THIS WON'T WORK G4 H811 AMD A FEW OTHERS. CARRIER'S BYPASS IT.

Go to Wifi Test.

Go to OTA Setting.

Press Disable

"Delete all your wifi connections. TMO is forcing wifi on and if you've logged into your network you will be updated." (This last step is your only option at this point with some carriers forcing update over wifi even with OTA Disabled)

Then turn-off wifi. (Just added this as TMO forces update on wifi without prompt)

On the H815 under Settings -> General -> About Phone -> Update Center -> Software Update there are checkboxes for Check automatically and Auto-install updates. Unchecking them should prevent OTA.

You, good sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. Thanks for the info :)

Odd, my H811 just rebooted on its own and started a software update. When I checked the software version it says H81110h. I thought this is how it came out the box.

I'm on T-Mob H811 Software H81110d here. Just got phone Sunday, 6/7

Odd thing...when I went into that menu, my OTA was already set as Disabled before I pressed anything...

Ok...so I'm not crazy. I was worried about some forced update.

Maybe it had to do with the fact that I deny every one of the requests by LG, Google, and T-Mobile to "monitor their service they provide" or "provide automatic feedback" (I forget the exact wording) when I set the phone up. I never have liked the idea of sharing any info off my phone with anyone upstream of it. Just seems like a way to try to spam or sell me crap I don't need.

Did you also uncheck all those boxes during setup?

Yep. I don't do 'anonymous' statistics. Though clicking the box <insert paranoia/tin-foil hat here> doesn't necessarily mean you're turning it off...nothing says those boxes do anything one way or the other. :)

I work in the software industry, and I can tell you first hand that checking or unchecking the box changes very little about the data collected abour you. It's just there for legal reasons honestly

Kinda figured as much...just figure I would rather NOT give my permission than give it. At least then, I can say I didn't ask for their spam...

    Nice, H811 doesn't have that.
