No Obvious Interference

I wonder if those cases will affect functionality of the antenna and fingerprint scanner?
I don't note any particular degradation with xmission, and the bumper case does not seem to materially impair or lengthen the time required to charge the phone on the conductance charging pad I have on the desk. Charging time seems to be pretty much the same whether or not the bumper is on the phone or off. I wouldn't be overly concerned about it on the V2.

If I was Saygus, then probably instead of making the superphone, I'd collaborate with NatGeo, Discovery or whoever to make a documentary series on how to make a cellphone.
There seems the be much more potential in delivering the daily/weekly episode, than in delivering the phone itself. ;)

I prefer that Saygus staff work on the phone rather than on twitter ;)
Yeah, but Devil's Advocate would suggest that we have no proof that they *are* working on the phone... The demo unit at cebit showed pretty much the same functionality as the unit at mwc, afaik no-one has seen demos of 2 sd cards working, dual boot, wireless charging, finger scanner, camera, need I say more? If they really were making progress on the phone, I'm sure they would let us know.

A previous contributor mentioned another piece of tech which seemed too good to be true. For all the 'true followers of Saygus' I'd ask you to please read this article with an open mind - http://lingnik.com/2014/09/22/is-earl-sqigles-crowdfunded-tablet-project-legitimate.html - I sincerely hope that this is not the future of the V2 but we all have to accept that there are striking similarities.

You will all no doubt be happy to know that I put in my refund request yesterday so I shan't be here spouting my negative (but entirely factual) views much longer, though until I see the money back in my account I do think I've just as much right as everyone else to contribute :)

I am pretty sure I'll be getting the 64gb Zenfone 2 variant, sure it doesn't tick as many boxes for me as the V2 but at least it exists ;)

One last thing, if the V2 ships on May 22nd, I promise to come back and offer everyone an apology for the negative realism I've subjected you to the last few days.

I see your point and can follow your argumentation, since for the general public it seems like there has been absolutely no movement at Saygus the last few weeks.
I've spoken to them yesterday and they told me, that they are still working on the cummunication problems. Hopefully, we will get some official information about the actual state and progress in the next days.

Since all of us here are very interested in the actual state of the device, here are some news:
  • The camera issues front/back are fixed
  • The antenna problem is also fixed
  • Right now May 22nd seems absolutely realistic to me

BTW: I'll keep trying to get some camera samples.

Andreas, you are a legend :D

See, this is all it takes to put people's minds at rest, a little at least.

I'm still very dubious and I'll continue with the refund request because it all still doesn't add up for me, but this may just be my suspicious mind. If they can manage an official update of real substance before the refund is processed then I may stay on the train but I'm not holding my breath.

Andreas, I certainly hope that you will be supplied with your order gratis for all the good work you've done on their behalf ;)

Hi Andreas, thanks for the update!

I have one question, not that I'm doubting you or anything, but it's really started to nag at me, so maybe you could help clear this up.

Here it is: why are they talking to you and not anyone else? What did you do differently that made them talk to you that none of the rest of us did? I don't have anything against you and I very much appreciate your keeping us informed, but I don't understand why Saygus does things this way rather than sending an update email or a quick tweet to make sure everyone gets this information? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Sqigles earl tablet... Sqigle like the SQGL headphones? Just kidding. But I can no longer blame people for applying for refunds. I've been very positive and supportive but by now I'm starting to question staying aboard (I've considered a refund and applying the money to a jide remix Ultra surface). I'm not freaking out but things have reached a point where I'm more concerned as time goes by and not more assured as I figured I would be with them getting better at communication.

If the camera would be ready wouldn't you think that they would be astonished to show the photos? I know I would.

Sure I can understand you doubts, but unfortunately I can't provide you a precise answer, since this behaviour isn't even completely understandable for me.

I have never seen their office and I don't know how many permanent/own employees Saygus exacly has. After I met Chad and Chris at the Saygus booth at the CeBIT, we have talked a lot and they have been very interested in the questions and worries of the community. Till this day I've had contact with about five different Saygus staff members and every single one of them was always friendly and open minded. Until now they have kept every promise they made to me.
To bring this short story finally to an end:
Everyone at Saygus is working really hard in order to get things done, keep the deadline and for the main part delivering us the best smartphone experience out there. :)
They are absolutely focused on building this device, finding the best matching components and getting it very reliable..

The Saygus guys can't tear themselves apart and thus the social media is still suffering. I can't tell you exactly, when this will be getting better, but they are discussing different possible solutions for this problem now. ;)

If I were Saygus, it would be a lot easier for me, to give some information directly to one of the community and he does the "delivery" for me. So I don't need to formulate everything and think about the wordings. Nevertheless this can't be a permanent solution, since the community needs some 100% reliable and official information being published by the company itself too.

BTW: You guys rock! There have been 1295 visits by 763 unique users from 59 different countries on my website during the last month. :D

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm out. I waited all I could, but I need a new phone right now so I asked for refund. It's a pity but it's v2 taking too long for me to be real.
There's no doubt Saygus communication skills needs to be really much better, but I've to admit they've been impeccable with my request. Just a few minutes after my ticket I had a mail answering and 24h after they confirm the refund in a 5-10 days period.
If in June v2 is real and reviews are as good as we all expect, maybe I'll sell my new phone and go for it. We'll see!
Good luck for you all, I really want this phone to be real, but I simply can't wait two more months... I've tried to wait, but my Samsung Galaxy S2 needs urgently to be retired!

In the time it takes for them to discuss how to communicate better they could just send a fracking tweet like...hey, we fixed the camera problem today or, good news we attenuated the fractal antenna. Maybe I'll start making crap up. It's better than nothing.
