I'm anxious to see what the S5 will be like. Another part of me thinks I should just go with a Nexus device to always have the latest updates without dealing with unstable nightlies, etc...

I was wanting the note 3 but with no triband lte that's a no go. The s5 u think would support it. My area was one of the first to get lte so I don't know if that means my area will be one of the first to get the upgraded lte or not.

I have the Nexus 5 on Sprint and I was coming from the Epic 4g Touch, while I don't miss the removable battery I do miss the sd card. Other than that the N5 is awesome, screen is very different than the AMOLEDs, some say it looks washed out (and it does) but they say it is a better representation of color because the AMOLEDs are too vibrant. Learning adb commands since all I used was odin on my SII but it is not too hard.

My wife still has an SII and I am thinking of upgrading her (no contract) and looking at the SIII or maybe even a Moto X if I get the code for the $150 off. My wife does nothing crazy with her phone, she just needs it to work and the ability to tether it to her laptop once in a while. I don't think she would like the N5 but I have thought about getting her one, she is used to TW so I kinda want to keep her on it. I would also like her phone to have an SD card so that rules out the X and N5 and I don't want to pay the premium for a SIV.

So that is my dilema for the wife; SIII for around $200 used, Moto X for $150 off for a non contract phone or an N5.

Any opinions?

Oh and BTW the new tri-band phones are not all that great because they are not a single radio and you cannot be on the phone and use data anymore. There is also a part of the US that because of this you cannot even get LTE on your triband phone unless you force it and then you lose 3g.

Sealed battery makes it a no go for me. Which sucks because I was hoping it could replace the Note 3 on my wish list.

The LG G2 is another very good phone as a final option. Much better battery life than my s3 and a beautiful display. Also the HTC MAX is a great phone to look at, if you're willing to have a giant phone in your pocket all the time.

Today I convinced my mother to go into sprint with me. Ended up switching my account to the new framily thing. So i upgraded to a nexus 5. She signed up and got a g2. I always get kinda depressed about a new phone at first especially after watching the s3 come SOOOO FAR with aosp nightlies. But.....this thing is nice ;)

What's the verdict on the GS-V? I thought we were getting a super high rez screen, metal case, etc etc. Maybe i'm being picky...
Fairly underwhelming, but still a good upgrade from the S3... I was set on getting the S5 based on the rumored specs, but it seems to still be a Snapdragon 800 instead of 801 or 805, and 2 GB RAM is surprising considering the Note 3 has 3 GB. I'd want to find an alternative upgrade but a microSD card slot and removable battery are a must, sadly not many other manufacturers offer these options anymore :crying:

Edit: According to SamMobile it is indeed an 801 processor at least, that makes it a little better.

S5 very disappointing imo , s3 , s4 s5 all very similar designs
Only thing that grabs my attention on the s5 is the 16 megapixel camara

I have a upgrade in may , Im still set on the note 3 or may just wait to see what the note 4 has to offer

I think htcs one 2 sales are going to be better then the s5 , samsung starting to get lazy , taking people's ideas ( obviously being they keep getting sued and lossing their case ) and just making " cookie cutter " phones...

The s5 has all the specs I would expect to see except a 2k screen. But why fix something that ain't broke as far as form factor. HTC will never out sell Sammy silly :p

Why not fix it? Really ? , same thing over and over with small small tweaks to the phone
If you ask me sound like they lazy and boring

Also isnt sammy the same company thats consistently getting sued and LOSING for taking other peoples ideas ? Sounds like they need a new development team

sammy = lazy , boring and most importantly a thief

So is Google. .... get used to it. Sammy delivers only the best I've tried the HTC one and it was the worst thing I've ever held in my hand.

As of yesterday I'm sitting on an upgrade. So now the search begins. I was gonna go gs5 but after seeing the specs I'm not sure what to do. Wait on the note4 but that's a ways off.

My personal opinion you have the following 3 choices

Note 3 which is the best hands down as far as specs go

Or wait until march 25th to see what htc has coming out

Or wait for note 4

Which honestly cant wait to see what they have for that thing lol

Was thinking note3 but it doesn't support tri band LTE. With where I live being one of the first to receive LTE it may be getting spark soon and don't wanna be stuck with a phone that doesn't support that for another cycle. It's a shame to cause it's a really nice phone
