Alright so I went through these instructions and also a video tutorial to make sure I wasn't losing my mind... I flash the scatter r1 via SPFT and all is well- it downloads it as expected and then says it succeeded. The problem comes when I go to reboot into TWRP- it doesn't do that. I hold volume up and power and then select recovery and I get the stock Android recovery every time instead of TWRP. No idea why.

Any ideas? Much appreciated!

EDIT: I'm on the 6.0 stock firmware and have done nothing else to the phone- just opened it today.

No ideal what you are talking about, that has nothing to due with this thread.

You need to unlock bootloader and have TWRP installed before you can use roms in this thread.

For adaway I needed to have working "toolbox". The v17 patched "toolbox" no longer does a r/w mount of system. So I restored the v12 version and it worked. But @vampirefo has pointed out is would be better to just add "busybox" to replace the "toolbox". He was able to just build busybox and put it into /system/xbin. But I did an install o busybox from play store then did the install of symlinks from within the app and it works.
Still. Not. Working. I've reinstalled BusyBox, reflashed SuperSU.zip and nothing! Still working for some apps but not most!!

tried flashing modified 7.4.2 and ending up with error 7, any help please, i have twrp install
I had two causes for this. One was the assert check in the install.zip looking for device with one name and recovery called device different name. This can be changed or use this devs recovery and name is not a problem.
In other words this rom uses vampitefo's recovery and with modification can use lopestom's.

Other rproblem I had that caused this error was system mounted as read only. Cannot modify system if mounted read only.

Thanks, I got it solve by unmount system .... Already booted up and runs so far perfect, even better than Amazon rom

Hello! I recommend you install ROM. It is the most friendly battery. (I already tried the 6.6 and 7.4, the last-mentioned destroys the battery)

If I install version 6.5 that is on this subject, I removed the TWRP recovery?

I realize this information is late, but anyway still may be useful.

I was looking at differences between the v17 and new v8.3. I found an app on v17 /system/app "fire.apk" . It is "com.data.acqusition"

And searching online I got very little. What little info I found was linking it to the adapus.fota spyware issue.
I removed it and see no issue yet.

This fire.apk was not in v12 and is not in the new 8.3

It leaves me concerned that Blu may be trying to hide the spying problem instead of fixing it.

They load their phones with this stuff, we can remove with root, but take the new R1HD Plus for example, antivirus apps, detected Trojans/Spyware on it but without root they can't be fully removed.

recovery stock v12 or v17

I read all the thread, previously I used the ColtonDRG guide for my sister's R1HD. I bought a prime for my, had version v7.4.2 stock.

I want to convert it to original non-prime

I did step by step, I unlocked the bootloader, I installed TWRP recovery, I installed normal-stock-oob.zip (I can also stock_V17_OEM_rom.zip). And everything perfect here.

My doubts or questions:

-Is it possible to install the original recovery stock, (v12 or v17) and lock the bootloader?

-What do I want to achieve with this? - Make it original non-prime and able to update OTAs :)

If you do any OTA, you will be locked out of using splashtool, an OTA isn't worth having splashtool disabled.

I know most of you already moved on to new devices, but I had not received alerts for quotes and mentions until now... XDA app is really messed up. Anyway, ever since my Nexus 5 went kaput I have been using a Moto G5 Plus 4GB 64GB (Walmart clearance $154) as my daily driver. A couple of days ago I managed to score a brand new LG G6 on clearance at Walmart for just $139. My best deal on a smartphone so far. Just upgraded to Oreo last night. Nice phone for what I paid for sure.

About the R1 HD... After all that mess regarding Spyware etc I reached out to Amazon and demanded a full refund for the $60 I had paid for the phone. They gave me my money back and told me to keep the phone. Haven't used it in a long time though. Sitting in a drawer in the house...

So far that is most sensible suggestion, return R1-HD to Amazon... i think in some cases it gets questionable "malware" that is in the ROM, i.e. even reset does not clear it.

Has anyone made any attempts with what is suggested here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74811964&postcount=1891

removing the battery or modding the phone so as to allow unlocking bootloader? Regardless of the "desirability" of the phone, that sounds like a useful ability - unlock a bootloader :)
