Hi, wanted to setup ICS on my Nook Color and have a spare 1GB card. The way I understand it .

Step 1. Flash the image over the SD card from this link : http://sphsolutions.net/android/Encore/Nightlies/Misc/generic-sdcard-v1.3-ICS.img.zip
Step 2 : Copy the latest ICS nightly to the SD card (boot partition) from this link : http://sphsolutions.net/android/Encore/Nightlies/CM9/
Step 3. Boot up Nook and it will install ICS and shut down
Step 4. Copy the gapps file to SD card (boot partition) from this link : http://sphsolutions.net/android/Encore/Nightlies/Misc/gapps-ics-4.0.3-sam-noinit.zip
Step 5 : Reboot into recovery, gapps will be installed.

Q1 . Is this correct?

Q2. If I want to flash the latest nightly then what steps to follow on top of this install?

Q3. The process for flashing files like : http://sphsolutions.net/android/Encore/Nightlies/Misc/telephony-permission-fix.zip is to simply copy to the SD card and reboot into recovery? Or do we get a proper CWM menu and have to install zip from SD card?

See this page and the two posts by leapinlar.

Have an issue that I don't believe has been brought up, and if it has I missed it. When I try to use TiBu, I get that message that says I have to go back to settings/applications and click the box to allow "unknown sources". But when I go into applications, that box is not there. Have I missed something?

Oh, and I'm on last nights "nightly" and I'm booting from my sd card.

The build that was just uploaded (update-encore-20120126.zip) is to big for my SD boot partition. Other than taking stuff out of the zip is there a way to increase the SD boot partition size?

That's because the settings in ICS is different from other OS's of android. That option used to be under apps but it got moved. "Unknown Sources" or something named similar to that, should be under the security tab in settings. Also, when you try to install the app and it gives you that error, when clicked, it should automatically bring you to the correct tab in settings.

Thanks! I figured it was something like that.

Thanks for the quick response, too! ;)

Use EASEUS free partition software and you increase your partition to max SD GB. Make sure to check on-line help to apply the partition. Many people in this forum have used it.

So are the two of you saying that you flashed the nightly from the 24th or 25th and it worked, just didn't show the extended power menu? 'Cause I think what sextonma is saying is that the nightly didn't work at all. In either case, I'm rebuilding from scratch right now so there'll be a new, scratch-built zip dated as the 26th uploaded as soon as this build finishes.
Sam, I flashed your nightly 20121024 and it worked. Build date still shows Thu Jan 19 (in Settings/about Tablet). But I am sure it was updated since Android updated, and I wiped cache.
The only issue I am having, and seen on previous nightlies, is when charging the tablet: The nook cable lights green(100%), however the battery is not charging , but discharging. I have to turn Tablet off and then on before it starts charging.

I've been using the last build (26th) for the last few hours, extended power notifications work and screen shot works. Also, seems like there are some new settings tabs, although most of them are placeholders. Also, this build is 10mb bigger than normal? It also seems a little bit slower than previous builds.

Problems I encounter:
-2 galleries. com.google.android.gallery3d and com.android.gallery3d
-Auto Mount and NookUMS still don't work and debugging is enabled.
-MTP seems to be broken for me. EDIT: Seems to only work if i enable stay awake (I can't let the screen sleep).

BUG: Performance tab doesn't let me change the CPU.

Side Note:
-Does anyone else have problems with their nook power button being too sensitive?

I don't know why the zip is bigger today than normal -- I'm going to ask around to try to figure out if something changed. EDIT: Sounds like the increase in filesize is because of the CM Settings beginning to be added.

Samiam303, can you change the .img file in the first post so that the new builds will fit in the boot partition? Maybe give it some extra space for all of the new features coming!

Thanks for your time and effort to provide us with these nightly builds.

I'll look into doing that, and will hopefully have an updated version soon!

Hey Sam, don't want to sound corny here but you've been great not only by giving us these builds but being really supportive as well. You're definitely one of the people that make coming to XDA an awesome experience. Thanks man.

I can change both the min and max speeds, just like with CM7. I don't know how/if this interacts with the Nook Tweaks settings.

Edit:
I checked later and it was back at 800 MHz and this time I couldn't change it. I don't have setcpu installed.

A short time later I got the popup saying that the battery was low (14%). A few minutes after that I got my first SOD since switching to ICS.

Just installed. My first comment is, why is the keyboard so ridiculously small? On CM7.1 I installed the ICS keyboard from the market and it worked really well at a nice size. Niw it's absolutely unusable. For now I'm on SwiftKey Tablet X which offers a "large" option that's still only barely on the verge of being big enough to use.

Sent from my Nook Color!
