I think I had about 15% left, but it sounds like that might have been the case

Yes, I see the sony logo and it just hangs there.
Hook it up to the charger and leave it hanging for at least 30 minutes.

Then flash any ftf which you have with a boot folder inside it (open the file with winzip), flash only the system and kernel, not wiping anything.

Then charge it to full before you continue.

Thanks so much for your help, will sling you a few bucks when I get paid next
Nut, you are the most beautiful of human beings. All is working, I was doing the exact opposite in your bootstall guide and flashing everything but the system and the kernel. Thank you so very much.

Well, then don't use PCC... Try using either flashtool or sus to flash.

Use one of the guides in the OP to guide you.
i did it with many .FTF's and doesnt seems work. i follow unbrick treads and doesnt work either :crying:

I think I'm going to take it to a cell phone fixer :(

What does your phone do and what doesn't it do?

You have said you have a bootstall, which means you have a sony logo and then nothing happens?

If so, disconnect USB, press power and vol-up at the same time and hold it until you feel your phone vibrate 3 times.

Then take flashtool and get it ready to flash an FTF, choosing what you think is safe to do (if you don't mind losing everything on the phone, then do a full wipe). Make sure it's on the screen instructing to connect your phone.

Then WHILE _holding_ volume-DOWN, connect your USB cable. You can let go of the volume key once the flashtool 'connect device' screen disappears.

What to do? Plz help!

I have a guestion, my xZ is somehow got in a bootloop. This all started yesterday morning.
I didn't had internet connection, so I decided to shut the phone down and then started it up.
This wasn't the problem, but when I wanted to unlock the screen, nothing worked the screen just freezed.
I only saw a black screen and after 30 seconds it just shut's down and then it starts up again, so it's in a boodloop.
After my battery was empty I fuly charged it. (When I put the Z on, it is going in a boodloop).
Luckily you don't need to put the Z on if you're restore the Z in PCC. So I have restored my phone
and everything just worked how it should when you're restoring a phone via PCC, but when I put it on,
it was still in a boodloop.
So this is wat happened.
Maybe I can send my phone back for a few weeks to Sony,
but maybe you can help me, do you guys have any idea what's going on and how to repair it?

I've tried to boot the Z via SUS but that also don't work.
When my phone starts up it says: 'The system is not working' And then it just starts up again and again..

Did you restore it including data wipe? You could try that, also try what happens if you remove your sd card, just to rule out a bad sd card, also try booting without sim.
Let us know how it worked out

On sus choose repair. The option is there. Anyway, that'll only work if your bootloader is locked. What phone do you have? What was the last working firmware, which country etc etc, give us some more info to work with

:D

Glad you got it working again :)
hi
I've "soft brick" problem on my ZL 6503 (bootloader locked) for about a year now (when I turn it off, I cant turn it on again, when I try to turn it on just vibrates and that's it.. I have to wait for about 4 hours and then I can start charging it and then turn it on..)
the problem first happened when I updated it through pcc from 4.1 to 4.2, before worked normally..
then I flashed it with flashtool, (original sony ftf rom) but the problem is still there..
should I try flashing only kernel? if so, should I try with flash mode (only kernel) or fastboot mode?

tnx

Dude, seriously: you should have backed up data and just have returned the device to Sony while in such a semi soft brick state...

I think these issues are caused by problems with the internal storage and specifically the bootloader bits.

The reason why it sometimes works and most of the time it refuses to boot is because of the emmc storage wear levelling... Sometimes you're just lucky enough to hit the sweetspot...

If you still have warranty (Europe as in the 'EU' warranty is 2 years, NOT ONLY ONE!), backup data, wipe your phone with a full ftf flash, take out sdcard and sim and return it to Sony or take it to a service centre. They should replace it whole or just the mainboard, no questions asked.

Just make sure they understand it only works after flashing it a gazillion times and repairing it using pcc an equal amount of times to get it to do ANYTHING. If you do, they probably won't bother to 'fix' your phone.

first thought I had was, I have to return it to sony... but I bought it in germany when I was there for work and I'm from slovenia and I didnt want to send it by mail.. the problem is only when I shut it down and I cant turn it on again (I have to wait for few hours), I think it's something related with battery (I even changed it), because after few hours when I start charging it, it from 1%, even if it was fully charged when I turned it off
when the device is on, it works normally
you think flashing only kernel would not help?
