Seems like the Play Music issue may be resolved. Fingers are crossed. At this time the errors in the logcat have gone away (as described in the link in my prior post).
I am not sure how this will impacts battery life. Overall I think the prognosis is good because I realized now that Play Music was running primarily as a foreground app, prior to me turning off ad-blocking, which the app hardly ever is in my scenario.

I used the app for just a bit today and I can see that the background usage has gone up to more realistic level and the foreground usage is down. This in theory will equate to better battery and possibly smoother performance.

Just my 2 cents here, but at that point I'd honestly just use root and remove the app and find an alternative (if you used it frequently). Not sure cause I've never used Play Music myself. Like I said, just my 2 cents.

I actually find it embarrassing that my $800, 2015 Sony Android TV has a more current security update than my current generation OnePlus 6T.

I honestly don't mind if a device manufacturer takes a couple of months to get out the latest major software upgrade, but to allow security updates to fall more than 90 days behind is not acceptable, IMHO.
Did you receive update couple of days back too?

Never before i have seen a community like this and i went through Galaxy S boards and Sony boards which are full of negative people at their peak.
If community is the strongest point in OnePlus, i chose the wrong company.

Anyways, i have recently bought a 6t after years of going with an old S4. I have not encountered any major issue so far but i'd like to know if it's possible to have a torch widget on the homescreen on this OS version. Is it? Because i have not a found way yet to do it without third party apps.

@astrosp4c3 Yes, go to Settings > Buttons & Gestures > Quick Gestures. I have Draw "V" set to turn on / off flashlight. So when the screen is off, I just draw a V on the screen and the flashlight turns on. Draw it again and the flashlight turns off. No need for a widget on the home screen, really. If you already have your phone in your hand and you took it out of your pocket just to turn on the torch, just draw on the screen. Just as quick as turning it on and hitting the widget. Or if you're in another app you have to go back to the home screen to hit a widget. You could just drag the notification shade and hit the torch icon as easily that way.

I cant, Google Play Music app is the only client for Google Play Music. Im stuck.

Now for the bad news, it wasnt ad blocking that was causing battery drain. I listened in to music today. All of it was downloaded. Streaming via BT. The battery still drops at a pehnominal rate.

Something about this phone just does not like Google Play Music.

I guess I have to make a choise, S10 or stay with OP. I guess I will stay with OP due to the fact it can be rooted. Arghhh.... Will bring my tablet for music until Google or OnePlus can figure this out.

Guys i am confused. No matter of the cell phone brand, model and Android version - Android default player doesn't support AC3 audio. Why? We live in 21st century after all. This is so simple feature.

Android AC3 support

"Use mx player. Find proper codec from xda" - funny guys :). I know. My question was why Google doesn't add AC3 support. Maybe they have to pay some licenses or smth like that. It's very strange.

    Hey guys,

    Current setup 10.3.11
    Magisk 23 installed and working.
    TWRP 3.5.2_9-0-fajita

Just want to reconfirm if we can still update latest OOS (10.3.12) using the following method? :

    View attachment 5367839

    Thanks.

    ✌️

looks good, I have been using the below similar method since OOS 10 came out and just updated to 10.3.12 successfully using it too.

    1. Disable Automatic system updates in developer options
    2. Go to (Magisk Manager → Uninstall → Restore Images) *Do not reboot* This step is required before doing any of the following steps written below!
    3. Apply OTAs from (Settings → System → System Update → Install), *do not press* “Restart now” or “Reboot” button!
    4. To keep TWRP - Go to Magisk Manager download and install TWRP A/B Retention Script ZIP.
    5. Magisk Manager → Install → Install to Inactive Slot and install Magisk to the slot that the OTA just updated to.
    6. After installation is done, press the reboot button in Magisk Manager

Explore what's new on Android 10 here.

This OTA will have a staged rollout. The OTA will be received by a limited number of users today and will have a broader rollout in a few days after making sure there are no critical bugs. Using VPN to download this build might not work as the rollout Is not based on regions and is randomly pushed out to a limited number of devices.

With your help, we have been able to better optimize and improve several key areas. Thank you for your patience and as always, we look forward to getting your continued feedback via the Community app.

If you don't have the Community app installed on your device, feel free to download it HERE. You can check here for more information on the integrated Feedback tool. Make sure to let us know how you feel about the build here in the thread too, we look forward to reading your feedback.

Warning: Do not flash partial update OTAs (under 1 GB) on a modified/rooted device! If you want to use partial OTAs, you must first flash the full OxygenOS zip that it applies to, and then flash the partial OTA from stock recovery. Flashing partial OTAs from TWRP will either fail or soft brick your device. You can return to a usable state by flashing one of the above full zips in recovery.

    Installation Instructions

Download the necessary files from the section above and follow the steps below:

Note: Dirty flashing is fine if you are running an old OxygenOS version or a ROM based on OxygenOS. If you are, however, coming from a Custom ROM, you must clean flash.

Caution: Please remove your existing screen lock/pin/pattern/password and set it to swipe before starting the update process.

For Non-Rooted Users with a Locked Bootloader and Stock Recovery

    1. Download the full ROM zip from the downloads section above and place it in the root of your internal memory
    2. Reboot to Stock Recovery > Shutdown device > Press Volume Down + Power buttons together
    3. Select Language > Install menu > Install from internal > Select the full zip > Flash
    4. Reboot to System
Note: First boot may take some time, so please be patient and wait for it to boot.

[Dirty Flash] For Users with an Unlocked Bootloader and TWRP Recovery coming from Stable OxygenOS, OxygenOS Open Beta

    1. Download the full ROM zip and TWRP recovery from the downloads section above
    2. Transfer the full ROM zip and TWRP recovery to the root of your device's internal storage
    3. Reboot to TWRP recovery and take a nandroid backup of your existing ROM
    4. From the TWRP menu, Install > Select full ROM zip > Swipe to flash
    5. From the TWRP menu, Install > Select TWRP recovery zip > Swipe to flash
    6. Reboot to TWRP recovery
    7. Flash the latest stable Magisk in case you want to root
    8. Reboot to System
Note: First boot may take some time, so please be patient and wait for it to boot.

Warning: Dirty flashing (update) can be risky! Remember that if you face issues after dirty flashing, you will have to clean flash.

[Clean Flash] For Users with an Unlocked Bootloader and TWRP Recovery

    7. From the TWRP menu, Wipe > Swipe to wipe
    8. Flash the latest stable Magisk in case you want to root
    9. Reboot to System
Note: First boot may take some time, so please be patient and wait for it to boot.

    Never Settle.

    Hello XDA,

I would like to thank you all for your patience and for maintaining your cool keeping the thread under control. I had to close my 5/5T update threads at the time of Pie release delays and there was lot of drama. None the less the build should pass CTS soon and should be ok to roll out thereafter.

I had to close the official thread once and multiple clean-ups were required over the last few days. I am glad that there is no such escalation here and would like to once again appreciate the level of patience and understanding.

Having said all this, the update should be on its way in the coming days, so all we ask for is a little more patience.

    We are Almost there ...

Thank you for your patience and cooperation,
