I was able to install the latest version with TWRP 3.0.2. I followed the steps outlined in this post:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82459153&postcount=213 (see the end of the post and carefully change the LOS image zip file as stated.) I edited the ZIP file directly within 7Zip. At first I expanded the archive and edited the file and then I compressed it again but this did not work. After I edited the file inside 7Zip it worked. I did not investigate what the problem was.

I have a SGP612 (WIFI version with 32 GB) and it works very well with LOS 15.1.
The image for the LTE version is indicated on the first post of this thread. I guess it will work.

Thx for your reply :highfive:
If I understand you, than TWRP 3.0.2 is able to install the LOS 15.1 with the small tweak about the script inside the LOS-Zip? Do I have to root my device to do this, or will it work with an unlocked bootloader?
I've downloaded the LOS image from the first post as suggested, thx for your tip. LOS 15.1 is based on Android 8, right? Hope its stable...

I will wait for an answer regarding to rooting, hope it just works without rooting.

thx

Yes you are right, you can install LOS 15.1 with TWRP 3.0.2. As you mentioned you need to modify the LOS-Zip. Here again a link with detailed descriptions what to do: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522762

I was not able to install TWRP without a locked bootloader. I think too that you cannot install LOS without unlocked bootloader. But you will find tutorials in this forum about who to unlock bootloader and save before the TA partition. Otherwise you will loos the DRM keys. Later, if you want to relock the bootloader you can restore the saved TA partition.

And yes, LOS 15.1 is Android 8.1. LOS 15.1 works very well with SGP611/612. Battery consumption is very good. I have appr. only 0.4%/h of battery usage. I can recommend the image.

I've tweaked the LOS zip and succeeded with the installation. Also installed the gapps as noted in the OP. Fired the device and baam it works out of the box without rooting :highfive:
I've made a backup of the TA partition, but this happend just yet. I've alread unlocked the bootloader about a week ago, so if i get you right, the DRM keys are lost, right?

About the LOS 15.1 image, I've installed the 2018 which is attached to the OP. Do you have used the "lineage-15.1-20181124-UNOFFICIAL-z3tc" or the "lineage-15.1-20190922-UNOFFICIAL-z3tc" from this thread?

Do you have some tools installed which deactivates the WLAN or other unnecessary services on an inactivity base?

I am glad that you could successfuly flash it, congratulations! :highfive:
I have to correct my previous comment about battery drain. I have 0.4%/h usage if the tablet is in airplane mode and wifi switched off. I also have not synched email accounts, only ondrive/onenote. I think I did for one night a test with wifi switched on and it was still on a very good level. Therefore I don't need tools to deactivate the wifi. It's not my daily driver and if I use it I can manually switch it on.

As you said, yes the DRM keys are lost. The TA partition had to be saved before the bootloader is unlocked.

How many people use this ROM as a 'daily' driver (I say 'daily', as this won't be used as a phone I presume)? I mainly use this tablet for media watching through Kodi/Netflix, but would like to have H265/HEVC support. Is that supported in this ROM? Thanks!

Hi

I recently started using this LineageOS15.1 ROM for my SGP611.
Everything seems to work fine except for the Wifi 5Ghz which drops regularly and incompatibility with Firefox.
I also use this tablet mostly for multimedia and reading the paper, its still so smooth!

I would love to have LOS 17.1 on it though, is anyone still working on this?
I can definitly help out if needed or at least help test it out.

One question on the latest ROM:
is it normal my SGP611 keeps the screen blacklight on (blank screen) when charging and powered off?
Only when the tablet is running the charging LED is ON and the screen backlight goes off.

@Gtaris That's good to hear, thank you! Do you have the change to try some H265 content using MX Player perhaps? Would help me a bunch, thanks!

For me it doesn't work with h.265 full HD 1080p but it can handle h.265 HD 720p without issues (multiple players tested).
I think the only real limitation of our tablet is the lack of 64-bit (ARM).

@Rubenos about charging when the tablet is off, does your blacklight also remains ON?

Hey guys! I'm now trying to get this LOS15.1 installed on my device. I had a really old 4.4.4 ROM installed with TWRP 2.7.X - so after hours I finally got the latest 'supported' TWRP installed: 3.0.2. - now I'm reading a lot of people having issues getting this installed (device not recognized), I had the same. So I modified the IMG to exclude the first few lines checking for correct device, and now flashing it does nothing - instant black screen and reboot into TWRP.

Now I did see some people sending eachother DM's about getting TWRP 3.3.X installed on the ZT3C... maybe that could help me?

Right now, I'm completely stuck. It's literally been about 5 years since I last looked into flashing android devices, and I've already spent about 12 hours reading up, downloading all the right files etc. -- I have a lot ready, but can't get through this hurdle alone.

Thanks in advance!

(621 with unlocked bootloader btw)

20181202 works on scorpion_windy SGP612 except GPS

Hello, I installed TWRP_scorpion_windy_3.2.1.3_3.4_201801.img and lineage-15.1-20181202-UNOFFICIAL-z3tcw.zip on my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet scorpion_windy SGP612 z3tc (without GApps for the moment).

Code:
unzip -d $TMP lineage-15.1-20181202-UNOFFICIAL-z3tcw.zip boot.img
fastboot flash boot $TMP/boot.img
fastboot -S 256M flash FOTAKernel TWRP_scorpion_windy_3.2.1.3_3.4_201801.img
fastboot reboot
adb reboot recovery
adb sideload lineage-15.1-20181202-UNOFFICIAL-z3tcw.zip
# boot the SGP612 to install FDroid
adb install FDroid.apk

2.4 GHz WiFi is working (including channel 13). On 5 GHz, I can see one of neighbors' accesses points on channels 40 and 60.

Both cameras are working with Open Camera.

The GPS does not appears to be working as GPSTest is not show any satellites at all. Is there anything that I can check to understand why the GPS is not working?

Signature Spoofing Checker says "disabled" which seems to indicate that I will not be able to use microg. Can you add signature spoofing as LineageOS for microG does so that I can use some Google Play apps without having to install OpenGApps?

The ROM provides root so I did not need Magisk.

Thanks for this ROM. I hope that it can become official (it which case it would get an microg enabled build automatically).

---------- Post added at 09:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:02 PM ----------

I reinstalled the LineageOS ROM with open_gapps-arm-8.1-nano-20181209.zip and now the GPS can see American and Russian satellites. It does not see any of the Chinese satellites that my more recent phone can see.

Hi,

anyone got TWRP_scorpion_3.3.0-0_201905 or TWRP_scorpion_windy_3.2.1.3_3.4_201801, because i only have 3.0.2.0 and with this version i cannot install lineageos because of errors. With SGP621_23.4.A.0.546_Customized CE1-prerooted-dualrecovery_signed i only have android 5 and cannot update to 6 because the function with button down + put usb on dont work... so only option for me is one of the 2 version of twrp to get lineageos working with the tablet....

SGP611 here - installed with TWRP 3.0.2 and the edited update-script.
Not sure if it will help you SGP 621 owners.
Process for me was flash boot.img (extracted from the LOS zip), then flash twrp, then boot into twrp. I sideloaded the repacked LOS zip file because I was too lazy to copy to SD. Pico GApps & magisk too.

Question about the latest 15.1 rom: with installed gapps (opengapps 8.1) after updates the system reboots after I open a browser. Google stops working right at boot. Any ideas what´s up there?

Device: SGP611 with twrp
Image: lineage-15.1-20190922-UNOFFICIAL-z3tcw.zip (with modded install script)
Root: UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.82-20170528234214.zip
Gapps: open_gapps-arm-8.1-micro-20210522.zip

Hi,
I've succeeded in installing this LineageOS 15.1 on my SGP611 also thanks to the quoted message. Nevertheless, it contains some inaccuracies reported in its "Issue 2" I wish to fix with this reply. I started from a full stock configuration, therefore I am going to post the whole procedure in the following. Skip "Step 1" if you already have an unlocked device.

Step 1: Unlock Bootloader
It comprises of 2 main components, which are comprehensively detailed in this website. More specifically:
  1. Obtain your unlock code here. Just select your device at the end of the page and follow the instructions.
  2. Unlock the bootloader following the instructions in here. It goes through installation of ADB/Fastboot and USB driver, things that are also reported somewhere else in the forum.
I want to report a problem I had at #2 of the former list, it might be helpful for some user. Once my device was in fastboot mode, the command fastboot devices gave no output. This should be related to the USB drivers. I solved by following this. This is NOT MANDATORY, try only if you experience my same problem.

Reboot your device and load the files required for the following steps.

Step 2: Install TWRP
  1. Download the latest TWRP for scorpion_windy, which is 3.0.2-0 from here. Contrarily to what reported in the quoted message, this is going to work. See "Step 3".
  2. Flash the TWRP in the boot partition, as reported in the quoted message:
    Code:
    fastboot flash boot twrp-3.0.2-0-scorpion_windy.img

Step 3: Edit LineageOS zip file
Trying to flash the lineage15.1-20190922-unofficial-z3tc.zip indeed outputs ERROR 7 in TWRP, failing the installation. I solved this issue following what reported here. There you find an explanation of the problem as well.
This solves the issue reported in the quoted message, which was solved mentioning the use of TWRP 3.3.0-0 which actually does not exist for this device.

Step 3: Final installation process
  1. Reboot to recovery mode:
    Code:
    fastboot reboot recovery
  2. Flash the edited .zip file of LineageOS
  3. Flash GApps and SuperSU as reported in the quoted message

Step 4: Fix Recovery partition
After OS installation, you will not be able to reach the recovery again, as it was installed in the boot partition. Hence, reboot in fastboot mode, connect to the computer and run:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-scorpion_windy.img

Step 5: Enjoy!

I hope this message will be helpful. Thanks to all the contributors.
this worked for me, thanks

    Bugs:

    You tell... :p

If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", enable develper settings and enable it.

It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.

How to flash for the first time:
(Again: Don't do it if you don't know it!)

    1. Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
    2. Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
    3. Wipe the System, Cache, Data and ART/Dalvik cache.
    4. Flash the ROM Zipfile.
    5. Flash the GApps (optional, needed for e.g. Google Playstore to work).
    6. Reboot and set up your device.

my new job "eats" my free time, but should be better in a few weeks, then the migration to los16.0 is planed

    Hello.
Tell me how to upgrade from Lineage OS 15.1 version 20181223 to Lineage OS 15.1 version 20190106 without losing user data and losing system settings?
just install without make a total wipe, format only cache and dalvik, should work
