It's sad that there is nearly no developing interest in the Fire HD 10 7th Gen. Other devices like the Fire HD 8 8th Gen already got a Android 10 based port.
Check the GitHub repositories, just because there are no releases, does not mean that there is no work being done.

Plus, the dev is working on other devices as well, and they also have real life, so they don't always have the time or the energy.

Hi guys
I installed this ROM and everything is working fine so far, except I can't log in with xda app to the forum. It says wrong username or password. I can log in without any problem from the web browser! Coming from ROM version 14.1 I didn't have any problem! Can someone confirm this problem and how to fix it?
Thanks in advance

Known XDA Labs issue; not ROM centric. See multiple posts in this thread:

I'm having trouble with Amazon Video and Netflix in HD (both apps play fine but in SD only). If you got these working, what were your props settings (Hardware and OS versions)...did you enable device simulation - if so, what features? Lastly, what versions of the apps are you using?

Given I use this tablet for media playback only - and I was able to achieve HD playback with FireOS, I'm debating going back to the stock fire. What are the steps to leave TWRP installed and run the Amazon Fire OS rooted?

Have you tried this?

Front facing camera works!!!

Hii all!
I have been put off to use Google Meet, Zoom and other similar apps because of the issue with the front facing camera "not working" on this ROM.
Well, since my wife and child don't know much about the ROM limitations they went ahead and installed Google Meet on the tablet, and voila!
Front camera works just fine.
Tried with Google Meet, works just fine. Installed the "Open Camera" app from the play store, works just fine too with the front camera.
So if you were waiting for a way to do teleconferencing with this ROM, wait no more, just try.

Does Netflix play 1080p on the resolution test stream in stock FireOS? What is the max playback resolution in the app settings? It doesn't for me and a few other people in stock 5.6.6.0 and older versions. Sounds weird but unlocking the bootloader will enable full HD for both Nflx and PV in stock ROM though. Disable the stock launcher and unneeded Amzn apps makes the rom as good as LOS to me.

If you insist you LOS, there's an old patched Nflx apk and Kodi plugin for Prime Video to stream 1080p. The Kodi plugin was unusably slow when I tried it a few months back.

Has anyone managed to get Amazon Prime Video to play in HD? Regardless of what I set in magisk props I can't get it to stream at higher than 0.46 GB/h, which is clearly still SD.
Yeah, Kodi plugin will play full HD (not just HD) but too slow so I switched back to unlocked stock rom.

I'm very tempted to do this too. Not being able to play amazon content at full HD on an amazon tablet is... suboptimal. Thanks for the kodi info though. I'll give that a spin and see how painful it is.

I'm using a modded Netflix that I think I got from https://github.com/jonas-coded/netflix_hd_patch (it's 4.16.3 I've got). If that isn't it try hunting around xda for a modded version of app: I definitely got it via xda). I've got the props set to Pixel, but not sure if that's required. Prime Video I've not managed to get working in HD (but see other recent replies).

Truth be told I don't think these tablets are worth this much effort just to watch netflix on. They're a good hobby device I'd you're bored and want to learn android development.... Other than that if you plan on using them as a DD the probably just leave them stock.

It depends on the usage! I use this ROM as my daily driver.I use it mainly for Youtube, Social media and Pdf reading!
I don't use it as streaming device ( except Youtube) and to be honest I'm quiet happy with it!
What I didn't like about the stock OS is the amount of bloat that amazon has put in it is unbelievable!

In 12.1 the front facing camera works, so you can use the tablet for Skype or Zoom

Had Google Play loaded on my HD 10 with FireOS. It started constantly crashing after the last update, so I'd thought I'd give LineageOS a try instead. Thank you for the time and effort to put the Fire HD 10 distribution together.

I did have one question though - does tablet encryption work on either the 12.1 or 14.1 zips? I've tried to encrypt the tablet multiple times and it does not seem to work. I scanned this thread for information and did not see anything. Also searched XDA forum in general and found a suggestion to decrease the size of the data filesystem in TWRP (leaving space for encryption data), which I tried - but it not make a difference. Is there something else I'm missing?

Update: after further research, I did find a way that the Lineage 12.1 (filesystem-based) encryption would work. Using this article - android.stackexchange.com/questions/117405/how-do-you-encrypt-your-device-running-cyanogenmod-12-1 it showed how to start encryption using an ADB shell. However, Andriod would hang when booting. After setting up debug to find out what was happening during boot, the log showed a timeout error during the encryption set up process. I looked at how the Android encryption process works here: source.android.com/security/encryption/full-disk#starting_an_encrypted_device_without_default_encryption and saw that step 6 was not completing since the ROM was not setting the vold.post_fs_data_done property to 1. I updated the init.mt8173.rc file in the ROM to set this property. Once that was done and the patched ROM loaded on the HD10 then encrypted worked as expected.

Here is the change to the init.mt8173.rc file:

Code:
on post-fs-data
.
.
.
#Thermal
    mkdir /data/.tp/ 0775 system system
    [B]setprop vold.post_fs_data_done 1[/B]

# End of adding by MTK drivers
# -----------------------

The process I used to set up encryption was

1. Load all the zip files using TWRP
2. Boot up Lineage OS
3. Enable root in the Android developer options
4. Run ADB root (from Linux)
5. Start ADB shell
6. Run the command:
Code:
vdc cryptfs enablecrypto wipe password
where the password characters are their hex values e.g. foo = 666f6f

Note that TWRP generates errors when the data partition is encrypted, so loading an updated ROM after the tablet is encrypted will likely require that that it be wiped first.

LineageOS needs no introductions. This version of LineageOS-12.1 is a highly customised version solely for the Amazon Fire HD10

    - EVEN MORE IMPORTANT: This ROM only works on devices using the bootloader hack. See <<< HERE >>> to unlock your devices.

    - IMPORTANT: Do not update Magisk via the Magisk Manager App, your device will enter a bootloop if you do. Instead update Magisk via TWRP only. If you do this by accident then it is recoverable by just flashing the latest version of the ROM again (with gapps etc as required).

    Known Issues
    - Wired headphones do not work
    - Camcorder does not work

    Prerequisites for Installation
    - Unlocked Bootloader

    - And Enjoy :D

    Upgrading to a new version
    - Copy the ROM to your device
    - Flash ROM

    lineage-14.1

I have been working on lineage-14.1 and have it booting. Needs a bit of knocking into shape. Will release once it's ready for testing.

    Maybe I found a tiny bug :)
When I open up the case, it activates screen. It is normal.
However, the screen does not turn off when the case is closed.
Even I used a 3rd party case, it was functioning well with stock Fire OS.

Anyway, I really appreciate ggow's hard work!

I have fixed this, the device will be put to sleep correctly when the lid is closed. Will be in the next release.
