My provider is Movistar Argentina and the toll free number is *611. I called there on my D3 XT862 and suddenly I got a "Welcome to Verizon's roaming call center" or something like that. So there goes 4 dollars on a freaking international phone call I did not ask for.

Any idea why this is happening? Do I have to change something in build.prop?

Thanks

I used to have this issue with my Droid2 Global. It is a radio (baseband) issue. You can't control call forwarding or use USSD codes for the same reason. Maybe the radio from XT883 will work fine? Give it a try. Verizon made that all with one purpose... use the phone with their service only.
This is exactly why now I use XT860 and not Verizon's XT862
But as I said, flashing XT883 radio will likely solve all these problems (and will also allow you to use the phone on GSM in the States)

Here's a possible solution just dial the carriers toll free 800 number just program it to your address book its the same as dialing *611
