I used my Xperia Z for navigation on my motor bike. At some point it just turned off and was very hot. The battery was also getting low, so I thought it just died because of that.

However, I am not able to turn it on anymore. In the beginning it just randomly turned off (like pulling the battery if that was possible) to the point where it would do that while in boot animation.

I can access and use fastboot and flashmode. I tried flashing stock rom with flashtool but that only leads to bootstall.
I have UL and can access recovery if I flash it with fastboot.

Any ideas what else I can try?

Sounds a bit like an empty battery or heat damage (vibrations while getting very hot can jolt connections loose...).

I'd put it in recovery and connected to the charger with the screen as dim as possible (preferably off) to fully charge it. Then when 100% charged run a backup a few times in a row using compression... If it doesn't switch off then try flashing a stock rom and boot it once you have recharged the battery to the same full 100%.

Thanks for the reply. I already tried EMMA (http://developer.sonymobile.com/services/flash-tool/how-to-download-and-install-the-flash-tool/). It said the device needs attention, then flashed. It worked once for a few minutes. The battery is fully charged.

While restoring a backup it also just turned off so I fear it is a hardware defect.

I had the same issue with my Xperia Z Ultra and flashing an FTF with Flashtool solved it for me.

Beware that Flashtool does not work properly on Win8.1. I actually had to install Win7 in order to make it work.

still stuck in soft brick. tried the red button on my xperia z2 tablet and so far nothing. no haptic feedback, no ability to turn on, no ability to install a custom rom to fix it. I was directed to this thread but thus far nothing to help. its bricked so bad the haptic feedback wont even acknowledge its there.

Sounds to me your battery might have died. Are you still able to get it in flash- or fastboot modes?

dies too

Great thread. I think I have a battery problem too.

A couple of days ago it just started bootlooping out of the blue. I can get into Recovery and reflashed ROM (beanstalk). Didn't help. I flashed stock (newest .283) in flashtool. It flashes ok but still will not boot past SONY screen.

After doing several times here's what I see: It will boot fine and allow me to setup/install/update without problem, but *only* when connected via USB to my computer. The moment I unplug (even though battery reads 50% or 72% or 99%---I've done this many times now) it shuts off like you flip a switch. I reset (via power and vol up) and I get a SONY screen and then all goes dead again.

Maybe a red herring, but it seems consistent now.

Any thoughts? No recent drops/water/new app install prior to problem that I'm aware.

Thanks--
Dave

Get Ndr utils from playstore. It has reboot to flashmode option. Requires root.
Thanks I did have NDR utils but after flashing I now have what appears to be a soft-bricked phone so anything which requires a boot is out. Can get flashtool to recognise my phone in fastboot mode. However flashing the stock ftf requires me to switch from fastboot to flashmode without using my volume down key. I think I'm screwed!

Hard Brick

Sory for english.
Could you help me with my harbricked xperia z? I followed this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/guide-xperia-z-c600x-hard-brick-fix-t2828585
My pc detect xperia as (S1 service with Vol-) or as S1boot fastboot. Flashtool can detect my phone in flashmode and in fastboot when I attach testpoint, but when i flash ftf everything i flashtool is ok but phone does not work. I bricked my phone by installing meow kernel (2.07.14) on Pac-rom -nightly 20141022 and phone rebooted with constant error com.android.phone has stopped ( just crash). Then I rebooted to recovery and tryed to restore backup witch i made before installation and i got md5 error:(. I rebooted and phone was dead. :crying:
