LTE working

Hi,

i just installed this rom on my Thor LTE Unlocked BL with TWRP and (nearly) everything is fine:
LTE works (dialog with SIM-Pin takes about 2 minutes to pop up after boot, but that is ok).

just two things:

- registering with google account is not possible due to broken hosts-file. I commented the line with "127.57.144.26 android.clients.google.com" and everything works fine with google.

- Rotation is upside down. Apps, that rotate to landscape (plex, for example) rotate so that the camera is at the bottom side, not on the upper side. So sound is reversed, and speaker are looking down instead of up.

btw - this rom installs fine, not complaining about failed symlinks like the "HDX_Nexus_ROM_Thor-v4.0.3-B02.zip" does ...

good job!

ps: i was a bit irritated regarding the missing root app, but then i read your post#1 :)

Thanks for letting me know, is it possible for to you try SMS and a phone call?
@sn123py - For your apps that rotate upside down try locking the orientation the correct way up first then start your app and let me know if that works.

send SMS: working
receive SMS: working
outgoing call: not working (call ended immediate)
incoming call: not working (get a ring-tone on the other side, but HDX keeps quit).
btw - i never got phone calls working on my hdx.

fixed tablet in landscape (with camera on the top side), started plex and rotation was ok.

Not sure if calling can work or not on HDX hardware. Just thought I'd give it a try :)
SMS working is good.

Well, Apollo LTE works great, in both TWRP and SafeStrap (LTE works in ANY slot btw)...

Takes about a minute to initialize the baseband and get signal, fyi.

Only sad report is that calls don't work yeah, disconnection time the moment a number is dialed.

Another champion effort @ggow

Thanks :)

Do calls work on stock, has anyone ever had calling working at all?
I am wondering whether it's a limitation of the device?

I have twrp installed but the bootloader is locked
Should it work nevertheless, because my tablet stops at the kindle fire logo?

From the OP... yes you need to unlock your bootloader.

Introduction

- This ROM is for all variants of the 3rd generation Kindle HDX tablets.
- This is primarily for users of Safestrap 4.0.1, however
- This will also work on devices with an unlocked bootloader and TWRP installed.

nope. I tried just after rooting my kindle a year ago with a third party calling app. Same effect as in your current rom.

Just speculating here but it may be highly probable that the RIL libs do not support voice calling. I haven't got time at the moment to investigate. So I think for now at least this one will stay parked.

LTE works (dialog with SIM-Pin takes about 2 minutes to pop up after boot, but that is ok).

Update after two days with this Rom:

I had some strange messages that the sim-card was removed and reinserted and the dialog asked me to reboot the tablet to activate the changes (?!). I simply tapped the back-button several times (there were about 10 dialog-boxes stacked) and everything is still working including LTE.

just wanted to let you know.

Thanks for that, if it happens again could you get me a log and I'll look into it.

    New Build is Up

    - Dated 2015-11-24
    - Fixed a bug in yesterday's build with reversed x-axis in motion sensor
    - Noticed it playing NFS Most Wanted.
    4
    - The Safestrap series of ROM's all use the stock 4.5.2 kernel and stock ramdisk
    - There are differences in the way stock FireOS handles the hsic control of BT and WiFi
    - Because we can't modify the ramdisk on these ROM's I can't control the handling of BT and WiFi the way I should or want to
    - The Safestrap series of ROM's will probably always have this limitation on battery management as essentially it is a hack (an excellent one).
    - On a very positive note, because of Safestrap and the ROM's we can say bye bye to FireOS even on a locked bootloader
    - I did these ROM's for one reason, and that was to help out those with bootloaders that can't be unlocked.
    - Now potentially everyone can run a custom/hacked ROM.

Yes very good points. It's a miracle you managed to get safestrap and nexus rom working at all on the hdx so people should just be extremely happy with the results we have. I for one, am extremely happy with the hard work you have done and if all someone has to do to get the best out of this device is charge it a bit more often, then that is a Very small price to pay!
