I ordered my N7 during the IO in which it was announced. Been in a magnetic case since then, so about a year and a half. What do you "know" is harmful? A static magnetic field is unlikely to harm solid state electronics or affect their operation.

so should i remove the little magnet from the case ?

I keep my nexus 5 in my pants pocket and clip a fountain pen in the same pocket. the pen has a magnet that holds the top on. I realized today that the sensor/pen was constantly turning my phone on and draining the battery. the magnetoff exposed module solved this problem.

Lollipop disables magnetic switch

After installing Lollipop on my Nexus 7 (Wifi 2012) the magnetic sensor is not waking up my nexus, when opening my case as before. And when closing the case, the nexus is not disabled.

Maybe one more problem with Lollipop?

I have a huge problem with mine. It is always turns on whether I am closing or opening the cover. Plus my magnetic personality keeps it on even though I have a short screen timeout. It sucks that there isn't an option to turn this 'feature' off. I way prefer velcro.
