You cannot use magisk. The rooted rom in post 2 is about your only option for root. Safestrap says disabled because rom slots don’t work on newer devices so safestrap just works as a recovery only not a dual boot system

Just realized I was talking on the wrong thread the whole time...

Finally got everything installed, it booted to Nougat but to make sure it was persistent, I rebooted my phone; it immediately crashed to "[Upload Mode] Unknown Error"

But, I just kept rebooting it and turning it off and it eventually goes back into Android. Tested even further and it's about a 1 in 20 chance of a successful bootup.

The only remaining problem is that it can not turn Wi-Fi on, at all. The toggle will freeze at connecting for 5 minutes then turn itself off. No sim in this device so mobile is out.
Launch delay on apps is about 20 seconds, and apps requiring root crash or stall (like they can't get root, flashfire was one of them).

There is a specific version I believe for us s8s. Look into the rootless driver install through safe strap

This is last nougat rom made for S8 it is prerooted with flashfire and safestrap preinstalled. It has CSC stuff for all carriers added. Its debloated slightly with knox removed. Some stuff may not work but im not sure as I cannot test but this stuff may include fingerprint and or face recognition. If stuff doesnt work it probably related to using pie modems and non-hlos on a nougat rom which you have no choice.​

@jrkruse Congratulations very good job! But there are 2 problems I noticed so far (I use the phone 2 days). Bixby is constanly crashing and language of the settings at most sectors remain in english(some changed to the language I've chosen).
