Distorted Custom Notification Sounds

Loading ANY custom Notification sound results in said file sounding very distorted when pushed past 1/4 volume.
All other sounds are completely fine.
What gives?

Any ideas?

Your issue could be from low quality sound files? Try something with a better bitrate.
I have the same issue with ALL sounds from the phone, even in-call. I haven't had it too long... considering rooting and flashing it, maybe that'll sort it?

I'm running a custom rom now, the notifications are from the Nexus 5 and Moto X.
