Well, now our device (Galaxy S6) have less than a year from his launch and we have a full idea how operates in all areas: talking about battery, display, camera, build quality, battery and software updates. But soon will come new devices with new features that will make our "Galaxy S6" a bit obsolete. I would like to know who will change your SGS6 for a new device in next months, considering the announcements coming.

In my case I'm a little upset with the battery. It drains fast and think that lack of software optimization is one of the causes, the good side is that it charges fast so this is a good point. Also design is a good point, at least for my, on the SGS6. When looking for another devices, as I said on another thread, I have some doubts with others manufacturers.

For example (all the comments are IMO and in comparison to my experience with the SGS6 and respective flagship devices):
  • Motorola, bad design, great software optimization, great software updates & battery, regular/bad camera quality.
  • LG, regular design & software UI, great software update, nice camera.
  • Sony, horrible UI, nice battery duration, regular SW optimization and updates, regular camera (including Z5 which only have more pixels but same quality as SGS6)
  • HTC, hmmm not.
  • Nexus devices, great SW & updates, regular add-ons (camera, battery, design, figerprint sensor, etc.)
  • OnePlus, Xiaomi and others manufacturers are just developing & getting better their products (at least faster than before)
  • iPhone, regular UI, excellent SW optimization, great SW updates policy (we all know why, one device), nice battery (on their Plus' versions), nice design even if it's repeated. Not android
  • Samsung, nice design, fast charging (others also have it), regular SW UI, regular/bad sofware update policy, horrible battery for a flagship, lack of SW optimization.

And you? What's your opinion?

LG g5 is prob my first pick but going to wait a month after release to read reviews and such. If I don't like the reviews I'm going to switch to note 5.

The SM-G920F BTU (UK) has software dated September 2016. I've checked the exploits/bug list and there are several that are not fixed by Samsung.
That makes it more than four months of patches missing.
Add to that the Marshmallow debacle, the horrible communications and customer support regarding the update and this was my last Samsung device.
Next up for me will likely be a G4 (next week) until the successor of the V10 arrives, or the next Nexus phone this fall. The S6 is going on Ebay.

Next will most probably be an HTC. Great build quality, great updates, great software and mainly deep theme support. Once I've tasted the theme capability of the S6, it's hard to pick a device which doesn't have such deep customization and it's only HTC which does a similar thing. But not anytime soon though as my S6 is awesome. And for galaxy S series, I'm on even numbers. So S8 is more likely an option than S7 :D

Definitely i will not buy another samsung. Close source Exynos chip, some problems with reception, very slow updates (marshmallow update still not published for international version), average battery life, it was quite expensive (and s7 will be much more expensive). But the camera is very good...
Probably i will buy LG G5 or next Nexus with the Snapdragon 820

I forgot about Knox! No comment about it...

I'll probably get another Galaxy S phone (7 or 8?). My preferences are:
  • Android OS
  • QHD resolution
  • LED screen
  • home button (capacitive or physical)
  • around 5" screen size.
Few phones meet all those.
