pm me your gmail.. i have a few questions on the process

The device comes locked. But, their policy states they will provide the OEM to any customer, as long as your account is current. I literally had mine shipped, opened it up and activated, called customer service, and they emailed me the code with in 5 days.

Not gloating here, just trying to provide useful info to the community. Secondly, they are a US carrier that doesnt lock down their devices, for the record.

Thirdly, I am a direct employee, unfortunatly I do not get any employer discounts on Xfinity Mobile, the pricing I stated is accurate and available to everybody.

At the moment, they are doing 200.00 0ff a new Samsung device, which is not a rebate, its immediatly taken off the price of the phone upfront.

Any updates? You can p.m. me if you don't want to reply in the thread.
If everything you said is correct we may have something here...
pretty sure its a false alarm.. also the picture posted seems bits and pieces were clipped from the actual forum lol he never said someone got a xfinity with eng bl installed, he was saying if that was the case then maybe it could be unlocked lol

also from talking to the xginity user i am 99% sure they are sending him the sim unlock code

You are spot on. This was another example of someone confusing SIM lock with bootloader lock. Here's the full thread > http://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Xfinity-Mobile/Rooted/td-p/2931374

I haven't found any phone even *close* to the S8/S8+ in specs, much less one that's rootable. (*ARE* there any?) So, which international S8 models are compatible with Verizon? (There seems to be two, a hong kong one with 128GB, and a european one with 64GB)

The HTC U11 seems nearly identical in specs, and significantly better for my needs, honestly: it's not only unlockable, but there's now a 128GB/6GB RAM VZW compatible version! Love Samsung, but sorry guys, heading to HTC!

This could be an isolated issue, but I used to work for Sprint, and our htc display units were constantly breaking (shutting down and unresponsive). I would not trust them, personally.

My service provider is Xfi. I cannot speak to the legitimacy of the claims that others who share my same carrier make. Keep that in mind.

What I can say is that I received my S8+ on July 17th. It was shipped to me by xfinity mobile. It was in a sealed package. The box and miscellaneous items contained within showed no signs of use or wear. The stickers protecting the phone were intact and appeared undisturbed. The only evidence that my phone had been touched by another human between me and the factory that produced and/or packaged it, was that the Xfi sim card had been installed.

Although anecdotal, formed merely from my own observations and linear deductions; I am 99.9 percent certain (+/- 80 pct) and can confidentially exspouse that my phone has not been altered or tampered with in any way, prior to it's sweet, oh, so sweet, delivery into my sweat-slick and trembling, 130 bpm, hands. Run on sentences FTW (please see above) . The longer the sentence the greater its legal seeming legitimacy to those without attention spans. Poly-syllabic meanderings exponentially increase the likelihood of said legitimacy.

My verbose (some might say bellicose) long winded wall of f**king text has a purpose and direction which could have been summed up concisely, seemingly hours ago, by stating two brief points. My un-sincere and false apologies to the misguided souls who lost precious minutes of their lives wading through the miasmatic swamp of my rambling mind, squinting eyes, and cramping fingers.

The two mercifully brief aforementioned points are as follows:
1) My phone does not now, nor ever did it have an unlocked bootloader.
2) Why has God cursed me, when she has given all the other geeks who share the same carrier as I, unlocked mutha-fracking bootloaders?
II) Some people are bad at math and will not realize this is more than two points.
IIIV) No, seriously, Xfi will conditionally (gotta promise to pay off your phone and be in good standing) unlock your sim.
Two A) THEY DO NOT PROVIDE PHONES WITH UNLOCKED BOOTLOADERS TO ANYONE. But hey, I could be wrong, BUT I AM NOT.
Two B) Or not two B.

Made you forget about root release for a sec, didn't I.
