Hi all

I'm a new user and I have been reading a lot.

Now, after installing adw launcher, I have bee trying to change icons on the dock.

I selected the icons I like, i moved the folder on nexus s through my mac but it doesn't work.

I push on the icon I want to change but it only shows images from the gallery. I know it is something silly but I can't figure out how to do

Please help

Yes, you can use it without any problems. It will be just another home replacement such as LauncherPro or ADW.

thank you for your reply....got some more info about that....
i found the file in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1050666
downloaded it..it's a.zip archive...
by the time i wanted to try it i only had my second device available (wife was messing with nexus s :p)
and since my desire is rooted and running oxugen's 2.3.3 GB rom i gave it a try..i instaled the .zip via CW recovery and then me phone got "soft"bricked (if i can use that term)
i delete cache/dalvin storage and finaly flashed the oxygen rom again...
so my point is that IF it was a home replacement wouldn't it have been a .apk file?

not want to offend you or anything..just want to know if i am missing something here..i can understand that this mod has nothing to do with pps here so i can always ask the MOD-er to see if stocked nexus is supported :)

I am sorry, I thought you were talking about the Touchwiz 4.0 Launcher apk that was floating around. Definitely don't flash any SGS2 ROMs on any other phones. If you look in the DEV section, you'll see that some people are working on porting TW 4.0.

[Q] Changing Splash Screen/Boot Animation Guide?

Okay, so I'm going to take a swing at this since I searched but wasn't able to find an answer that made sense to my newbie-head on this one.

I want to change the boot animation/splash image on my NS4G. I looked around and found apps that did it, but they don't support the Nexus line so that didn't get me anywhere.

So first I just wanted to make sure that I'm using the right words for the right things. Am I correct in saying that the static "Google" logo that comes up first is the splash image, and the multi-color "X" Nexus animation is the boot animation?

My second questions is, can anyone point me in the direction of a [GUIDE] for changing those on the NS4G? I searched and couldn't find any and I didn't really want to charge in there with some of the pieced together directions I saw on a few threads where people posted their created boot animations.

Thanks in advance for the help and tolerating my newbishness.

The splash image cannot be easily changed. But you can change the boot animation easily. Just put your desirable bootanimation.zip in system/media using root explorer and reboot.

Thanks sonny!

So I guess what I can do is just put a bunch of them on the sdcard storage portion then copy and paste them over when I want to use a particular one.

I appreciate it.

Is there a straight forward tutorial for theming.

I can yank apks off the phone with adb pulling them out, editing the pngs in drawable etc etc but still not sure how to push the the apk back. (permissions)

The other really confusing part is how to prep the themed apk into a flashable format.. Reading a lot of the tutorials I've seen always seem to be written for someone who already knows 1/2 of it and goes from "Step 1..." to Android shorthand in a matter of a few sentences.

Use the attached zip. Put your modified framework (if you have one) in system/framework and your modified apps in system/app and flash it in recovery.

Now more questions..

I'm at a lose here.. I'm editing my Wifi icons.. Why are some of the png's loaded with full transparency (when opened in Photoshop) like they should, why are others are not?

Here's a question for people with some Boot Animation expertise...

From what I understand the bootanimation.zip holds numerically ordered image files that are what generate the animation. If I wanted to adapt a boot animation for one device to another device, theoretically all I'd need to do is re-size the images for the original to meet the resolution of the target... is that correct?

If so I'm going to have to jump on that rather than bother people with the request I made for the a red/Droid-esque boot animation.

You can try using the bootanimation as it is. If it looks out of place, then resize the images.

apk manager...

Ive been playing with apk manager where i usually decompile and compile manually I thought this tool would be a big help and it is except for one thing...it duplicates drawable folders in the couple times I've used it. Have you any experience with this? Also is there a standalone version of the image editor you posted? Thanks in advance I really enjoy your work.

Sorry, there is no standalone version. You have to be online.

In apkmanager/other, replace the apktool with the one attached and try again.
