Hi, this reply is mostly for "educational purposes only" because I wanted to share with you guys how the flashing process went in my case:
Hi, 1st of all great job by making a custom rom for Omnia 7 and other Samsung 1st gen phones. However, I have a problem. i know smone else mentioned the same problem before, but the solutions provided didn't work for me. The problem is as follows:
-When I try to install the bootloader I get this error:
[Error Description]:
Please make sure that your device is connected to your computer.
also make sure that right drivers are installed (SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe)
Try to connect device to different USB port and also you can try to reboot PC.
Also you can try to exclude USB hubs.
[Info]: USBWorkDMLI_SAM.cpp (173)
Now, I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on AMD CPU (installed various Samsung USB drivers but no change). The strange thing was that when I installed the drivers I plugged in my Omnia 7 in DLMODE, and Windows started installing the appropriate drivers (and it seems it did it from the internet and not from my HDD). However, the DFT bootloader cannot get past the error screen. I even tried the process in Windows XP SP3 x32 (because I have dual boot on my desktop computer) but the same error appears. AND THEN I tried to do it on my laptop under Win XP Pro SP3 but the OS there can't even recognise the drivers for my phone. i forgot to mention that I don't have Zune installed on my laptop, do I have to have zune in order to install Samsung USB drivers for mobile phones?
My phone stats are:
OMNIA 7 8GB
OS version 7.10.8107.79
Firmware rev num: 2424.11.9.4
Hardware rev num: 3.15.0.4
Radio soft ver: 2424.11.9.1
Radipo hard ver: 0.0.0.800
Bootloader ver: 5.9.3.0
Chip SOC version: 0.36.2.0
AND my phone is Chevron unlocked (no interop unlocked). Updated via Zune regularly.
Thanx in advance.
EDIT:
Hi, I managed to install it and it works (I had to do it on my Win XP SP3 laptop BTW, and YES, you must have Zune and Samsung drivers for it to work. However, I couldn't put ActiveSync or WMCD because they are not for SP3 apparently, but it worked, nevertheless. Strange thin though, was that it said ERROR No rapitool.dll (or something) but it continued with flashing the rom. When it finished flashing, my OMNIA 7 displayed the "Computer to phone" screen (I dunno what's its real name) and then I unplugged the phone, turned it off manually (by pressing power off). Then, as suggested, Cleared the storage, and then, again, it showed the same screen "CPU to phone" but after 10 seconds it turned to OMNIA 7 screen and just stood there like a dead rabbit. I turned it off and on again and then it showed OMNIA 7 and after some seconds it continued booting and the initrial Windows Phone 7 setup began. Nice work DFT
I tried installing Orbital (an XBL game, cracked, and it's working, yeey). I'll try later tonight the GPS and other stuff. And yeah, I did that registry thingy to disable relock and it works
EDIT:
yeah, I noticed one thing: before flashing, whenever I connected the phone via USB cable and started Zune, the phone used its modem to connect to internet via USB and it updated my email and stuff, but now, it doesn't seem to do that anymore. have I turned something off? Please help
EDIT:
Hmmm, how am I supposed to add a ringtone for message alerts? I mean, adding ringtones for...well ringtone is ok. even the alarm accepts new ringtones but sms messages don't. What gives?
EDIT:
Bazaar works

I noticed significant battery drain compared to the stock rom update, but hey...
Plus I installed wp7 root tools 0.8 but I can't access the Windows folder, is this normal?
