i just rooted and installed cm9 on the 27th, using the build from the same day.
everything is going great, except for the two times i have opened the browser.
the nook just freezes, no response at all.
i can't do a battery pull like i can on a phone, what to do? i've had to let it sit and drain the battery overnight.
is there another way to reboot the nook when something like this happens? or is letting the battery drain the only way?
is the browser freezing for others or is it just me? will one of the newer builds from the 28th or 29th fix this issue, or should i just use another browser other than stock?
thanks for any and all help
Just hold the power button for several seconds. I have never had mine fail to turn off and be able to turn back on.

Edit: rick_v just beat me to it. LOL

Sam is trying to make an enlarged installer image so that folks won't have that trouble in the future. In the meantime, a temporary solution is to remove some large video files from the zip.

Open the zip with your file manager and go to /system/media/video. There you will find six mp4 files there that are a total of 10MB. Delete them. That will make the zip small enough to fit.

I found that in WinRAR if you only delete those, it still doesn't quite fix the problem so you also must delete other media... I deleted ringtones to complete the task with this latest build from last night that was 115MB instead of the 114MB.

hey there everyone..
first off it is awesome this thread was created for help with the Nightlies..
I have been set on CM7 nightly 151 for quite some time and have always been happy with it but have been itching to get ICS on my Nook since i already have it on my HD2..
I have read thru the entire 51 pages of the thread and overall am just curious if it would be best to start on today's latest nightly or if anyone has been using an older nightly that seems pretty solid?
I'm not one that uses it in place of my Desktop or Laptop but i use it a good hour or so a day in the evening checking out all the sports sights and what not..
As far as i have read upgrading to the CM9 ICS would just be the following steps:
1. make backup of current of course..
2. wipe cache/ dalvic cache
3. install OS
4. install combo zip ( gapps,telephony, fix-boot )
5. reboot and enjoy

I appreciate any help because I'm not really a noob in general because of modding phones from the site for a few years but am green when it comes to the Nook because I just went right to the CM7 Nightly i read was working great and just stayed there..

sorry forgot to add im using it on emmc not running it from the sd card...

Looks right. But the "combo zip" is just named gapps to help SD users with installation. It does not really have gapps in them, just the wifi SOD, bootanimation and telephony fixes. Download a real one from Sam's server and install it too if you want gapps.

I would just pick the most recent nightly.

would i need to load Sams gapps before the what i called the combo zip or does it matter?
what all is in the gapps? is this basically the Google apps like Gmail and Market or does it have more stuff than that?

If you're coming from CM7, you're going to want a full wipe, not just cache and dalvic.

It does not matter which you do first other than do the nightly first. Gapps has gmail, market, talk, etc.

This version of ICS is really nice, but has anyone seem a problem with the screen not being very responsive? I know it is not the Nook, as if I boot MIUI the screen response is great. I want to run ICS but the lack of responsive makes it frustrating.

That is the one thing that is holding me back from making it my daily driver. I have it installed on SD so I can play with it but I use CM7 for daily use. I think it will get better with more development.

Have you tried using the V6 script? I did and noticed an improvement.

i read in CM7 that people were using the V6 SuperCharger Script but nobody would say what settings they were using..
what all are you running from the V6?
I used the option the script recommended. Its been a while but I think it was the biggest 512hp setting. In the past I've also used the most aggressive one as well (option 9 I think)

I just went from cm7 to cm9 today and have no complaints so far.the screen sensitivity seems good. I haven't tried any games yet but I did start nova2 by accident and it seemed really choppy. Otherwise loving ifs though

how to build kernel from source ?

Hi all ,

I am new to this topic. I had built the rom success , and I try to update wifi driver from MCP to NLCP. Hope to provide wifi direct functionality to nook color. But I need to build kernel first ? Could anyone provide any instruction or link ? I know the pre-built kernel image is compiled by fattire as following log.

<6>Initializing cgroup subsys cpu
<5>Linux version 2.6.32.9 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.4.1 (Sourcery G++ Lite 2010q1-202) ) #101 PREEMPT Thu Jan 12 18:15:17 PST 2012
<4>CPU: ARMv7 Processor [413fc082] revision 2 (ARMv7), cr=10c53c7f
<4>CPU: VIPT nonaliasing data cache, VIPT nonaliasing instruction cache

Thanks for your explanation of Dalvik cache above.

This explains why when I switch between CM9 and CM7 (both running off the SDcard) it takes a while for CM7 to boot. I always thought there was something like that going on but could not prove it.

Since I am playing with the CM9 nightlies, I'd have to update the .prop file every night so for now....I'll put up with the slow boot.

Great tip!

I luv playing with CM9 but the screen sensitivity drives me crazy. One moment it works great....the next.....it doesn't work at all. I'm sure it will be fixed someday but until then....CM7 Mirage is the way to go for me.

I have installed SlideIt trial and have been giving it a whirl. It does fit the screen but since I am still in the adjustment period I will reserve my opinion.
:( I prefer Swype. Waiting for the ICS version.

I ran NSR (Nook Screen Recalibrator available in the Market, free) and while it may be my imagination, it feels like my screen is more responsive.

I just updated to latest nightly and restored all apps and data from titanium backup. Now both the home soft key nor the n button work. I can't get a lock screen either.should I have not restored the data? Does anyone know what I should do? Thanks in advance.
