Yeah I tried that. No luck. I bit the bullet and flashed without magisk and I have stock recovery again. I tried uninstalling magisk prior to doing the local upgrade then installing magisk before reboot with and without TWRP retention but I loose recovery. I'm assuming it's something to do with the way Android 10 is. I'm sure it'll get figured out soon.

But for now if I want any recovery I can't have root.

Should work if you fastboot twrp yeah won't be on the phone but should work just to get root

Heads up Team

Q Beta would go live shortly. This is just the first beta so nothing astronomical is going to happen with your device or user experience.

Please take complete backup just in case your user setup or apps not compatible the Q platform and uninstall any mods before the update.

Thread will be updated momentarily and is open to discussion and feedback :good:

Thank you once again for your continued support and patience :highfive:

For the purpose of not losing access I've installed via local and losing root.

I'd tend to agree. 10 is ok. Few more options but early days

No notch options though which is odd

Upgraded to Android 10 same way as mentioned in post #4. Root is intact. Non twrp :)
I did that, rebooted to recovery to clean cache after successful install of rom and magisk... and the phone instead rebooted to android 9 and no magisk o_O
(I guess it rebooted the other a/b partition?).
Then I flashed again and it booted into android 10, but still no magisk installed.

So, what would be the eaisest way to get magisk back (I have no TWRP)?

I was rooted, but updating by TWRP gave an error. Therefore I used local upgrade. This worked, but I lost TWRP of course. So I tried to adb flash TWRP but it crashes again because it won't let boot the phone.
Also the Allinone tool cannot (re)install TWRP.
Any ideas?

Android10 is laggy btw compared to 17

You can't install twrp on android 10 now. Maintainer of 6T TWRP currently looking for a solution.

I dont have TWRP installed. Not sure which version would help you..

For me, Android 10 is as smooth as Beta 17. Actually, scrolling is more smooth in Android 10.

    Thread cleaned.
Some posts were pointless, some were useless, most were complaints,
few were mature (but had to be removed since they were part of discussion )

Before posting in the thread , do the following steps.
1.)Read the thread title and first post.
2.) Check if the post you are going to make is relevant to thread
    3.)If not , don't post.

In case you are not happy with a manufacturer/update/firmware/blah-blah-blah then make your decision with your wallets.
Don't go on complaining around random threads for the sake of complaining.

@Funk Wizard any news on beta 8 or stable 9.0.13??

No ETA due to release policy/non disclosure agreement but, both are close. You may have already received the play store update launcher/shelf addition of new features if you opted for beta along with some other updates. The team is working relentlessly on the launcher/shelf and there are many more features planned which i wont be able to disclose currently but all i can say it would turn up to your virtual assistant in the times to come and will give you a lot of information on the go.

Also some additional features/mode is under final testing on the alphas so it should trickle down soon along with other tweaks and welcome additions.

Pie build for 3/3T is all cooked and certified and ready to be delivered really shortly now so once that gets out of the way the focus will be more getting the builds out every 10-14 days on betas & 30-60 days on the stable path.

Also OnePlus OEF Developer conference in to take place in Goa where some of the top developers to come together on one platform early next month which will further step up third party development for the current and upcoming device.

Lots happening behind the scenes so i would thank the community for being patient so far and request for continued support as there is a lot to come in the next 3 months :good:

    Stay Tuned :highfive:
