Hey guys, I'm currently on H2O Wireless and I'm trying to switch to MetroPCS, but I keep getting "Restricted access changed" and no service. They said it was locked, so does this not work with Metro?

It works with Metro PCS 100%. Make sure you call Metro PCS and add the IMEI & SIM to your account. If it's still isn't working put in another SIM card to get the unlock prompt and enter the unlock code provided by US Cellular. Mine is unbranded unlocked and works just by putting in the SIM (AFTER CONTACTING METRO PCS!)

There's a old kdz here, maybe can help you.
Uhhh do not use this? This KDZ would be what gave you the 9008 brick from downgrading from V2 bootloader. Big no no.

I went to the MetroPCS store and when they put the sim in, it just didn't show any service and they told me it was locked. I think I'm just going to upgrade to a S7 Edge.

They are stupid as can be. You have to CALL METRO PCS and give them the IMEI...It doesn't work like that...lol.

REPEAT AFTER ME, CALL METRO PCS.
WHILE IN STORE, THEY HAVE TO CALL METRO PCS.
DID I MENTION TO CALL METRO PCS TO HAVE THE IMEI ADDED?
THIS IS THE SAME THING ON ANY PHONE NOT IN THE NETWORK.

Upgrading to an S7 Edge is exactly what they want you to do. I had a "Metro PCS employee" try the same exact thing and tried to sell me a SIM card saying the SIM won't work magically because it's in a different phone. No thanks, call your support line and add the IMEI...done.

Ok, I just got off the phone with the cs and they told me to buy a sim card and a plan, then recall support and give them the IMEI number. Is that right? I was thinking of just buying an international S7E on Amazon.

I thought you already had a Metro PCS sim card and service? If not then yes, buy a SIM card and service and activate that phone. It's that simple...you will have to do it on the phone to add any new phone to T-Mobile network.

Recovery

I'm unable to install TWRP on this device. Rooting it was painless, but going to flash TWRP via a bunch of different methods (TWRP Manager, Flashify, etc.) always returns an error that reads along the lines of, "Secure Booting Error! Error Code: 1002." Fastboot doesn't work outright, either.
Use flashfire app

How to Root LG G4 US991 V22a

Hi Guys, any idea on how to root LG G4 US991 V22a? I cannot root it while on MM 6.0 so my only option is to downgrade it back to stock LP but the problem is the anti rollback version is V2 which i've heard cannot be rolled back anymore. Is there any work around for this? Thanks.

sorry to quote you, but i want to correct you.. it can be downgrade if the version of lollipop its V2.. in some cases antirollback doesnt matter i beleive some phones antirollback its at 0 always or something like that.. but seeing yours is V2 then it seems to me that downgrading to V1 would get hard brick.
so anyone with knowledge here should tell you if its okey to downgrade to LP. assumeing someone has done it and its same V2.
in my situation am on V3 i CANT but i have unlocked bootloader.. thats for h811.

Thats good to know that there is a workaround for this problem. By the way how would I determine the version of LP is V2? and where could I get that? Would that also unlock the bootloader if I flash that version?

as long as your phone can be downgrade you can. as long as its same V2 you could or as longa s antirollback dont matter that you need to find out in this thread..
i dont know am pretty sure the only way is to check the hidden menu and see what version of antirollback its running
in this case for you to fins out is out of the question as youll need to flash LP...
only someone that already downgrade and know that is safe can tell you. or someone in lollipop could check their antirollback and see what it says.. only users of this phone can tell you..

So, I have an opportunity to get one of these US991 models at a decent price (almost free because of a trade situation) but after reading some posts specific to the US991 model I have a few questions that I can't find any detailed info about or straight answers basically so I'll toss 'em out and see what happens.

1) There appears to be two variants of this US991 from US Cellular:

- one of them is the US991 (that's the entire model number from what I gather) and it is sold carrier unlocked by US Cellular directly and is capable of getting updates from US Cellular and from what I gather the latest firmware build is US99123a_00_1118.kdz found over at the LG-Firmwares.com website (1.42GB, dated 12-12-2016 but not 100% sure on that date, just using what the website has listed, previous build was US99121a_02_0620.kdz from July 2016 I think)

- the other is the US99111a (the 11a is added and that's the actual model number) and that one is designed to be sold by companies like Rent-A-Center, it's carrier unlocked but apparently it's "locked" to a given firmware, 11a, and there doesn't seem to be any potential for updates of any kind (not that any have been released that I can see)

Obviously of those two the US991 would be the one I'd want to get but unfortunately at this moment (as I'm typing this post) I don't have the specific model number from the person that currently owns it, will get that info later today when we meet to see about the trade so I may not get anyone to answer the questions or provide info in that period of time, unfortunately.

2) Apparently the US991 when running Lollipop aka Android 5.x.x can be rooted but if it gets upgrade to Marshmallow aka Android 6.x.x that becomes a moot point and not a possibility, sadly. I don't know what's currently running on the device either (it's late, the person I contacted was going to bed and said he'd provide the info later which is fine) so that could be an issue. I don't specifically demand or require root but it comes in handy I suppose for some apps that require it.

3) Custom firmware/ROMs/etc are seemingly void for this variant so if I get it then it'll basically be a pure stock experience forever more than likely - the only thing I really like to have root for is Xposed so I can install that for using the Physical Button Control module which lets me control music playback using the volume control buttons (yes there are other utilities to do things in a similar way but PBC does it better in my opinion). So it looks like I wouldn't even be able to do that because of the no-root situation, ugh.

If anyone can take a look and offer any additional info or suggestions they'd be greatly appreciated. I may just pass on the whole deal and hold out hoping I find an H815 someday in good shape so I can do the things most of us want with our devices, that's the hope. ;)

Thanks for any assistance, and happy holidays to one and all...

I am rather late to reply and you probably have the device by now. All the information you collected is correct. Only thing I want to correct is that, if you are able to root off of LP then you can technically install Custom Roms via TWRP. This has been done elsewhere on this forum.

Thanks for responding but the seller ended up selling it out "from under me" before I could get it, someone else offered him like $10 more and instead of honoring OUR deal he stiffed me and sold it to someone else. :)

Oh well, I'm about to get a Motorola Droid Turbo 2 for $30 + a trade any moment now, I know it doesn't have root and it'll never be the G4 but it'll just have to do for a while.

Thanks again, Perseus, and happy holidays... :D

Did anyone find or made root for the us91121a running android 6.0?
my g4 is also on this firmware... us99121a. It came originally with us99120a. I bought it from newegg. It's unlocked US Cellular I purchased from NewEgg. Never hear anyone else talking about this model at all. I haven't been able to figure out if it's possible to downgrade to LP without bricking. My anti-rollback is V2 on 20a and 21a. us99121a introduced the ability to use the fastboot command which was unavailable on 20a however fastboot cannot really be utilized to do much for us atm

---------- Post added at 04:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:13 PM ----------

i've got a question i've been wondering about though... okay so to downgrade we want to try having the anti-rollback version at the same. i've heard of some downgrading to one of the sprint LP firmwares and it working with our model because it's a known LP firmware that has V2 rollback however they're unable to fix the radio after doing that. I think there's a verizon lollipop firmware that is on lollipop and with V2.. like 13d or something... I'm using the US cellular unlocked on Verizon already... that radio is strictly for the verizon model though? using it as service is completely different thing?
