suffer any drops or water damage,, it just suddenly happened..
I'll try with letting it rest (powered off) for more than 24 hours.. if that won't help,, ill try to kill battery by using it until it turns itself off and charge again while off (even if it shows me low temperature screen)..
ill also try with charging it in a warm place so that the sensor may start detecting again (sounds dumb,, but it worked for some ppl)..

so, what do you suggest?

When I suffered, I tried almost all possible methods out there without success. A brand new battery solved my problem.
