that may explain why you don't have the problem as the newest 4.2.2. firmware runs a lot cooler than the original 4.1.2 firmware with which the phone shipped and my XZ came with it too. I suspect, that during this time, the phone got so hot, that the back started to lift which may not have happened if there would have been 4.2.2. from the start.13W10, and yes, it did.
Did they attempt to fix?I had this issue with my handset and sent it in for repair.
They sent it back literally with the same problem. On top of that I didn't have my phone for 2 weeks.
Great customer service Sony(!)
They apparently fixed it and then sent it back to me but when I got it back it was exactly the same. I've been sending Sony emails letting them know the situation.Did they attempt to fix?
Have you sent it back?
This is appalling from Sony. Wouldn't get it with Apple.
You can buy a replacement rear panel which has fresh adhesive on it.Hi guys
How i can re-seal back panel myself?(because i disassembled it) Or what i should do?
Im debating whether to bother as it will be a pain to be without a phone for a few weeks. I was hoping Sony simply replaced the whole phone. In fact this is what I will be pursuing if they fail to fix it completely. They apparently fixed it and then sent it back to me but when I got it back it was exactly the same. The first reply asked for further information. After that, they resent me the same email as when they were sending it back "Your device has been posted etc etc" (from when they "repaired" it the first time) I thought it was just an accident that they sent that email so I emailed them asking if there was any updates then they told me "According to their records the device had been sent back" It is as if they can't understand English. I emailed them again letting them know of the problem and they sent a reply basically asking me to confirm what I had just bloody written. Incredibly frustrating.
You got that right, when I bought my iPhone 4 my mate put it through the washing machine and Apple let me buy an iPhone 4 for about £100. You definitely would not get that with Sony.
Now I'm just waiting on a reply. There's always some issue with Sony products The XPERIA X1's main feature was the keyboard and that had a design problem (keys would repeat because the sensors underneath got dirty, happened with every X1) it also had cracking issues.
I had the XPERIA S also which had a shocking camera and the quicklaunch stopped working for the majority of the firmware versions. The back cover would easily slide off and now the issue with the XZ and the back cover lifting, completely compromising the water-proof (it say's WATER PROOF on the UK website) feature of the phone.
It's as if they purposely sabotage the most important features of their devices!
I don't know why I bother.
that's a good idea but you have to disassembly old back cover (nfc is attacked on the back cover) to install on new one...so if you can suggest a type of adhesive (i don't care about waterproofness) or if i can buy only the adhesive of the coverYou can buy a replacement rear panel which has fresh adhesive on it.

They just sent me an email asking me to send the phone back AGAIN for repair. I'm moving to Bristol soon I might go to the Cabots Circus store and ask them about this but I have a feeling they'll put me through the website system.Im debating whether to bother as it will be a pain to be without a phone for a few weeks. I was hoping Sony simply replaced the whole phone. In fact this is what I will be pursuing if they fail to fix it completely.
Makes me want to boycott their products listening to their customer service.
I definitely expect the Z1 to have some kind of flaw that compromises a feature they have advertised. It's just expected now. The mobile devices I never had any problems with are Sony Ericsson T300 and Sony Ericsson T610 (a brilliant phone in its time).I'm really interested if the Z1 has the same back plate lifting problem as the Z. Or some other defect which makes the waterproofing a joke?
Maybe the Z1 has an entirely different fault which nobody yet knows about and which will be a lot of "fun" to the future owners to deal with?
interestingly, I've also never had major problems with my SonyEricsson devices, except for my Xperia Arc which had a slight crack near the light sensor.I definitely expect the Z1 to have some kind of flaw that compromises a feature they have advertised. Exactly. These phones are NOT cheap. The one thing I love about Sony is their product design. That is the only reason I buy these phones. The waterproofing is a huge plus though but obviously one that we can't enjoy.interestingly, I've also never had major problems with my SonyEricsson devices, except for my Xperia Arc which had a slight crack near the light sensor.
I just want my 500€ waterproof phone to be waterproof like it was advertised and what I bought it for, is that too much to ask from Sony? Probably I guess.
You know, it's kinda embarassing, I've put a small piece of transparent standard duct tape over the lifted corner to keep it down and stop me from checking that corner all the time. This way, I hope to keep the back in place and maybe even prevent water ingress if I expose the phone to water accidentially. Still, it looks silly and not great! I should not have to do this, especially on a rather new, expensive flagship device.
If you're from the UK it'll take about 2 weeks mate.My phone is in for repairs right now. Waiting to send in the Mrs phone as well until we know the exact service time, she doesn't want to be without it for more than two weeks. My colleagues white phone seems to be lifting in the same spot as well. :/
Not good!
