[Discussion] WW (International) Rom Vs. CN (Chinese Tencent Games) Rom

Yeah, I'm converting back to CN rom. It has just gotten more annoying than anything.

Where are the link to download the CN rom again? i notice that the CN rom are more efficient than the WW rom, for exemple, i can't get the 4G+ at ww for some reason i don't know, but witht the CN the signal is much better at some point to stay at 4G+ without problem

you can't directly install cn on ww rom. search for guide on how to change asus rog phone 2 rom to cn/ww and change fingerprint of your device also.

first check if your device's fingerprint is cn or ww. you can download the app 'hw info' from the Google play store to check this.
if your device fingerprint is cn then you are in luck as it will be easier to convert to cn rom and have OTA updates working.
I'm not very familiar with the steps, search thoroughly before you attempt anything.
there is also YouTube videos on how to do this stuff for our phone. good luck and be cautious.

I have the Tencent device and the seller has flashed the WW rom for me I guess (WW_16.0640.1908.12_0)

Nope, sorry fella, all works with data or WiFi... I was on 1906 when it arrived with WW flashed, updated to 1907.33 using the change fingerprint guide and then updated to 1910.35 eventually... All versions, for me at least, are working. Is it just the play store?

So on mobile data if I try to access my Google account via setings --> Accounts -- Google--> I'm faced with "Can't connect to the internet"

If I'm off WiFi for long enough I get a similar message with youtube saying that I have no internet connection because my google account is signed in, if I sign out youtube works (the app, via chrome being logged in works fine)

I notice after a while also that I stop getting notifications from apps (whatsapp/fb messenger/discord) unless I go into the app and then it's fine for an hour or so.

I have made sure all the above apps are selected in "always starting" on the battery feature, made sure they never get closed, allowed unrestricted data etc so I can't figure out where I'm going wrong.

I've done a network reset on the phone, logged out of my google account but I can't sign back in on mobile data only wifi and then the problem persists, tried clearing cache, tried installing an update for google play services but it won't install (i've allowed external apps to install on the device)

I will try and play around with it on the weekend by using 2 sims and if that doesn't work I'll factory reset the device and start from there, if I can't setup the google account on mobile data from the start could you give me some advice on what you suggested in your post based on my installed OS?

I have the same problem. And I am with the same firmware and the phone is tencent. I think we should go back to CN rom or we should change the fingerprint to WW and update to a newer version. I am still trying to figure out which guide to use.

Honestly, I had the same connection issues on my untouched stock Chinese ROM with OTA updates. Youtube never worked unless I was on wi-fi. What I'm saying is that the Chinese ROM is not a fix for everything. The way I fixed my issues with the phone was to sell it and get Oneplus 7T

2. Go to settings, apps and notifications, see all apps, 3 dots, reset app preferences.
3. Reset your apn and reconfigure it.
6. On your apn settings under apn type, enter "default".
4. Go to settings, advanced, mobile manager, data usage, control app data usage, untick all from wifi and then tick all, go to mobile data and again untick all and tick all.
5. To check if it worked disconnect from wifi, go to the dialer and dial the code *#*#426#*#*
If it worked you should be able to connect to Google servers.

what about VoLTE on Tencent Edition? i am using the Tencent China Version in India but no VoLTE. what could be the reason.? i dont have much knowledge about tech.

I had this issue and finally fixed it.

This didn't work for me. The FCM Diagnostics states that server is not connected. I can use Chrome but Youtube isn't working when mobile data is on. Only with WiFi. Any other ideas on how to fix this?

Ok, I have the same issue as well.
I don't have it in my Menu either.

You could find the MOBILE MANAGER by just typing in the search menu in the phone settings.
