I am on og5 with a rooted firmware. When you said "flash Rooting_Tools_For_S5_Lollipop.zip" where do i flash? I dont have safestrap.

I think the answer is in post 3-6.. basically have to go through the steps with FF or SafeStrap.

Im on OG5 bootloader. I used the NI2 kernel flasher app to get into safestrap and when im done using safestrap i flash my OG5 compatible kernel. I have to do that everytime to get in SS

Believe it or not but back in the days a trojan with the same name used to collect sensitive info from android users:

After reading alittle bit further I realized it was TowelRoot's mechanism that triggered Kaspersky, so no real trojan. Whoever has an antivirus, needs to disable it for the extracting and copying files stage. (and no one mentioned it here....)

You could install it without flashing the new firmware. Your modem and the stagefright patch would not be upgraded though. So why not upgrade it all?

The OG5 firmware is what you want to use.

Means flash the zip with either safe strap or flashfire. Then that installs all the tools you need. But I think you'd better read up a little more to know what flashing zips and roms are all about.

But I was confused because it says to get ss loaded to download and flash the zip. So I was thinking if the rom I'm on didn't have ff, which it does. And the author is assuming we don't have ss yet. And he is telling us that we don't have to use odin... hmm
Just didn't make since to me. Now I am dyslexic so mayby I'm reading it wrong.

It's ok bro. We all start somewhere in the droid world. You can flash that file with flashfire with no problem. SS and FF are kinda the same thing. One is just a little faster to use than the other, that being FF. Odin is for flashing .tar files, not zip files. It's also how we recover our Sammy phones in the event of a bootloop. You'll learn the ropes too. Just takes time, and lots of reading.

Hi. I have verizon s5 b0g5 5.0. tied to use this method to root my phone and on odin it failed. I rebooted and now the screen has software ugrade fail. tried to restore it through Kies but I do not have a recovery code. Tried to do a regular upgrade on Kies and for some reason, my Imei number is not being accetped. It keeps saying that it is wrong.

In a bad jam and it is late. Been trying to figure this out all day without bothering anyone. If you know of a method that I can do to get my phone back up, I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

You didn't read. Og5 shouldn't be rooted. I'm guessing you also didn't make the backup they suggested you make?
