[Discussion] WW (International) Rom Vs. CN (Chinese Tencent Games) Rom

dual WIFI? anyone can elaborate this?

Both bands are there and work. Interesting enough chrome on the ww Rom runs at 120hz while on CN its 60.

Plus you can pick the default launcher without having to Uninstall the Asus one which keeps the functions.

So far the ww Rom is better in terms of smoothness to me.

Personally I am still on the CN rom and I haven't tested the WW rom. Having said that it will all depend on future updates which will make the experience either better or worse moving forward. For now I am sticking with the CN rom because it will get faster OTA updates.

Seems like video recording doesn't work if you flash the ww Rom. I'm not sure if that's because my bootloader is unlocked or whatever the culprit is. Everything works fine though, just that. I'm going to see if I can find a working Google camera to test


Edit: seems like only in the default camera app is the issue there on WW Rom

A factory wipe from recovery mode fixes this issue.

I just ordered the Tencent version and I am in the UK. Currently a bit confused, if I flash the WW version will B20 be enabled? I used to think that bands are hardware related unless they are disabled by software I guess.

LTE Band support is always hardware related.

Can you confirm if call recording works and if the gestures work if you have nova launcher as default launcher if you are on ww?

Gestures and call recording work fine. The ww Rom let's you select the default home app.

Armory crate will default it back to the stock launcher but you just have to go into settings and make it the default home again. I'm also using fluid navigation instead with the navigation bar hidden. I like it's implementation better.

I don't wanna have to download every single app and song from Spotify again ??? i just finished setting it up ???

To me, yes. But it's all a matter of preference. The stock options work just as fine if not better. I just like having the option to toggle split screen from a gesture swipe.

+ WiFi is stronger (Detects more networks around you than any other device)
+ Hidden extra ROG Theme
+ Faster OTA (From ROG I History)

- Many apps still have Chinese Fonts and Content
- Dual WiFi gets disabled after reboot
- Chinese Country Name in Contacts App
- Tencent Bloatware in System

+ Everything is in English

- No Dual WiFi Feature
- Themes are not working
- Minor lag across the system
- Facebook Bloatware in System
- Mobile Manager App shortcut is not available on the launcher.

1. The WW ROM has the Pie NavBar CN version does not
2. If you switch to the WW ROM, try to install root, wifi will be disabled

New system update. I am downloading now. Please check if you can receive OTA on the CN or WW after unlocking and relocking the bootloader.
