Im having problems when transferring files between tablet and linux laptop (mtp).
Trying to copy movie from laptop, transfer hangs at the beginning eg. 120kb and after 1min. it fails. Tried few linux distros, the same result. Other phones and tablets work fine.

Assuming via USB tether as you didn't specify. Never had this problem on Nexus v4.0.5 (native install; not using Safestrap) and moved a number of multi-GB files. Might try a different USB cable and avoid any hubs or USB3 ports. I realize this seems elementary (especially since other devices work OK) but it's amazing how many times a different cable or port fixes this type of problem.

FWIW - there is a newer Nexus build (look in original development thread) by the same dev that can be dirty flashed over v4.0.5. Might prove a quick fixed and you'll be back on a supported version of Nexus.

I specified mtp which means usb.
Might try a different USB cable
Tried three of them.
and avoid ... USB3 ports.
what's wrong with usb3?

I dont think I can dirty flash as I use safestrap.

Sorry, missed the MTP part. Also correct on dirty flash w/Safestrap. Might have to upgrade FireOS as well; see prerequisites. Some USB3 ports/drivers don't communicate well with USB2. Not a oddball situation. A little Googling will surface many weird cases. Suggestion was just that. If you are confident with the USB3/USB2/HDX interface go with it. FWIW USB3 on my primary host works fine with 3rd gen Thors.

Rebooted both devices tried another cable finally it worked. Looks like permission issue because copying tablet>laptop works just fine. Anyway dirty flashed new build, got 'process xxxx stopped working' pop up so clean flashed (see other thread).

This ROM has been discontinued. See below for successor. GAaps and SuperSU are built-in which should (indirectly) resolve your issue. Seamless cutover if flashing via twrp (unlocked bootloader). Might have a few preparatory "to-dos" if using Safestrap.

I keep getting Google Play Store has stopped errors right from the beginning. I have no idea what to do. As GPS is toasted, I cannot install anything.

Assume you installed this rom as an alternative to Fire Nexus HDX due to 4.5.2 (vs 4.5.5.1) FireOS base prior to installing Safestrap v4. Thoughts:
- must be a 'clean' flash (wipe system/data/dalvik/cache)
- be sure to use the older GAaps package linked in the OP which will auto update to the current version over the course of several days
- if problem persists you make have to flash a Safestrap compatible version of FireOS to the stock slot prior to flashing this ROM
- as with all Safestrap actions be sure to protect yourself by ALWAYS keeping a known good/bootable rom zip in a safe location on device (suggest the root of sdcard directory) and NEVER perform a 'factory reset' from outside the Safestrap environment

Thank you. This was my scenario as well. Clean flash. I did all you suggested. Same result.

I am sorry. Nothing seems to work fine on my tablet.

Hello I just installed this rom via safestrap 4.01 and the wifi is not working. Any one else have the same problem?
Besides that, great work dude!
...because you ignored well published guidance and created/installed Nexus in a secondary Safestrap slot. Delete the slot and flash Nexus (and all other Safestrap compatible HDX roms) to the STOCK slot.

Might have noticed the '[DISCONTINUED]’ tag in the thread title. Yeah, there is a newer version and this ain't it. Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire-hdx/orig-development/rom-fire-nexus-rom-ktu84q-t3322931

Hi there!
I just installed it and I´m wondering how long does the first boot take?
Anything over 5 min signals a problem. Did you perform a factory reset from the Safestrap/TWRP wipe menu prior to flashing? Also, why are you flashing this ROM which is clearly marked "DISCONTINUED" in the thread title? There are better options that are Safestrap compatible and an even wider choice of ROMs if you unlocked the bootloader.

Thanks.
