Hello folks, Tried intalling custom rom after a long time gap....
I firstly unlocked bootloader and temporarily booted twrp...
Flashed twrp zip
Then wipe system data and cache
Then installed evolution rom latest build
While installing it showed step 1/2 then 2/2 and then it flashed successfully with an error "Failed to mount /vendor (Invalid Argument ).....booted the system.....
But struck on bootloop.....
Tried flashing 2 more times same was the outcome

I know it's been awhile but what happened? Did you have or install the last factory image first? What build did you use? Numerous builds just don't work - they just produce bootloops. Peruse thread concerning the build you used. Reinstall TWRP zip after flashing ROM zip and before booting, for convenience. Don't worry about TWRP reporting of not being able to mount partitions.

These Evolution builds have been problematic as of late. No criticism intended, just reporting the news.

I LOVE this ROM! I'm just waiting for it to get it's feet under itself again.

Initially I tried installing the ROM over Last official build and caused Mounting vendor issue...
Later Installed Lineage os and then installed Evolution X and this time installation was successful but causing bootloop

Mounting /vendor or /system will show as an error in TWRP for different versions of different ROMS at different times! It seems to be related to Scoped Storage and how the ROM devs handle it. It has never been an issue for me for installing ROMs. Some just fail to install because of there own reasons.

This version of EvoX installed and booted normally, but was ... something .... Locking up and freezing and rebooting spontaneously if my memory is any good, which it ain't. It was unusable so I went back to PD. The new BlissQ has problems, too. PD has been the only reliable ROM I've found, though LOS always worked as I remember. I prefer PD.

PD isn't bad but it lacks several of the features I've come to use and love, which Evo X spoils us with. I'd rather take the occasional screen input freezes over the latest PD. Also, battery life under Evo has been significantly better than under PD. That one I can't really explain.

I tried installing it when coming from the December stock builds as another person suggested but nothing. I still get the constant freezing and rebooting. Device is snappy and responsive throughout 75% of setup but once the first reset happens it's super sluggish.

One more thing to note... I flashed the latest Evo X to test, and once I started rebooting like mad, I dirty flashed the previous built, and now when I turn on my device I get a pitch black Google screen and Evo boot animation instead of the usual blinding white ones. Cool!

And our dear sailfish is slowly dying...

Thanks to Gabriel for keeping it alive a bit longer

edit: ok, I was a bit dramatic and also didn't see the two new ROMs that popped up in the main forum, but it's still always heartbreaking to see a wonderful ROM drop one's aging device. Still, mad thanks to Gabriel for the best Q ROM for sailfish
