Hello, I updated all yesterday and everything is working perfectly... writing this on my OP6T McLaren device...

Had absolutely no issues. Updated the Manager first, I was on 8.0.7, then updated Magisk 21.4 to 22...rebooted, boom!

Seems like it may be an unintentionally missed or mistake in the update process. Who knows, so many little things can go wrong sometimes...😔

Glad to see it's fixed!! 😊

Good to hear!

Can you please outline the steps you took to do this?

At the moment on my 6T I have updated the Magisk Manager 8.0.7 to App v22.0.

I now have an update message on my phone like this:

I have stopped right there!

So if you could describe eactly how you successfully updated the Manager/App and Magisk itself that would be great!

Thanks

jeeez! It's 06:28 here, just spent 4 and a half hours of my precious sleep time fixing this clusterfuck Magisk 22 caused, especially since I do not have TWRP installed. My advice to all would be to steer clear of v22, although I got it working now, but this was really a ****ty update, with thousands affected...

Go to Magisk app, a do the following...see pics attached.

1- Hit - install
2- Hit - Direct Install (Recommended)

It will start the install process. Once completed, you will have a reboot button at the bottom right.
3- Hit - Reboot

You're all done! ✌️

PS. I have modules installed on mine.

Hey Joriq,

Sorry to hear about your issues....Glad to hear you go it running...

I have been searching to find others that have issues with v22...but I'm not seeing too many...can you point me to where I can read up on the others having issues please. Want to learn more of the issues “with thousands affected” you mention.

Tks

G'day Plepew.

Thanks so much!

Worked as it should.

Just in case someone else is stuck, this is what I did on a 6T with TWRP, rooted, and running10.3.8:

(Please take care; the usual Caveats apply; do this at your own risk; backup first etc..also first 'unhide' the Magisk Manager - via settings if you already have not done so!!)

Prerequisites -You start off with this:

https://ibb.co/gvPzDs7

1. Install the latest Magisk 22.0 when directed. The 'Manager' is what you do first...

2. As described in the documentation the Magisk 'Manager' now becomes the Magisk 'App'. The Framework now also has the same number/sequencing ie. 22.0/22.0.

3, You''ll then end up with this:

https://ibb.co/HXLCvLS

You need to now update the Magisk 'Framework - which is also now 22.0

4. Next, use the instructions kindly provided by Plepew above. Plepew's Post

5. Reboot when directed.

Finally thank-you once again to Topjohnwu for this great piece of software!

HTH.

I think it's also important to make sure that you don't have Magisk hidded before updating.

For example, I had it hidden due to my bank's app. I had to unhide it (from Magisk Manager's settings) and then I updated to v22.0.

My phone has just started without any problems, now I'm going to hide Magisk again and it will be ready to go.

Hi Pablo.x,

I have Magisk Hide enabled at all times and I have banking apps, Samsung Pay (watch plugin) & Google Pay on my device.

When updating Magisk, I have never disabled it. If I did, it would disable my Pay apps and I would have to start the setup all over again. Leaned that the hard way a few times till I figured it out. 😔

Overall, in my case, this has been my experience.

In my readings of Magisk issues though, the one thing that has been a constant, for some, the culprit are the added “Moded” Modules (some not all). This is what as led some to take forever to to troubleshoot as they didn't know which ones. If you know which ones, they should be uninstalled before updating. Too many people have reported their findings lead them to removing all those and having successful updates.

Hope this will help others.

PS. I realize this is all about Magisk, and that this thread is about the latest OOS for the 6T. I suggest that ppl should go to the Magisk thread as there a ton more help available there https://xdaforums.com/t/magisk-general-support-discussion.3432382/ or directly to

✌️😊

Well, I just saw an update for magisk manager and hit update.
Bright spark that I am, I read the warning in bold to deselect magisk hide after updating manager.
So I had magisk hide on, updated magisk manager, then read the warning.
With fingers crossed I turned off magisk hide and then updated magisk via direct method, restarted the phone and voila, everything working just fine. None of the cluster clucking that I expected, happened. All bank apps etc working no problem on magisk 22.
I got to remember to uncross my fingers now.

What you say was true until now, but the V.22's changelog specifies in bold that we should disable Magisk Hide before updating because there's been a change to enable Hide in android versions older than 9.0

Magisk Hide (aka hiding Magisk from apps) or hiding Magisk Manager (by changing its name) ? My understanding is the latter.

Warning: Do not flash partial update OTAs (under 1 GB) on a modified/rooted device! If you want to use partial OTAs, you must first flash the full OxygenOS zip that it applies to, and then flash the partial OTA from stock recovery. Flashing partial OTAs from TWRP will either fail or soft brick your device. You can return to a usable state by flashing one of the above full zips in recovery.

    Installation Instructions

Download the necessary files from the section above and follow the steps below:

Note: Dirty flashing is fine if you are running an old OxygenOS version or a ROM based on OxygenOS. If you are, however, coming from a Custom ROM, you must clean flash.

Caution: Please remove your existing screen lock/pin/pattern/password and set it to swipe before starting the update process.

For Non-Rooted Users with a Locked Bootloader and Stock Recovery

    1. Download the full ROM zip from the downloads section above and place it in the root of your internal memory
    2. Reboot to Stock Recovery > Shutdown device > Press Volume Down + Power buttons together
    3. Select Language > Install menu > Install from internal > Select the full zip > Flash
    4. Reboot to System
Note: First boot may take some time, so please be patient and wait for it to boot.

[Dirty Flash] For Users with an Unlocked Bootloader and TWRP Recovery coming from Stable OxygenOS, OxygenOS Open Beta

    1. Download the full ROM zip and TWRP recovery from the downloads section above
    2. Transfer the full ROM zip and TWRP recovery to the root of your device's internal storage
    3. Reboot to TWRP recovery and take a nandroid backup of your existing ROM
    4. From the TWRP menu, Install > Select full ROM zip > Swipe to flash
    5. From the TWRP menu, Install > Select TWRP recovery zip > Swipe to flash
    6. Reboot to TWRP recovery
    7. Flash the latest stable Magisk in case you want to root
    8. Reboot to System
Note: First boot may take some time, so please be patient and wait for it to boot.

Warning: Dirty flashing (update) can be risky! Remember that if you face issues after dirty flashing, you will have to clean flash.

[Clean Flash] For Users with an Unlocked Bootloader and TWRP Recovery

    7. From the TWRP menu, Wipe > Swipe to wipe
    8. Flash the latest stable Magisk in case you want to root
    9. Reboot to System
Note: First boot may take some time, so please be patient and wait for it to boot.

    Never Settle.

    Hello XDA,

I would like to thank you all for your patience and for maintaining your cool keeping the thread under control. I had to close my 5/5T update threads at the time of Pie release delays and there was lot of drama. None the less the build should pass CTS soon and should be ok to roll out thereafter.

I had to close the official thread once and multiple clean-ups were required over the last few days. I am glad that there is no such escalation here and would like to once again appreciate the level of patience and understanding.

Having said all this, the update should be on its way in the coming days, so all we ask for is a little more patience.

    We are Almost there ...

Thank you for your patience and cooperation,
