Could I get a link?

I could do one video - water test -
My TS is somewhere on the shelf and I'm not using it (it's ridiculous to take it off evert time I'm washing my hands)..

I'm sure LLP would believe me :p

Lol Omate have refused to acknowledge the TS water test because Loki lied about it being a brand new fresh from factory, because he took the screen sticker off and turned it on at least once despite the cable ties still being in place...

Unless you have a continuous shoot with the TS ALWAYS in the frame from the moment its been given to you by the swisspost courier they will deny it all...

Perhaps we should all be compensated with enough cash by Omate to at least have the devices nano coated to survive water..

http://www.drisure.com/#productEnhancements

http://www.liquipel.com
However even then they wouldn't be suitable for submersion, only for accidental exposure...

There's a big difference between surviving and the advertised continual usage....

On the two links interesting how they both have the exact same wording on their website, but the USA site will guarantee your device but UK one won't lol

Omate Truesmart not IP67 for me !

My TS drowned after 3 showers!
I completely disassembled to find out why.
I made a little video which clearly gives the reason:
"youtube.com/user/StevesenAcLille/videos"
(It is in French, but the pictures speak for it themselves)
best regards

I finally managed to sell this s*it and I'm quite satisfied I didn't lose all my money...

I got around 250$ and I'm quite happy without TrueScam in my house..

So... I was just about to pull the trigger on buying the TrueSmart until I saw this. I have been looking for a watch that will:

* Track my runs and log to MapMyRuns

* Show the weather on the home screen (same place the time is shown)

* Screen that can be seen at night and outside

* Water resistant enough that if I get caught in the rain during a run it won't be ruined. I am not going to swim with it, and I can take it off when showering if I have to, but it does rain when I am running sometimes, and it must not be ruined from that.

From reading all about the watch, this seemed to be the very best solution since I could even use it for voice searches and maybe a few other apps too.

However, I am thinking that the rain outside condition would be similar to the shower situation mentioned here were someone's watch was killed.

Do you all agree with this assessment? I just want to be 100% sure before I move on since I have not been able to find anything else that is currently available and compares. Does anyone else know something that would be suitable? Thanks much in advance.

Mileage may vary, I suppose.

I've been caught in rain storms, sprinklers, and washed my hands and never had an issue.

The problem is that I believe many people aren't checking the seal around the edges of the case, allowing for ingress. In other cases, there is no seal problem with the case - it's the camera lens not being secured. Other cases? The power buttons aren't seated correctly at the factory and the water gets in there.

I have the original prototype unit and I've gotten it all sorts of wet - had no issues. I've had colleagues get drops in and see it die. I've had others swim with it and see it survive.

You just don't know.

Thanks for the feedback. If it were just that, I might take a chance on it, but that combined with all I hear about the charging method breaking and such really make me hesitate. It's such a shame because other than those two issues, it really matches my needs great. :/

This seems to be another option, but it's battery life is so poor.

Does anyone know of a comparable solution that might do a little better?

Here's another one. Battery life looks to be maybe a little better, but still not as good as oMate.

There are quite a few of them. Similar stats...just a little different in one area or another.

I can't give a solid answer, but in my experience, so far it's been good. It charges all good and fine, never had an issue with that, and I don't think it's a very widespread problem. The water resistance is the main issue. I've gotten it a little wet, whether it's from rain, or washing my hands, or from washing the watch itself (hey, watches get sweaty). So far no problems at all, and I've taken the back off to put in my SD and everything. The only thing I don't like, is that I do still have to worry about the water, like what kuronosan said, it's hit or miss. I was caught in a rainstorm in short sleeves, enough to drench things quickly, and I was worried about it. The watch is fine still but it wasn't fun thinking 'oh ****, I better get under cover in case my watch dies'.

As for all the other watches you listed, I would take their waterproofness with a grain of salt, as they are basically the same watch coming from similar manufactures. I don't think right now there is a guaranteed waterproof full functional smart watch out there yet, so I guess you might have to take the chance on one.

Thank you very much. The only one that might be different is the Exetech, I think. It says it is nano coated, I believe. Your comments do help a lot, though. I am waiting to hear back from an email I sent to Exetech (there was a crowd funding for a new model, but it didn't go well, and I asked some questions on if it was still going to come, etc.). Depending on that, I might just bite the bullet and get the oMate and hope for the best. :)

BTW, really glad to hear yours made it through the rain. Very good for you on that one.

Theres also this one, although it seems that they are too busy engineering the watch to think how to market it... not really a bad thing, shows they actually care about the product more than trying to make a quick buck. I did ask them to up the specs, but they aren't charging loads either and its meant to be really thin...

Although they appear to have a working prototype that you can see in the videos.

The Exetech is still available here

But it looks massive.

Mine died two days ago at swimming pool. Was FULL of water.

This clock is a ****. I've been using it for two monts. GPS is AWFUL. It is not valid for running either cycling. Lost signal frequently. Only valid for hearing music.

Facts:
- It's not waterproof.
- GPS does not work very well.
- Screen does not work when humid or wet.
- Screen sometimes has "phantom" behaviour (response without touching)
- Heavy for sports. TOO HEAVY for running.
- Software is a piece of ****. Specially default launcher.

A pity, because I wanted it as my definitive clock but..... DIED.

Slightly different experience:

GPS worked very well on my device 4/5, better than my Garmin Forerunner 305.
Occasionally no connecting at all or strange errors.
That was until the antenna seem to break and signal was 50% of previously.

Touchscreens does not work when wet, as expected. The screen is very sensitive, you must keep it clean.
I have an OK setup reusing the buttons with combinations, so I could handle IpBike and the Camera when running, locking the screen.

Too heavy for everyday use, but quite OK for running for me.

The firmware is bad. Android worked as expected without modifications. A lot of tinkering required...

I agree though about the IP67 certification.

Really? Maybe I'm just real buff =P

Seriously, I wear this thing every day, not an issue for me. Yeah it's a little heavier than most watches, but it's really not an issue.
All is relative...
I have not used a watch for 20 years except for a training watch for 8 years.
I tried to get used to it for a week, but did not enjoy it. Not a big issue, the TS cannot replace my phone with the current firmware/hardware anyway. (I have a workphone too, so some limitations would have been fine.)
Running is OK for some reason, that should be worse.

Already the Alu version is close to be really usable for me. Coming devices should be both thinner and lighter, even better.
