love my Samsung Note 4 but I left it on the taxi. Never got returned. Was looking for a replacement. AMOLED is the best coming from the Note 4. So looked for the perfect s8 plus variant. Settled with g955u lots of LTE bands than the variant being offered in my country plus I travel a lot to the USA so might as well get the USA variant.
Well got my first taste of disappointment. I the USA no problem with LTE. But here in PH it does connect to LTE but no CA (Carrier Aggregation). So much for those numerous LTE bands supported by snapdragon. But CA is really not working here. The local carrier has 2X CA band 3 and 28. Sadly the g955u only connects to 1 LTE band at a time. It will not CA. This more the Tmobile's fault more than anything. My unit is Tmobile unlocked. Servicemode does not help. Tmobile removed it from the latest firmware. No UE Settings.

I plan on selling the unit. Speed, Screen, Design is quite satisfactory. I did not root mine. I stupidly upgraded to bootloader 2. How stupid of me!!!!

it is just purely network issue. LTE 4XCA is not wokring in different places outside of the USA. It has all the lte bands you wish for.

so Do I regret buying the S8 plus?? Partly yeah. if only the LTE 4XCA can work also outside the USA. This phone would be great.

I did!
For two main reasons...

1. I forgot how bad/non-existent dev support is for these devices, i.e. no LOS/AOSP etc due to their closed source nonsense. For a bit of a flashaholic, slightly different modified default Samsung stock ROMs are just not the same. No offense to anyone.
2. The fact that the notification pull down STILL lagged on such a fast phone realllllly irked me. I just don't get that

I gave my S8+ to my partner and I got the Razer phone.

if I didn't get 2 phones for $800 (TMOBILE BOGO) then I would regret it. The snapdragon locked bootloader ruined the fun for me.
If I had known the bootloader would stay locked, I might have paid the extra few hundred for a Pixel 2XL

That said, the screen, camera, and battery are much much better than any other phone I've had.

At first. I thought the s8+ wasnt worth the monet i spent. I thought it was horruble at the beginning and bricked, went backwards to a nexus 6. Let me tell you, after days ans about a month using the s8+, there is really nothing like it in my opinion. I bought another s8+ and swapped parts from my old phone. So now i have a tmobile s8+ with att sim and an unbricked att s8+( flash whatever on it dont care.)
I have to say in my experience so far, the only irritation o have with the s8+ is texting or typing. For some reason it doesnt work well with me. Alwayd misspelling so i always have to back track and correct. Other than that, this is handsdown the best phone on the market. If you like speed and fluidity, this is the phone to own.

i was smitten with the s8+ via youtube reviews when it was released......but only once got to hold one in a shop briefly. not long enough......anyway, was due an upgrade and got it via my carrier posted to me.....i liked it....actually i still do....but i say that with a pause.

i have learned that youtube videos are wrong way to find a phone you think you'll like....you get no real idea of real world size....as camera is closer than your eyes will be from it and then you could be watching youtube on say a big tv...even if a laptop you still dont get a true idea of size......i.e. you could zoom in on a 4" screen and make it look massive.

my issue is the aspect ratio which i struggle to get comfortable with like 16:9.....i have figured out to my understanding that we dont read content on phones top to bottom...we read sentences sideways...typically your hand will be covering the bottom of the screen or your thumb is there waiting to scroll......if you really watch people read web pages, they get a third of way down and scroll up, so only really concentrating on top third of screen.
also...top corners hard to reach on that aspect ratio.....and...at 6.2" with that ratio its no wider than my old note 4 at 5.7".....so i dont really feel like i got a bigger screen........aspect ratio is a funny thing.....from a distance a small traditional 16:9 looks just as big.
i am kinda sorry....sometimes....i didnt consider something like a c9 pro and had an opportunity to hold both and take my time......although...saying that, c9 not waterproof....i walk in rain a lot so important to me...as is ois on camera....so s8+ is all i need......i do like fm radio on phones, but thats all its missing

g955n here, I have no regrets the phone is great and i feel it never fails me in 99% cases.
Since im on korean stock I have some software limitations but i plan on rooting in future so no biggie.
If I had to say one thing that bothers me is that coming from a one handed phone this one is just impossible to use single-handed(i dont have small hands, but this could be subjective).
This means in the street and outdoors I spend way less time with phone in hand then before which is not a bad thing, I do whatever I need to do like take pics and whatsapp so quick that there rly is no need for frequent one handed operation. That said there definitely are situations where i wish I had the smaller version, no 6gb 3500mah s8 version though so.... I think I made the right choice.

It is a good phone to have, it is fast, has a good display and does not get uncomfortably hot like the previous gen snapdragon phones. The few downfalls are that it does have glass on front and back (copied from iPhone 4), and the unbreakable, locked bootloader. The bootloader is the biggest thing that turns me away from this phone and potentially future galaxy phones now. Seeing that everyone is giving up on trying to unlock the BL is very sad but as well understandable. I am thinking about switching to either a Pixel, Essential phone, or the Xiaomi Black Shark.

For the most part no, I'll credit Samsung (or maybe Google?/Android) for limiting the worst of TouchWiz excesses. Where I am a bit more annoyed is that since I have a Canadian variant of the S8+ (G955W), is the lack of FM Radio support which to me is fundamentally unfair when G955U's and G955U1's have it, it's the same hardware! Rogers also bundles a lot of stuff I wish I could get rid of (apps that can be disabled, but bookmarks I can't delete in Samsung Internet) I'd like to root my phone but its not as flexible as say rooting a Pixel or a OnePlus, or an Essential phone.

As a day to day phone it's great its just not a phone for the hobbyist/power user who likes control over their actual phone. I shouldn't have to decide between WiFi calling, VoLTE support or FM Radio just because Rogers wants more revenue from wifi/data enabled radio apps.

Yes i do.
Expensive.
Slow development. Samsung software wise is crap.
Snapdragon - AFAIK it isn't fully unlocked.
It's my first broken phone from a stupid fall, and i'm in this business since 2002 when i first purchased a motorola v300. Hurray.

the list could just go on and on, but i'm not buying anything from samsung anymore, so i don't care.

At least the camera is good, i have to say. looking forward to get rid of it.

Still is one of the best phones around today. Great camera, great display, great design. Has good development on XDA (the Exynos version anyway). I wouldn't swap it out for any of the current latest flagships.

I always regret buying new electronic items for the simple fact that as soon as I commit and spend the money, I usually want the next version that has come out or will come out soon with better hardware and updated software/firmware/OS. But you have to take the plunge or you will simply never actually own a useful or fun electronic device.

That being said, I do like the S8+ (bought the G955N). Fastest, most responsive, stable phone I've owned yet.

I loved it till I tripped on the stairs a few days ago....it was in my pocket with an otterbox and I hit so hard that obliterated the screen and digitizer. The phone it self was bent.....>.< needless to say I have the S9+ now.
