Did anybody already install the 11.1.2.2 update and try to install TWRP afterwards and then Magisk?
I tried just now with latest Mauronofrio TWRP and Magisk 23, and my phone is now stuck on the bootloader screen :-(.
I did the normal method and it worked.
OTA update then TWRP retention script and then Install magisk on inactive slot
I also deactivate all modules first and activated after the update.

Try the page linked in my quoted post above for a TWRP that works with OOS 11. I haven't upgraded to 11.1.2.2 yet but when I do I will first try to just upgrade and keep Magisk in tact. TWRP is a secondary for me.

Also, did you disable/uninstall all Magisk modules before upgrading? That was the cause of my issues when I upgraded from OOS10 to OOS11. Deleting the Magisk modules directory's contents solved my boot issues. Can you still boot into TWRP at all? If not, I would try booting to Fastboot mode and then try the TWRP install process linked in my post above. Then delete the modules folders and files and see if you can get back into the OS.
Thanks! I did indeed disable all Magisk modules (since I don't use any ;-). I could still boot into TWRP, but trying any TWRP via fastboot gave me either a hang, or a Qualcomm crashdump. Still, things got completely stuck for me when trying to boot into OS...

Since I took a Nandroid just before that, I tried to restore it, which gave me a success message. Sadly, this bricked things almost completely, data could not be decrypted anymore.

Since I think all was lost at that point, I took the opportunity to switch to LineageOS. LineageOS Recovery did still boot and flash just fine, no idea why all TWRPs I found (all official, Mauronofrio and yours) gave me either a crashdump or got stuck....

I also deactivate all modules first and activated after the update.
My method was "anormal" since I did the following (which always worked before, though):
- Download and verify full zip.
- Boot into TWRP, take a Nandroid.
- Install full zip.
- Reflash TWRP.
- Reboot to recovery.
- Reflash Magisk.

After that, I could not boot to OS anymore. I think the lesson learnt (for me) is to regard TWRP as secondary, since in any case my Nandroid backup could not be restored somehow (see above). I'll look into different backup mechanisms and now that I am on LineageOS will also use the Magisk "flash to inactive" technique.
Thanks in any case for your responses!

Ugh. So seems the system update actually worked, but I didn't do the TWRP retention and Magisk install before rebooting (thinking the update didn't work) so lost both. Guess I'll have to extract the boot image and patch and flash.

<EDIT>
In the end it was as easy as re-flashing the TWRP img from fastboot and flashing Magisk from TWRP. Phone back to awesomeness!

I waited for the OTA to be available in my OP6. I downloaded and installed it, and then, before rebooting the phone, I installed Magisk on Inactive Slot after OTA option.

Don't need TWRP for a while now, so I did not bother installing it. I may do it later if necessary.

I'd like to confirm that it is safe to update to the OOS 11.1.2.2. My OnePlus6(rooted with TWRP) currentlly has:
- OxygenOS 10.3.12
- TWRP Teamwin 3.3.1-17
- Magisk 20.3

I've been using this same TWRP 3.3.1 to updated multiple OOS 10.x without any issue. This time I think update to 11.x is a major update and I don't want mess up the phone. So could some one please give me some advices to safely update to OOS 11? If need upgrdae the TWRP and/or Magisk then which version should I go with? I am a bit of nervious after reading the recent few posts here.

To be honest I don't think it's worth the hassle to upgrade to OOS11. There's not any worth-while functionality that you gain and there are some minor bugs still with OOS11, like gmail background notifications etc. OOS10 is nice and stable. If it wasn't such a pain to downgrade, I think I would've done it already.

TWRP is now asking for a password to decrypt. I tried my lock screen pin and the default password but it won't work. I'm not fussed about keeping it but would like to keep magisk.

Can I use the normal method of installing OTA then the retention script and installing magisk to inactive slot before reboot or will I brick my phone?

Thanks.

Warning: Do not flash partial update OTAs (under 1 GB) on a modified/rooted device! If you want to use partial OTAs, you must first flash the full OxygenOS zip that it applies to, and then flash the partial OTA from stock recovery. Flashing partial OTAs from TWRP will either fail or soft brick your device. You can return to a usable state by flashing one of the above full zips in recovery.

    Installation Instructions

Download the necessary files from the section above and follow the steps below:

Note: Dirty flashing is fine if you are running an old OxygenOS version or a ROM based on OxygenOS. If you are, however, coming from a Custom ROM, you must clean flash.

Caution: Please remove your existing screen lock/pin/pattern/password and set it to swipe before starting the update process.

For Non-Rooted Users with a Locked Bootloader and Stock Recovery

    1. Download the full ROM zip from the downloads section above and place it in the root of your internal memory
    2. Reboot to Stock Recovery > Shutdown device > Press Volume Down + Power buttons together
    3. Select Language > Install menu > Install from internal > Select the full zip > Flash
    4. Reboot to System
Note: First boot may take some time, so please be patient and wait for it to boot.

[Dirty Flash] For Users with an Unlocked Bootloader and TWRP Recovery coming from Stable OxygenOS, OxygenOS Open Beta

    1. Download the full ROM zip and TWRP recovery from the downloads section above
    2. Transfer the full ROM zip and TWRP recovery to the root of your device's internal storage
    3. Reboot to TWRP recovery and take a nandroid backup of your existing ROM
    4. From the TWRP menu, Install > Select full ROM zip > Swipe to flash

    8. Reboot to System
Note: First boot may take some time, so please be patient and wait for it to boot.

    Hi All,

It's been long since I posted here and I hope everyone is safe and sound with the current situation on nCoV. I was busy with lot of work, travel and real-life situations and this will continue for some more time.

I have assigned @jslawler as a maintainer for now and hopefully, he will keep the thread up to date.

There is another slot empty and will also do the same for Beta and 6T threads if things go ok from here.

Once again I regret any inconvenience that I may have caused due to being inactive maintaining the threads here and I look forward to the new guys doing the cleaning.

Thank you all once again for your support over these difficult times.

    Be Safe

Heads Up: The ROM Team has worked really hard in the last few months and as you all know, the First H2OS Pie Open Beta for OnePlus 6 was released today in China.
If all goes well in initial testing we should soon have a global update :fingers-crossed:

Hopefully stable users would have a option to dirty flash the P beta without any data loss however DP3 users might have to do a factory reset so please backup your data before hand.

As always once on beta path you will receive beta updates only unless you fall back to stable build which will be a separate roll back build and which may require data wipe.

I would do a separate thread as and when we get a beta release with instructions on how to update, so stay tuned for the official announcement.

I would once again like to say that all the devices
6/5/T/3/T are being worked upon when it comes to updates so would request the users with older devices to be patient in the meantime.

Thank you once again for your continued support and stay tuned for more updates :good:

    Never Settle :fingers-crossed:

PS: If you are one of those who can't wait to test P on your device and even ready to flash H2OS to do that here is the official link for you to test it.
