I'm having a problem with the latest image (v4). The sliders aren't showing up, or rather they seem to be shifted to the left outside the screen (I only see half of the slider bar, but not the slider button itself), so I can't take backups or flash anything. Also, in the Backup menu, the items under the "Partitions" heading are positioned too high up, overlapping the heading. (Otherwise the skin/theme looks as expected.)

The lock screen unlocker icon is also positioned wrongly - at the far left of the screen, so much that I can't unlock the screen.

Anyhow, the slider thing is the really deal-breaking stuff since I can't flash or take backups. Anyone else experiencing this? Any tips on what might be wrong?

Thank u for reporting this issue. But i don't know, how can i fix this. I'm using themes, everything is good. I suggest you, use a theme and enjoy TWRP :D

@LeonidasTurk Thanks to you I am finally getting a handle on the kernel/recovery drama that is a Sony phone. Difference between kernel/recovery and how to install them. Also notes on updater script are very useful.

For anyone else a little new to the Sony setup here is what I have worked out:
Non stock ROMs (CM12.1 etc) need the boot.img from the Zip which is kernel and recovery combined (cm recovery = rubbish). Trying to fastboot flash a recovery into boot doesn't work with Sony phones (thanks OP). You may be able to boot into recovery but you won't get past that. I have used it to get to a proper (non cm) recovery and flash a stock based ROM back from CM. This has worked depending on the recovery.

Using the fastboot flash recovery method or the dd method will get a TWRP recovery working with CM. This is only for the recoveries found in this thread. I have a different 2.8.7 img but it is much larger than the one here and fails in fastboot as being too big.

NDRUtils only seems to work with stock based ROMs as OP states here somewhere.

Just a collection of thoughts, partly as note to self but may be of use to someone.

hey guys! I just follow the installation steps but I can't touch it. It just does not respond. It's probably a touch recovery like regular twrps, but I'm not able to access any menus nor unlock the screen after pressing the power button. I'm on a BlissPop 5.1.1 in a Xperia SP (I just supposed that it'll probably work for me too). No size/positioning issues just the touch input doesn't seem to work.

This recovery is for z3. Don't try this with other phones. It will probably boot, but you can see a lot of bugs.

Thanks for the answer dude.

If I follow the same method with another recovery version it'll work?? Or this one was specifically made for working in FOTA? Can I do the same process with another one and overwrites it?

EDIT: I searched a little better and I end up finding a proper version for my device. I did the replacing process successfully but I still had the same issue, screen input not working. Any thoughts?

You can complie twrp from source codes. You can find guides in this forum. Or you can port twrp from most similar xperia device.

I already found a version for the very same device that I have, but that's not the problem, I still have the same issue. I don't know what the problem is. It can work if I try some cwm or only twrp can be used like this?

But thanks for the answer anyway, thanks for your time and advice, I'll try to develop a lil in the future when I buy a new phone. I'd love to have this working, but right now I'm using apps to flash stuff.

.......The resize2fs may also be useful to resize system partitions on devices where custom ROM system images don’t take up the full partition space.......
Well, fantastic! Where can I find this command? I can't understand how to access this feature.
It would be great to resize system partition after installing Cyanogenmod!
.....I missed add f2fs support. If you want it please post to this thread......
Is this why I can't find it? There is no option yet ... Please make me understand.

One little issue: I'm running CM12.1 and rebooting to recovery doesn't work. It turns off and that's it.... is it a Cyanogenmod issue or it can be related to the recovery?

I tanked you already by the BigButton, but please allow me to say THANK YOU for all your hard work. My phone is going to properly work as I wish.

I don't know anything about resize2fs. And i'm sorry but i couldn't run f2fs in 2.8.7.0. It didn't booted with f2fs.

Thank you.
And what about the reboot in recovery issue? Do you have any idea why I can't do it?
To update my nightly, I have to tell to cmupdater to reboot in recovery to flash the just downloaded new OTA, then it turns off. I have to boot in recovery manually and then it flashes the update directly. So it does its job, but missing the self-reboot. I can't understand why ...

Probably, it is a cm bug. Before 3-4 months, i experienced a similar bug from cm.

I am using trwp recovery on a Xperia Z and on two Xperia Z3. All 3 phones are encrypted. On the Z the recovery ask for the password and then the internal sdcard can be read by the recovery.
On both Z3 the recovery asks for the pw, but will always reject it as wrong. The only action is to cancel that password question, but then the internal sdcard is NOT usable inside the recovery. Any ideas what to test to circumvent this error?

Thanks for your answer.
But what does the twrp recovery on a Xperia Z do different, because in the recovery of the Xperia Z the encryption PIN is accepted and then /data is decrypted. After this step /storage/sdcard0 has readable data (you can install files from i.e. the "Download" or "cmupdate" directory. On the Z3 the decrypt step fails, because it will always complain that the encryption PIN is not correct.
So it seems, that in general twrp could handle encryption quite well.
