So i have been trying to install this all day, and I keep getting errors. I don't think anyone can get it to flash through TWRP, so I tried doing the local upgrade method, and it just says "System update installation failed."

I tried this from the stable build, it failed, I installed the latest non-A10 beta, it said the same thing, then I installed waaay back to Beta 14, it still failed. I tried downloading the new A10 beta about 3 times to make sure its not corrupted or something, but it always says the same thing. "System update installation failed."

I have factory reset, wiped cache and everything countless times now, I didnt want to lose my data, but I gave up and tried that too.

Please help, I'm at my wits end.

Edit: I got it to work by updating to the newest non-A10 beta (Beta 28), then checked for updates in the settings, and just had it download and install that way. Then I did the magisk patch boot method for root, and everythings working fine now.

Don't have any issues here, or maybe because I'm doing clean install. xD

OB1 Android 10 require latest OB/Stable update because that version is 'Preparation for Android 10'.

What i notice is, for those do dirty install will have sensor or others issues. For me, major upgrade Android is better do it clean than dirty flash.

If you do clean install, still have that issues that exist like dirty install, that is ROM bug and have to report it. :D

How do you do a clean flash of this ROM? TWRP fails to install it.

Dirty flashed it fro OB25 with magisk.
Noted the various reports of twrp so skipped for fail/safe the twrp script for magisk stuff..
For now everything is working fine, VIPERFX doesn't install, but if that is the last it's next weeks problem
Tried installing, but no driver install happend.
No sound over USB, headset or Android Auto.

With out viper fx BT works just fine.

Guys here are the steps I took for successful install

- copy the patched magisk boot image to a folder on your PC
- open command prompt from the folder where the patched boot image is placed
- reboot phone to bootloader and connect via USB
- type the command in the command prompt window - fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
- Reboot phone
- open magisk. All set.

Using the fastboot command mentioned above, I got "Okay" message meaning adb command was successful. Is there any further steps for installing twrp? I have successfully rooted the phone with Magisk but when I reboot to recovery, it boots to fastboot mode. I am thinking that I am missing a step after using the fastboot command......May be I have to take an extra step within Magisk manager? Not sure though. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Thanks

This worked but mobile data doesn't work.

Clearing the data on the recovery will wipe my apps data? If so, there's any other way to make the sensors works without wiping the apps?

How do you do a clean flash of this ROM? TWRP fails to install it.

Atm, it only can install via local upgrade since no TWRP support yet. (always happen every time major upgrade Android)

Local upgrade OB1, reboot and enter recovery mode once it boot (i skip first boot) and do erase everything on stock recovery and boom done. (i do same things when playing HOS OB1)

I lock my bootloader since TWRP not support yet. But on HOS OB1 i can root properly.

About root, you can do patch_boot.img trick, it's works. (i don't use this and zero experience on this. Just saw feedbacks from other users)

Result may different, but you can try it. Good luck brother. ;)

* I always remove my password before update ROM. I think this not related, only avoid crypt issues. (last time i flash no-verity zip on OP3, after that not flash that zip anymore)

For the sensors as i said before, i fixed it by flashing the rom again via local update and clearing data with stock recovery, for the charge it charges normally for me.
The only bugs i found(i dont know if it is considered as a bug) is the finger print is slow and the night mode is a little soft than before, i mean it's not yellowish as it used to be

Note: Dirty flashing is fine if you are running an old OxygenOS version or a ROM based on OxygenOS. If you are, however, coming from a Custom ROM, you must clean flash.

Caution: Please remove your existing screen lock/pin/pattern/password and set it to swipe before starting the update process.

[Dirty Flash] For Users with an Unlocked Bootloader and TWRP Recovery coming from Stable OxygenOS, OxygenOS Open Beta

    1. Download the full ROM zip and TWRP recovery from the downloads section above
    2. Transfer the full ROM zip and TWRP recovery to the root of your device's internal storage
    3. Reboot to TWRP recovery and take a nandroid backup of your existing ROM

Guys just like to mention here that BETA is its initial stages so expect bugs and broken functionalities. We try our best to test all major functionalities before moving the build from a closed stage to open for you guys to test it further and share your findings as there can be infinite possibilities of something still being broken and that is were you guys come into spotlight :fingers-crossed:

If you take a look around, there are not many OEMs who are offering 9.0 builds even in beta. I don't want to take any names here but some of them have much bigger development teams, staff and resources. We are still working towards the a better and sweeter pie experience for you and that will not only cover the current devices, but will trickle down till the OnePlus 3/3T, for the record, there are very few 2016 devices which will get the pie treatment.

Having said that I truly appreciate your support and participation in OnePlus Beta Program and consider you guys our core community members who give us our true feedback, good or bad always valuable to us.

Thank you once again for your continued support and active participation in the beta program, expect bugs and subsiquent fixes, its a cat and mouse chase

Let's keep the thread moving forward towards positive contributions and a better, sweeter pie experience :highfive:
